A huge big hug for a man to be respect and applauded for his strength and persevering, he already has god in his life its clear to see, he's going into treatment, has he not earned the right to be givena roof over his head, is there we could flood every TD, COUNCILLOR, MEMBER OF GOVERNMENT and offer them the chance to do something good for a truely deserving gentelman
How the Hell does it cost 30 grand for a tent?! As the gentleman said, you could fix up a house for that! I've never bought a tent in my life, but I'm quite sure people who go trekking in the Himalayas aren't paying more than 1 or 2% of that for a tent! I'm not even blaming The Lighthouse for that (wouldn't be my business to anyway, I've never donated to them!) but since apparently they're not half so 'givish' with the tents as they used to be, they're obviously feeling the cost! My own feeling, and it's just a guess, is that much of that €30G is coming from the tax~payer, although I'm just guessing, of course. I've noticed that when the money comes from the tax~payer, it's treated like it's from the Bank of Toyland. €330,000 bike sheds "aren't even in it!" Look at the Children's Hospital! (A very famous international TH-camr, Simon Whistler, recently did an exposé on that. Apparently it's the most expensive building project _in the World,_ not counting dams, roads, bridges etc.! I don't know how true this is, but he said they built the Burj - frikkin' - Khalifa for less than what they've poured into the Children's Hospital already!) I can even think of examples from my own life, where things cost crazy, f%&k - off sums because the tab is picked up by the State, but so can plenty other people reading here, I'm sure! No disrespect to that gentleman from the North, but you've also got to wonder if he's quoting an exaggerated figure, there. (Note, I'm not saying that _he, himself_ is exaggerating, that's quite a different thing!) You hear all kinds of crazy urban myths about these things. There again, maybe he's spot on, nothing would surprise me! Even allowing for the profligate waste that occurs in government procurement, or in the charity sector (again, I'm not trying to _necessarily_ imply that that's what's happening here!) you'd have to suspect that someone, somewhere has got to be doing very well out of this! Of course, for most homeless people, their tent is literally the roof over their head, and notwithstanding whether or not it would be a simple matter to get one replaced (I remember when I was homeless in London many years ago it was by no means unheard of for homeless people to sell their tents to backpacker types and then just go and get another), I _know_ that the great majority of homeless take great care of their tents. For those lucky few who are no longer in need of them, though, stories of this kind of mind boggling expenditure on tents might counterintuitively incline someone to be _less,_ not more, considered and careful in how they 'dispose' of the tent, pass it on, whatever, simply because sums of that nature are so fantastical! €100 or €200 on a tent, a person can get their heads around, but €30K on a tent is pretty hard for most people to fathom, it's just not 'real' to them! And speaking as a tax~payer, and as someone who _has_ contributed to homeless charities (even if not the one discussed), if some of that money has gone to buying tents, and the price of those tents is 'only' €3,000, even, and not €300,000, I want to know _how they can justify that kind of money!_ I know what an enormous difference a tent can make in the life of a homeless person, _but still_ there comes a point where you have to wonder if the money might not be spent more usefully - on bricks & mortar for example! This is a bit of an afterthought, and I don't want to especially be 'this guy', but apart from the appalling waste represented by sending the tents collected in the bulldozing of the encampments for incineration, am I being overly cynical or unreasonably prejudiced in suspecting that a person who (Koff!) "Has come to the jurisdiction, purportedly (or genuinely) seeking safety from political oppression in the country from which they have come" (Phew! Sorry, had to put it that way for... reasons, lol!) is more likely to sell, throw away, or just walk away from a donated tent than a local homeless person? Not that, as I mentioned, indigenous homeless people are necessarily above abusing the charity of others, either! And, while I'm at it, would I also be unfair in harbouring a suspicion that there is a greater degree of 'grifting', not to mention _graft_ in that portion of the charity and non~profit (or 😉 'non~profit') sector whose (alleged?) _raison d'etre_ is in helping those folks I just talked about..? Anyway, sorry, I realise I _do_ have a tendency to waffle, and I'm aware this comment is overlong. Thanks to those who troubled to read to the end.
What a difference, hearing someone give thanks and due respect to the organisations that have helped him. What he asked for was very little, a naturally humble man. I'm not Irish and live in Wales. But I don't find Ireland to be a nasty country at all, but it does appear that those in local and national government have been neglecting basic safety nets for many years, hence the problems Ireland is now experiencing regarding housing, transport and other infrastructure. So personally I think nasty is a bit strong and maybe neglectful might be a better descriptor, but what do I know, it has been quite a few years since I last went to Ireland, so take my comments with a pinch of salt ;-)

Would love to know what treatment centres are there ????successful treatment outcomes ???, addiction is an illness born from pain😢 but people can beat it if they have hope , but what hope do they have if on the streets 😢
@@grlfcgombeenhunter2897 Hi there. She was down there this week but I just missed her. I’ve a few question I’d like to ask her on camera that would cut through the nonsense.
For the first commenter: the Lighthouse are helping this guy with treatment. Christian style. My issue is that from the money they made from all the trespass tents with the asylum seekers, they should be giving them to the Irish homeless. This week I accompanied a few asylum seekers from Jordan who were collecting tents from them. No problem at all.
Why can't Ireland house all it's homeless, natives and migrants, using the massive windfalls it made from becoming corporate tax haven? Where did all those profits go from companies like Microsoft and Amazon to name a few. Surely the Irish government benefited from those arrangements,, but what happened to the money and why was not sufficient housing and other infrastructure projects invested in? Why are there so many homeless Irish people, even before the flood of migrants? Who is responsible for this situation?
It's almost as if the powers that be want the people to struggle. If people are focused on putting food on the table or trying to find affordable housing and jobs with a living wage, then the people are too tired to rise up and hold the politicians accountable. Eventually, as history has shown us, when conditions become totally untenable, bloody revolution ensues. I wonder if the politicians realise what will happen if these problems aren't addressed soon. Don't misread me; I'm not advocating for violence. The point is at some point the finger in the dyke won't hold back the flood and once it starts, that water will sink us all. Let's hope integrity prevails. 🙏
this man so determined bless him to turn his life around and i wish him well god willing he will .and he sounds like his found God he will guide him on the way. 🙏menny blessings ❤❤

Addiction is a terrible thing & there are various ways to become an addict, that the addict just doesn't see coming. Nobody seeks to become an addict. Those who smoke their first cigarette don't intentionally want to become addicted to them, nor do those who take their first drink intend to become an alcoholic. Addiction is never anyone's goal in life & admitting you're an addict is one of the hardest things to do, especially when it's something socially acceptable, such as alcohol or nocotine. Too many drugs have now become more socially acceptable, like skunk marajuana, amphetamine, ecstacy & social cocaine. One of my sons got in the techno, rave scene as a teenager, he started with marajuana, amphetamines, ecstacy & thankfully quit the last two, but now suffers from paranoia & along with the nicotine & skunk he drinks heavily. He rarely speaks to any of us & is no longer someone you can talk any sense to, when one of us does see him. Nobody sets out to be an addict & nor do people realise, that there's often a genetic propensity towards addiction, until they themselves become addicted. Substances can be used to self medicate pain of body, mind or spirit, by circumstances beyond their control, or by the unwary who're doing it for " kicks, "mostly the young who think they'd immortal, only to find out that they're not. Addiction has no class boundaries & it's no respecter of who you are or what your social standing is ! You're doing great work Bogtrotter, your humanity shines through & I hope the man you conversed with today, will prevail. 🏴
Thank you my friend. A great and informative description of addiction. This is a field I’m very familiar with professionally and I respect this comment greatly. In particular the fact that literally no one goes out of their way to get addicted. Thanks again
its not too long ago that this man would not have received one ounce of compassion from the passing public, in fact he would have seen hate and derision, he's now a bit higher up the hate foodchain, other tent dwellers have knocked him off the top of that ladder, good luck to him and his battle with addiction, once the migrants have left he'll soon return to the top of the hate tree !!
He wants to finish his treatment first like he said in the video. It’s best not to push these things. A nice thought though. Other than that it’s highly likely he’s not there at this stage.

Thanks Paul. He seems fiercely determined so that might get him through this. I just hope he gets his family back.

He’s made such inroads that I hope he gets this
Can I ask have you heard of Kalergi
@@AnnBourke-es3dq if you’re asking me, yes I have ‘Practical Idealism’
Do you feel that's what the eu is up to
They talk of carbon footprint but dish out tents just to destroy them a week later. No recycling whatsoever.
It’s a disgrace
Yes I'll second that.
It’s a hoax! To transfer wealth from the middle classes!
And flying them in. And then they bring over their friends and mimes and relatives
I don't know how true this is, but he said they built the Burj - frikkin' - Khalifa for less than what they've poured into the Children's Hospital already!)
I can even think of examples from my own life, where things cost crazy, f%&k - off sums because the tab is picked up by the State, but so can plenty other people reading here, I'm sure!

What a strong optimistic man 🙏🍀 in such a nasty country
I'm not Irish and live in Wales. But I don't find Ireland to be a nasty country at all, but it does appear that those in local and national government have been neglecting basic safety nets for many years, hence the problems Ireland is now experiencing regarding housing, transport and other infrastructure. So personally I think nasty is a bit strong and maybe neglectful might be a better descriptor, but what do I know, it has been quite a few years since I last went to Ireland, so take my comments with a pinch of salt ;-)

I ask myself this all the time. Why haven’t they built safe hostels yet. And more treatment centres.

Why did squatting ever fizzle out I wonder Richie?
God bless you. You know that you've already found God he's stopped you taking crack and he will help you stay off them. 🙏 I keep well and I'll keep you in my prayers 🙏 ❤️ 💕 💛 💓 💓 walk the right road.
I hope you get sorted man, you sound determined .
He does seem to be totally grasping the chance
Get him one of those wind-up radios which don`t need any batteries.Or a solar-powered one, there`s loads going cheap on eBay.
I should have. I got him new batteries with the one I got him
He is so determined, he’ll do it, what a nice man…keep up the great work bogtrotter 🙂🙂
Thank you so much Tony. I do believe he’ll do well all going to plan.
That lovely man. Its crazy him being in a tent. This government is so shit, they don't care about the people ☹️
Thanks Janice. He’s staying away from town to avoid temptation. A lovely man.
The government has paid for barrack style houses to be transported at night through Ireland so they're either going to be army camps or concentration camps either way some private companies are making huge profits from these immigrants while the lrish taxes are being drained OUT of the country
Just how is this right. in his own country living like this.and illegal people having a better quality of life in his country it's a Holy disgrace. Bast of look 💯🙏
It’s totally disgraceful Veronica.
Poor man this gets people so upset to see this and then mass immigration in 4 star hotels for years.
I had just visited the centre with asylum seekers to get tents and then im told the same NGO won’t give to the Irish homeless.
Come on Simon, look after our own, this great Irish man, give him a break.
Sinn Fein would like us all in tents.
Thanks for commenting Rob
I'd look after all of the Irish homeless before 1 foreigner.
Send some irish Americans there, genuine fighters
To fight who? The only thing being fought in this video is addiction
At least we know where they are.
All the money seized by CAB should be put into treatment services
Great idea! And decent Hostels.
@@bogtrotterErin absolutely. All that money came from the streets, should be back on them 💜
, genuine my heart goes into this person this human being but how in God's green Earth can attend cost 30K 30000 euro I don't understand that's three people's dole for a year

@@bogtrotterErin kinda got that I'm ex army lol scary scary all men of fighting age....

No one in authority gives a damn for the tax paying Irish
Barbara specter and the Kalgeri plan
❤🇮🇪
its not too long ago that this man would not have received one ounce of compassion from the passing public, in fact he would have seen hate and derision, he's now a bit higher up the hate foodchain, other tent dwellers have knocked him off the top of that ladder, good luck to him and his battle with addiction, once the migrants have left he'll soon return to the top of the hate tree !!
Not for me friend
They don't like poverty but push people there , pure and utter evil. Just say NO.
Thanks Nigel
NGOs get paid to look after 'asylum seekers/refugees' but not for indigenous peoples.
His family should help him and i hope they saw him
Thanks friend. I’m sure like many getting through addiction, making amends to them will make things easier. He’s aware of that.
@@bogtrotterErin Its never too late, everyone deserves to be heard especially if they mean it. Id have to bring him with me, id nearly go get him now
He wants to finish his treatment first like he said in the video. It’s best not to push these things. A nice thought though. Other than that it’s highly likely he’s not there at this stage.
Do you know this man?
The number one, non drug treatment for any addiction is, Time Line Therapy.
Gestalt Time Line? Why do you think time line is the number one?
As an addiction counsellor and psychotherapist I would respectfully say that’s not the case. Respectfully.
Well of course because it brings in that money for them
Why are taxes paying for these
The tents Dave?
Damn Dave would u have a problem with refugees getting tents.
10:44 Slow your translation down , irish isn't English, it's like an aphethamin language

Slow what translation down? Subtitles? This isn’t the Irish language. It’s English.
Obviously not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree 😂

Ireland only has under 25 thousand jobs available
Thank for the info. What has this to do with the video friend?
@@bogtrotterErin No jobs leads to poverty poverty leads to stress stress leads to self medicating self medicating leads to depression isolation and more poverty more poverty leads to crime and more self meditation this eventually leads to homelessness more self medication and unaliving ALL could be avoided with decent jobs decent MPS looking after their OWN people
@@user-ig4mn6cm5y ah I get you. Totally. Societies with massive inequality in financial status tend to have high addiction rates.
