    One of the the points for the case drain is that if the motor in the mulcher fails the metal go straight to the tank and then gets filtered out rather then just going through your whole system. with how they set you up instead it's going to dump all the metal chunks straight into your swing motor and mess it up good, you better hope there are not failures! Otherwise it does look like a good clean install, just would rather actually see it to back to the tank.

    Love watching your videos and learning tricks on the dirt work from you but I have to admit, I'm gonna have to say some prayers for you on this one. A one way check valve is strongly recommended in the case drain line, when/if the motor on the mulcher grenades it will send metal through the case drain line. Case drain lines on mulchers have pressure in them, its not just a trickle. Proper tuning/adjustment of the mulcher to the machine is paramount in achieving maximum performance and protecting the mulcher from potential overspeed and/or damage. If you decide you like mulching with the excavator, please look at some newer units other than that dinosaur Fecon CEM36. Best of luck!

      Lol I appreciate that! Sounds like I better reroute I kind of wondered if something was too happen what it would do. I don’t know a ton about the case drain stuff I just know I needed it in a hurry 🤣 I ran the head 30 gpm which is what it recommended but it was definitely slow. I would much rather like try one where I could spool it up more. This one was a bit lacking. Appreciate you watching

    Damn man, I feel like I gave you some bad info on the Lexan LOL 🤣. I’m a little shocked you had 3 things come back and hit hard enough to shatter the glass if it would have hit! Almost nothing ever hits my windshield when I’m mulching but I forgot you guys have much more rock there than we do here at the beach. That could be a factor in more stuff being thrown at the windshield. Good thing you didn’t listen to me and put that Lexan in! It looks badass BTW! I have those same mount holes on the front of the U55 so if I need advice on installing one I’m calling you lol!

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I’m not really the most qualified to run a mulcher on one of these 🤣 I probably got a little careless and yes it was when I got into some rock. Hit me up anytime 👍🏻

  • @sassafrasvalley1939

    Brandon good choice to use rubber stand off bushings. Lexan is pretty tough. The one thing it doesn’t like is vibration an attachment points. The hose will isolate the vibrations.
    That is a slick install. It will be interesting to see how the Fecon operates.

    I have the steel bars on the front of mine just like the ones on top of yours. I put Lexan on to front also because small debris was still getting through and hitting the glass. The only problem I have is if it starts raining everything sticks to it and with no wiper on it you can't see so I either have to stop or take it off. Definitely worth it though that glass is expensive.

    Hydraulics are the devil. (Especially when you hook a line and break a fitting, and have to get a dealer to order a special fitting that the factory will only sell to a dealer, then install part #1, and find out another special part was cracked too, and now I'm waiting another three weeks to get part #2. Sheesh.) I think your "armor" on the windsheild will pay dividends, just from my watching your videos, you seem to attract flying rocks!!!😁

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man that is not good and yes they are. They can be very frustrating. I’m definitely glad I did the lexan it took a few shots lol

  • @chargermopar
    @chargermopar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interesting install! The whole case drain line is a hose and no steel hard line used. The lexan shield is clever, but in the past I have seen shields made of welded rebar with expanded metal mesh attached. Hot sure why the return line is sent the way they did for you, I have seen some systems so simple they just stick the hose end back in the hydraulic tank. My skid steer stump grinder had the return line with a hydraulic cap you screwed instead of the original when using.

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I’m with you I’m not sure why they suggested I route it that way. I thought it should go to the tank too. The expanded metal is a good idea too it would be stronger. Appreciate you watching

    You did real good on the installation.
    Very clever idea putting the lexan in. But yikes!, $500.00 for plastic. They had better bought you dinner after what they did to you. Lol I'm not poking (no pun intended here.🙄) fun of you. I just had no idea that stuff was so expensive. Crap, crap, crap. I'm mad for you. I apologize. To me that was a sticker shock.

    Ughhh. Hydraulics,,,,,, . Better you than me!! Haha. A lot like running plumbing in the house!! Haha.
    We bought and traded for a cabin very near my favourite fishing lake!! T bedrooms so all the guys and their wives can come over and the ladies do crafts and we go fishing!! Hahaha. Traded a quarter section for 17 acres,,,,,,,. Location, location,location. The place has a bit of a slough or marsh covering about 2.5 acres. The previous owner had approval in place to build a 1.5 acre pond in the marsh location and leave 1 acre of marsh. The water flows through the marsh and the deeper sections of the marsh (3-4 ft) are perfectly clear!! We decided to go with 3/4 of an acre (ish) for now. Even that small of a pond will be 25 feet at its deepest! We will have a few trout in there and need the depth to have enough oxygen once it freezes over. I will aerate the pond year round as well, so no ice fishing on it. Aeration makes the ice very dangerous!! The pond will be about 3t feet from the entrance to the 30 x 40 garage. Designed around holding quads, SxSs and a yard tractor with space for 2 full size trucks and has a game hanging locker for hanging animals hunted that need to age a bit. I will remove that as I don’t hunt. I support hunting fully, but a miserable as I can be, I can’t kill anything unless it’s already injured or a danger. I’m a big sap around animals. They seem to know it as well!! 😂😂 anyways it will be a cabin and replace the yacht that I think I have sold. It was leased originally but I was going to walk away with nothing, but the brand is quite desirable so I bought it and have since received a serious offer to purchase. I never say sold until the $$d is in my hands and the keys in their hands,,,,. I was able to recoup almost all of my costs form the last 18 months or so except about $3400 CAD in fuel I left with the yacht. Not bad, my monthly lease was just over $5200/mo. I leased originally as the owner was not sure they wanted to sell it.
    So that Lexan looks really great and is a well thought out installation. You had mentioned the other day that it had already paid off as you confirmed in this video!! Nice!! It always feels good after the bang, changing your shorts from the scare and then realizing what you created has worked exactly as planned!! You have many hidden skills good sir!!
    I’m actually in Victoria cleaning out our personal stuff from the yacht and we get to go out for two days before the new owner takes possession. Just a short cruise, catch a bunch of prawns and crabs for a small feast and, if I want to do it again in the future, I will just charter for a week or two.
    I am hoping you are all doing well. I hear a sniffle and possible hoarse throat there. Hopefully it’s no second bout with that damn COVID. In our area there has actually been a flu outbreak. It’s a pretty nasty strain and has put a couple of my friends in bed for over a week and both had to make trips to the hospital. I hope all you are dealing with is a bit of a cold,,,,,,.
    Please take care and make sure those others in your home are well cared for also,,,,, Eh!! Chat with ya later!

Yes I was very happy about the lexan especially once I heard the bang 🤣 I’ve had a bad sinus infection for two weeks. The pollen is unreal here and the wind has been blowing like crazy so my sinuses are a mess. Appreciate the comment as always and hope you are feeling well! 👍🏻
