    Wow I’m impressed, it’s clear you have a lot of knowledge and It’s obvious your R&D work has paid off. I know who I will be talking to when I upgrade my turbo. A link would be good idea.

    Love the numbers and details you spent the time calculating for us!!! Thank you!!! I had no idea the 62 had that big if advantage over 60mm. Can you do a video on compressor vane counts and effects as well as extended tips vs standard?

      Lol true. We are new to TH-cam and we aren’t making content that involves wrecking things so I imagine this will take awhile. Many of the smart people podcast I listen to are sub 1k views and are interviews with some of the most well respected engine trans and chassis builders in the world that I am thankful to have found.

    sorry to comment so late after the video but i'd love a professional overview.
    if i were to add an auxilary AIT sensor pre-intercooler that should allow me to calculate my intercooler efficiency, correct?
    and part two, would that enable any extra tuning potential beyond just research purposes?

    • @savagefabrication795
      @savagefabrication795  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kinda tuning wise, it would allow you to see if your operating the charger in a very poor thermal range. Usually though to correct this the comp wheel or entire turbo has to change, as reducing boost to reduce heat is a tight rope game if it means you lose density ratio (intercooler is cooling off the hot air)
      Correct, you can find the intercoolers thermal efficiency and where it maxs out at. If it’s 300 in 100 out
      Then 400 in 110 out
      Then 500 in 250 out --you have reached its thermal max
      Flow wise you also need pre and post pressure and essentially the same rule if the pressure differential starts to get excessive the intercooler is in a state of choke flow just like a turbine housing goes into choke flow most the time.

    Interesting so if I wanted to buy a 62 mm turbo could I also buy just the 60mm housing and wheel and swap them to compete in different classes of turbos for certain truck pulls and dyno events?

    • @savagefabrication795
      @savagefabrication795  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have done it. As long as the chra is machined to fit both wheels. The big thing is the balance of the unit so for short pulls it should be just fine. But long term it is probably best to have two balanced super core units and then you just swap out super cores and leave the turbine housing still bolted to the manifold which takes about the same amount of time to do if not less. It’s more money to have two super cores but much more reliable

    Interested in your opinion on dropping a 62mm Super 9 on a 2nd gen manifold (2G swap) for my 6.7? Goal is mid 500's on power (stock injectors, AirDog 165). Needs to daily and be able to tow (7-10K lbs max 10 times a year). In middle of NC so no crazy elevation or mountains to climb. I think it should be a pretty sweet setup, for my needs at least.

    • @savagefabrication795
      @savagefabrication795  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the 6.7’s we have had extremely good luck with the 67/67/9’s
      With the added displacement they spool it no problem and it helps a ton with keeping the charger out of the surge region compared to a 5.9 with the same charger. We reach the same shaft speed as well about 300 rpms sooner on a 6.7 so the larger wheel in this case also helps with keeping rotor speed in check and like stated we don’t have to worry about surge nearly as much like we do on a 5.9

      @dsahlst 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@savagefabrication795 Good call. Wasn't really considering the displacement difference and certainly don't want to have to worry about overspeeding the turbo. Wanting to go as big as possible without loosing driveability so I won't complain about running a 67 😎 Thanks for the suggestion and definitely looking forward to getting the swap in with a Savage Fab turbo!

    Do you have a recommended vp44 injector size to max out the 60 and 62 respectively?

    • @savagefabrication795
      @savagefabrication795  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the dyno but a 6x.015 from infinite performance or dynamite diesels new injector tech can certainly allow for the maxing of the SO vp pump up to the wild monster Mike and scheid pumps that are currently out there.
