So fun to watch these old videos again. 6 years ago it was so cool to watch this cute little kid playing far advanced for her years, but also to see the 7 year old personality. Such contrast to the complete professional that we see today. What a fun journey it has been watching the progression of Yoyoka.

This is one of my 2 favorite covers when she was 7. The other one was the live cover of Senri's Onyx. Just the way she tackled this piece and how professional she was. This is the cover where I started calling her Yoyoka 'Pocket' Soma. This kid is just amazing.

She inhabits the song and it's not child's play to her. She takes it very seriously whether she's aware of it or not. I guess, the seriousness makes her look like a pro without even mentioning all the technical skills she possesses.

One of the many reasons musicians of all types respect her as one of their own. In one of her Drum lessons when she was 6 she said "Please pay attention" to the viewers. So yes, she is serious.

You are witnessing a child prodigy. I sometimes cry with happiness when I watch her play..just amazing! Those hi-hat snatches and single-stroke 32nd note fills are precise and exact. It's just unbelievable that a 7 year old is doing it. Something incredible is happening here...watch this girl develop into a master.

Can you imagine.. she's already financially set (or comfortable) for life if she continues drumming. Most importantly she obviously enjoys it. I vote her COOLEST KID of 2018!!
Yoyoka is 11 now and playing better than ever like the prodigy she is. I find myself watching this vid a lot though. It's just freakin awesome how accomplished she is here.

It is lovely little talented youngsters like this who illustrate to grown ups that kids are the closest thing to God in our physical world. She is performing here with the sheer joy in playing music she loves for the sake of the existence of wonderful music itself. We grown ups need to digest just how important kids are in our world....

I've laughed and cried with joy watching you play. What makes even more joyful is reading and listening to drummers react, compliment you for the mad skills and difficulty of what you've accomplished. Yoyokachan has The Gift. The coincidence the she has performed drumming with her performing parents from a very young age as did Buddy Rich in Vaudeville is remarkable. May she musically attain what he did. She’s got the chops to do it.

だから、ただ頑張って叩いているのではなくて、余裕を持って叩いている様子にレベルの高さを感じる。
これだけ決まっていると聴いていてめっちゃ気持ちい。プレイヤーの年のことなんか忘れて曲に入れる，まいりました。

The funky groove she lays down is just not of this world universe.
Traditional songs for children would be something like Twinkle, Twinkle; Itsy Bitsy Spider; One, Two, Buckle My Shoe. But then there's Yoyoka.
