Big news! 🎉 🐴 My course on gaining & maintaining your horse’s respect is now live! If you’re interested, you can learn more here: shop.equinehelper.com/
The title “Make Your Horse Respect You” with the word “make” in it is problematic. When was the last time you gave your respect to another human being because that person “made” you? Respect is earned.
Yes! Tucker is so good and well-trained, but I’m working with a young horse that doesn’t always understand my cues. Would love to see work done with a less-experienced horse. ❤
I really enjoy your teaching! Your style is gentle and positive. You do an amazing job of breaking down the skills. BUT....all of the skills I'm really wanting to learn (basic groundwork and respect) are bei.g demonstrated with Tucker, a seriously well trained and respectable horse. It would be immensely helpful to see you work with a beginner horse. Watching the skills in real life action would be awesome. Tucker teaches me what the end goal looks like, not the process.
Absolutely! I need the same.I am a first time horse owner and have had my baby since the day she was born. She's a large quarter horse who can be stubborn and absolutely does not like her feet messed and it's a struggle to get her hooves trimmed. How do I get her to accept the foot care?
Hi, I have a new and fairly green 10 year old mare. I have tried some of these exercises with her and with time they do work like a breeze. With younger horses it may take a bit longer, especially if you bought them from the Amish, haha.
Exactly. The point is, she’s teaching you WHAT to do. So keep doing it UNTIL your horse “mirrors” what Tucker is doing. It wouldn’t matter if she provides videos with a green af horse… The point is to teach you what to do and to KEEP doing it UNTIL your horse mirrors what Tucker is doing. Training is repetitive and requires a LOT of patience. And I bet ANYTHING Tucker was NOT trained like this when she got him. I would bet money. SHE trained him. Guaranteed. How? By doing exactly what she’s showing us. Take it or leave it, but if you choose to implement her tips, you just HAVE to be patient, do it CORRECTLY, be more patient, and CONSISTENT. Don’t expect results if you’re also not spending any time with your horse bonding… (Grooming, walks, just being with them in their stall)… Grab and book and sit with them. They need to know they can trust you before you embark on a training program. This is done by spending time with them. Once you’ve established rapport with them, THEN move in desensitization exercises and training. BUT, again, don’t expect results there either if you’re only out there training once a week; once in a blue moon… This requires a LOOOT of consistency. It’s key. ESP with a super green horse, baby, etc. Just like going to the gym… Don’t expect to get fit and lean or whatever your goals are if you’re only going once every two/three weeks… Ain’t gonna happen.
I am 60 years old and have little knowledge about horses. I love watching your videos because they're so informative and I get a deeper appreciation for their magnificence. Maybe i will learn to ride? I will see
Young Lady I am impressed. I have been a horse trainer for many decades. I have not seen many that can teach as well as you without having an attitude. It's great you make it okay that people are a work in progress just like their horse. I would like to offer one thing that I bet just slipped your mind because you were showing what the proper response looks like. I found that there are verbal cues if you talk to your horse as your working them many times the sound of your voice can be calming if you use them in your foundation work and ground work. When you disengage the hind end lunging you are stopping your horse so saying " whoa" every time but say it then ask with pressure They will quickly learn to stop facing you on the word . You don't have to be loud . When starting young horses the ground work is the time to teach these verbal command . They will be handy the first time you get on.
I have recently returned to riding after a 20 year break. I brought a horse that has done high level competition and has had a lot of training. However, I have lost a lot of confidence and I find that he is now pushing me around and has become the boss. This video has been very helpful and I am excited to get out and try these techniques with my boy. I really want to build a great relationship with my boy and am very excited about the future....if I can get past my fears!
@@SH-cp8te @equiiDiana To anyone asking.... Unfortunately the day I was supposed to pay and take it home, the owner told me he sold it to someone else. I was so upset I cried a lot. She was such an amazing horse, a mare 17hh, palomino and sooooo sweet. But yeah,,, life isn't always predictable. Now I'm just waiting to find an other amazing horse worth the cost. Btw I have a loan horse now and im kinda happy in the meantime :)
I am teaching my first lesson to a 9 year old girl tomorrow, my mare is one of the sassiest horse ever. She's a pure breed Arabian. This was really helpful.
My horse fits right in to the last two comments. Half Arab and half Andalusian. BTW, horses are a product of our expectations. Arabs can be the quietest horses ever and very beginner safe.
I am working with a resque horse. Love your advices but please could you do it with an other horse, a traumatised or scared or non experienced horse? It would be more realistic. thank you so much
As you requested; my dream horse is what I just put a down payment on and going to pick up next week. I searched in a 200 mile radius to find a 1 1/2 year old double registered paint quarter horse Tobiano. This is my first horse but I’m very confident in myself when it comes to taking the time to learn the right way to raise and teach a horse. Thank you and all the others that take the time to help us newbs.
Love your videos! At 58 I got my first horse early this summer, a calm, gentle 15 yo 16hh black tobiano paint gelding named Chaplin. He’s being a great first horse and your videos are helping us both learn to work better together everyday. Thanks for all the help you provide!
I love watching your videos. As a new horse owner at 62, I find them invaluable. I don’t know anything about horses but am working with a trainer and your videos help reinforce her training. Luckily I have an incredible horse who is very patient with me and we are a pretty good team in just a few months. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
This gives me hope...I am 63 and just starting to prepare to have my own first horse; I've always ridden the trainer's horses with lessons so I am excited at the prospect of having my very own companion! Good luck to you both!
Training a filly for the first time. I've never trained a horse before but your videos have helped me so much! Thank you! My dream horse is a fresian or Arabic
Thank you so much for this! I've had my horse for 12 years, and she went from a spitfire at first to an absolute angel. However, I just moved her to a new stable, so all those old behaviors flared up again. I had gotten so used to her being pretty much perfect that I'd needed a refresher on how to handle her when she's testing boundaries. This was perfect!
Haflinger, I had one years ago. It is the only breed that I have experienced growling, when asked to do something they know, but don't want to do. Next horse is a quarter horse. As long as the horse is healthy, size, shape and color is less 1%, 99% is what is between the ears and that we connect.
I have ridden racehorses for Hall of Fame racing outfits and this lady has to be my favourite equine helper I have found online. She has helped me want to go back to riding and I will be riding for the 2nd leading trainer at the track near me this summer. ROCK on Tucker and friends!
I bred my favorite horse breed, the Azteca, during the 2022 Pandemic. She is an American Quarter Horse and Andalusian mix. Her confirmation resembles the build of her mama (AQH), great for the trails where I live in the mountains of Panama, with the smooth gate of her paso fino papa!
I haven't done a lot of riding, and I know I'm not an expert. I *have* done lots of research though, and I think my dream breed is a Fresian. They're supposed to be gentle natured, and they're big enough that I wouldn't feel bad sitting on them, which is exactly what I would want in a horse that mainly would just be for trail rides and for fun. The gorgeous looks are definitely a plus too though.
Over the last 40 years we have had the most beautiful relationships with our full Arabian horses, and national show horse. Amazing physical skills, intelligence, personality, and loving connection. My national show horse was my best friend and my wife’s Arabian saved my life
You are so helpful. I’ve been working with my 20yr mare I’ve had for about 11 yrs and she is an Appaloosa (my most favorite breed). I love her so much. We always do a little ground work so she knows we are in it together. Very quiet very calm just move or remind her what she knows already. I bred her one more time and retired her from breeding. She was a challenge for the breeders so they gave her to me for free. She needed so much ground work so over the years I’ve used yours and others helpful information. It’s been so much fun with her. I’ve allowed her to be who she is. We water the garden we fetch water, go for long walks and lay around wherever we feel like. I recommend your site to all of my ranch friends who have said how helpful you are and I’ve seen them in the round pen a time or two! Thank you, thank you so much for your help and your tips! ❤
i'm going to ride a horse that what they say has no respect and they need someone who can stand their ground, next to the horse and on top if it. This video is so helpfull for some exrecices i can do with him to gain some trust and respect!

Thank you for your videos! I just found your channel and am enjoying learning more about horse care and behavior. I have always loved horses, but have never really been around them. Now I have 5 acres and have been trying to prepare for getting horses in the future by learning as much as I can. My dream horse is a Friesian. I was in love the moment I first set eyes on them.
Someday I dream of having an Andalusian!!😍🤩🥰 But for my first horse, I'll probably go for a Pinto, Appaloosa, or Mustang. Thank you so much, your videos are amazing!

Just bought my first horse finally after 25 years of wanting one (since I was 5 years old!). He is a bay TWH. My realistic dream horse is a black and white TWH or Spotted Saddle Horse and my ultimate dream horse is a Friesian!
Your videos are so helpful! I acquired my first ever horses a year ago from my cousin after she sold her farm. They are miniature horses and both are trained to drive. Unfortunately, they know a lot more about driving than I do. I’m also trying to learn horsemanship but there’s nobody around me to take lessons from. Horsemanship is a lot more complicated than I thought. I have two German shepherds that I have trained. There are some similarities, but a lot more differences in how they think. Right now, my main horse I work with is Sparky...a 7 year old gelding. We have a great relationship, but we need to work on exactly what you’re showing here.
You are fantastic! I just startet riding after not doing it in 6 years! The horse I take care of in the stable has such a big personality & even though he is 7 years he act like a kiddo. He plays a lot on my feelings & doesnt respect me all the time. So im really happy I found this video of yours! 😍🙌🏽 I will train this on him tomorrow! You explaning really well how to do things & I love your work! Hoping to get closer to my silly Bambi.. 🥺 you and tucker gives me hope!!
So helpful! I have a thoroughbred mare who could use some more manners and respect haha Also, I just bought my dream horse. A beautiful 18 hand Shire Gelding!
I was hesitent in watching your videos but, after I saw one you hooked me I work with horses in Mexco but I learned some new techniques on some things your very good.

These are all easy fixes. Can you use an u untrained horse so we can see the responses we will deal with
Great content. One suggestion: Please use a horse that doesn't know what you're teaching so folks can see things going wrong!
Make a series of those videos with many different green horses and give us an idea of time elapsed between getting the desired results.
Yes! Tucker is so good and well-trained, but I’m working with a young horse that doesn’t always understand my cues. Would love to see work done with a less-experienced horse. ❤

Love from sweden btw! 💌
My dream horse is probably a Thoroughbred horse or a american quarter horse!!!!
So helpful! I have a thoroughbred mare who could use some more manners and respect haha
Also, I just bought my dream horse. A beautiful 18 hand Shire Gelding!
