She is a legit ballet teacher. She has a scarf. I'm joking, you are very entertaining. Education to say the least, and I would love to have a class with you. I'm subbing first. I'm glad I came across this.
The way you teach is very different from the usual approach I get from class. I've stopped dancing but from your video I was able to finally do a fouette!!! Thank you for sharing your tips. It'll surely keep me back on my toes.
Hey Emily! You're not the only one! We want to help dancers dance better and know this is apart of it. Watch this video we did on balance..hopefully this helps! th-cam.com/video/BrZxBlyqfVI/w-d-xo.html
As a teacher it's inspiring to watch your videos. Your positivity, energy, and the way you break things down resonates with my teaching style, and reminds me why I love ballet so much! Thank you :)
Thanks for the comment! You need to establish two way energy by driving energy down through your supporting leg while continuing to lift up through your body in the opposite direction. Have you watched the Pirouette video? It has useful information and we address our methodology in it. Here is the video: th-cam.com/video/puXK3COsOmQ/w-d-xo.html
Hi I'm a dancer but I'm not a strong dancer I try to turn on my turnboard but I almost fall off how do I improve my dance experience for me to become a very good dancer and to impress my friends
Take it slow and go back too the basics - posture, placement, alignment. Then practice doing a clean single pirouette first then progress to a double pirouette and so on. RPM emphasis is on safely dancing without injury.
This is the first time I've seen RPM, wow this is awesome! I so appreciate your personality, perspective and approach in teaching. Very awesome, subscribed about 2 minutes in!
I took dance for 7 years in a row. I started when I was 3 years old! But I took a 2 year break for acting. Next month I’m returning to dance with my old classes like ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop. And I’m trying to get re stretched and relearn all my moves.
One exercise you do to build up to fouetté turns is to start at the barre. Start with left hand touching barre, from 5th position right foot front go to Retiré then extend right leg front, rond de jambe your leg to a la seconde while in fondu. Once in a la seconde then releve while bringing the leg into passe. Coordinate your right arm with correct port de bras (front, side, 5th en avant). You can eventually add a turn when you pull into passe from a la seconde using the barre to stop. Remember to spot once you add the turn.
I do contemporary dancing, I start next week and I don't know my turns. I don't want to disappoint my classmates I don't even know gymnastics! I can only do a bridge and I'm still working on my splits. Any tips?
Watch some of my my videos to prepare yourself but your teacher should guide you as they will be able to give you what you need at your level. Don't try to prove anything to your classmates as they will understand that it takes time to learn but most importantly to improve in ballet or any type of dance. Be patient with yourself. Try to understand the movement patterns of the steps and combinations rather than go from picture to picture.
Hi! Loved the video! I️ have a question about fouetté turns. I️ always seem to hop when I️ do them, and when I️ have my leg out in á la second I’m not in relevé. And I’m always have trouble with that. Any tips would be great!!! Thank you 🙏
Thanks for the comment! You're not supposed to be in relevé in á la seconde. You only go into relevé when you pull into passé. In reference to you hopping, it could be a number of things. It could that your center of gravity isn't over your balance point. It could be your control zone (i.e zippers) is not activated. Or it could be when you do the rond de jambe, that you are not counter balancing for your extended leg. Hope this helps! Thanks for being apart of our community!
of course! Just find a rather easy class with kids your age. You will be surprised how quickly you catch up! Learning the basic positions and plies are the jist of it. You should start on ballet 2!
I always wanted to know, I thought I would be having classes with kids younger than me and I know that that is fine but I really feel kinda weird when I think about it like that😅
Hi ma'am, I am able to do A single pirouette, but doing multiple of them is hard. Also I am confused which direction can I turn on, they both seem Impossible. You are an amazing teacher, and I was hoping you could give me some tips. Thank You
Thank you for this video i love it actually I just wanna know if is it possible to learn ballet even if I'm 19 years old !? Because i love it a lot and i couldn't learned it when i was little
Thanks for the comment, Meriem! Yes, it is definitely possible to learn at 19! I believe you can learn at any age, especially when applying the Revolutionary Principles of Movement. Best of luck!
Hi! I started this year at the age of 18. I am now 19 and doing pre - pointe training. It is sooooo fun and you can defs do it! A little late so hope you have started already :)
I do not understand how to start the fouette. To go from preparing to turn, to getting that leg out in front, somehow messes with my head. I feel so silly.
Doing fouettes has always been something very difficult to me because I feel my legs are way too heavy and also I lose my spot so easy... I never understand why. I even feel dizzy when doing any kind of fast turns. This has happened to me since always, is so frustrating.
Gabriela, Keep practicing your spot and focus. Try visualizing your vision as a physical thing. For instance if you imagine your focus as a laser beam hitting your target and even going beyond, it is easier to achieve and maintain a strong spot.
You need to apply 2-way energy, meaning drive down through your supporting leg while lifting up through the body. Also think about where your center of gravity is or should be during the turn element of the fouetté .
Yes, it is perfectly ok. That means you are probably a natural left turner. Most dancers have a side that is easier to turn but that doesn't mean you should neglect turning in the other direction as well.
Instead of thinking about staring, imagine that your eyes are like laser beams that actually make contact with your spot. Also make sure that you are not tensing or gripping your neck so that your head and focus can come around easily.
If you're not pointing your toes it means that you are not sending energy out through legs and feet and beyond your toes. All Movement and dance requires a counter resistance and use of energy.
I’ve been wanting to be a dancer ever since I was little, however we couldn’t afford dance lessons when I was younger. Now we have a little bit more money and I might be able to do lessons. However, I’m 14. Do you think it’s possible I could still even be a dancer? I have zero experience and zero flexibility😬
Of course it's possible! And you don't always need expensive classes. Through my TH-cam channel and video products, I hope to bring dance lessons directly to you in your home! www.cherylale.com/the-spark/
Hi Madison. Absolutely. If you do therapeutic barre everyday and gently stretch you will see results over time. Keep in mind your body is still growing so you might see changes in flexibility. Be patient with yourself.
If you take ballet or any other type of dance class for that matter, the teacher will use the proper names for steps while they are demonstrating combinations. Ballet terms are in french which usually describes the step or action. You can also look online for ballet terms and descriptions as well. Let me know if this answers your question.
Heyyyyy guys please help me I want to learn ballerina I'm 13 and i want to learn ballet so so bad but sadly I'm the most not flexible person The whole wide world can find and I'm not taking any class just watching TH-cam Lolz Hehehehehe because I'm poor so please help me learn how to ballet please please please some tips or tricks or rules or hacks or whatsoever thing that can help because I'm afraid I might get injured and no one's here to teach me so please please please help me🙂🙃😕🙁☹️😣😪😢😭✌🏻️😂❤️💜🙏🏻😭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😭
I know I'm months late, but I do ballet myself. There aren't any hacks for ballet, because the technique has to be perfect. Every day, I use my dresser, desk, anything with an edge will work, and practice my balance. You don't have to be incredibly flexible for ballet, you just need balance. Try grande pliés in your room, without holding on to anything. Work out your core (Sit ups, etc) Try Relevés in place, in 1st, 4th, and 5th. Those will work your ankles, and make them stronger. Hell, you can even try soutenus across the room. After you get good at soutenus, try a pirouette. It's something you need to work at, a lot. It won't happen overnight. I would suggest working on a few of the smaller things before going for a Fouette. Mine aren't even perfect

Tee C haha my dance teacher is around her age, and has been teaching for many years and she wears scarfs!😂

I can't keep my balance when I turn
Emily #emlife same

RPM Dance thankyou SO much for helping it helped my balance more and I almost have my turns THANKYOU 😀😀😀
Emily #emlife I had the same problem. When in a pirouette shoot upward and tighten your core. Keeping your center on mass in the same place is key
Emily #emlife SAME it’s so hard to keep balance
As a teacher it's inspiring to watch your videos. Your positivity, energy, and the way you break things down resonates with my teaching style, and reminds me why I love ballet so much! Thank you :)
You're welcome, Elizabeth. I'm so glad you find these videos helpful. I love getting feedback from teachers!
I love this teacher.
She is so good and knows exactly the ever present monster of fear of making mistakes.
Yes it did... I took ballet but only for two years from six until I was eight. So much of it I forgot, but I will go online and look it up. Thank you.
I'm a newish dancer and my biggest problem is that I don't stay in the same place when I turn. Do you have any tips?☺
Thanks for the comment! You need to establish two way energy by driving energy down through your supporting leg while continuing to lift up through your body in the opposite direction. Good for you but be patient with yourself.
THANK YOU! My current teacher doesn't incorporate fouettes into center work, so I've forgotten how to do them. :/
I wish my teacher was like her
Was yours mean and not actually helpful? If so, same.
Do you have any drills or barre e exercises to assist in strengthen the dance to execute these turns better?

I'm an Irish dancer and I always thought ballet looked really cool!
And I always thought Irish Dancing looked really cool. Do you know that the principles of movement and patterns of energy apply to all forms of dance?
Thank you so much! You are a motivating teacher❤ I subbed

This is really good! So, would the same principals apply for a jazz fouetté where your hip is closed? 🤔
Yes!
RPM Dance Thank you!

I started dancing at age 9 which is a bit late for me, do u think I could catch up with my team?
Of course you can! A little hard work will go a long way. Best of luck to you!
I do it on the right leg is that ok
Yes, it is perfectly ok. That means you are probably a natural left turner. Most dancers have a side that is easier to turn but that doesn't mean you should neglect turning in the other direction as well.
tips on fouettés on point?
I subscribed
Hiii big fan!, do you have any tips for ballet on ur period please?
I can’t stare at a spot and not Loose it do have any tips also I can’t get the formation
Instead of thinking about staring, imagine that your eyes are like laser beams that actually make contact with your spot. Also make sure that you are not tensing or gripping your neck so that your head and focus can come around easily.
My moms a principal ballerina
i seem to loose control when i try to spin.. do u have any tips for me? im pretty new to dancing
Anna, make sure to engage your muscles and most importantly (and most helpful) spot!
when I am trying to do it I jump when turning. How do you fix that?
You are not sending enough energy or force down through your supporting leg when you turn.
I can do fouette turns.. Like 3 of them.. The hard thing is, I seem to have trouble pointing my toes.. I lose my balance if I do..
If you're not pointing your toes it means that you are not sending energy out through legs and feet and beyond your toes. All Movement and dance requires a counter resistance and use of energy.
How do you not get dizzy ..?
I'm a new dancer but I'm not that flexible. Do you have any tips?
This helped me ! My best friend and me are trying out to be the best ballerina so this helped us super good
I am ex figure skater and I am now cheerdancer and headspot is hardest thing to me. I always forget it :/

I need to come back to this when I get calf strength
I used to be a ballet dancer but I was the top of my class
I am not flexible at all and I am 11 do u think I can become a dancer
Hi Madison. Absolutely. If you do therapeutic barre everyday and gently stretch you will see results over time. Keep in mind your body is still growing so you might see changes in flexibility. Be patient with yourself.
