Background:
Cambodian believe that our race born from a hybrid between Human- serpent Naga. Our Goddess is Naga Queen, the 7 heads serpent and she was belief to be the first Queen of Cambodia. In our ancient kingdom of Kambuja (Cambodia) modern day Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and small part of Malaysia were rule under feminine rule.
Storytelling:
A village girl witness the foreign invader possibly Siamese (Central Thai), the invader seem to look for an sacred text heavily guided. She was so scared and frustrated but seem like she overcame it an became a warrior. She wore the Hanuman outfit (Hanuman is a a monkey god king, a great military commander in ancient story) to take over her kingdom back and protect the sacred text.
Her Song-
It is about femininity that she could overcome of very things if she kill all the negativity arround her. She asked all women to recall the Naga Goddess mother's word, that all girls would become the top leader when she has no fear and afraid of nothing. And she toke the words and lead her female army reclaimed her throne that noone could take it away from her ever again.

This song is really deep into the Cambodia’s culture. First they talk about the war that giant vs human, second to show about the first religion and first King of Khmer Empire is the Lady. Last thing u wonder about the animal at the end, that’s Cambodian’s 7Heads King Dragon.
The singer is Tep Boprek and she paid for the production herself and she published subtitles in four languages including English. I watched the same video as you the first time and had the same reaction. When I saw the English subtitles I had a new respect for song... Very powerful. Look for the original video with more than 3 million views.

It is a rain dance that explores the Cambodian myth of thunder, lightning, and rain associated with Hindu and Buddhist mythology. Most of the time, this dance depicts the fight between Reamesor and Moni Mekhala where Reamesor (Ramasura/ Parashurama) or Ream Eyso attempts to seize the magical crystal ball from Moni Mekhala and this fighting creates a storm.

The Reamker differs from the original Ramayana in some ways, featuring additional scenes and emphasis on Hanuman and Sovanna Maccha.
4. The girl fighting in the battlefield known as Bokator
Bokator is an ancient battlefield martial art used by ancient Khmer military groups. It is one of the oldest existing fighting systems originating from Cambodia. Oral tradition indicates that bokator (or an early form thereof) was the close quarter combat system used by the ancient Cambodian armies before the founding of Angkor. A common misconception is that bokator refers to all Khmer/Cambodian martial arts, while in reality it only represents one particular style.
There are a lot more and this is a part of Khmer culture and civilization which our ancestors left for us.

She [ the singer ] dedicated this song to our ancient queen called Liv Yee or Sorma. She was the ruler of Funan and the first king of the mainland (1st century). She was also the first female leader of Cambodia. She was the queen of the first Kaundin dynasty.

From our very 1st history, Khmer was lead by the lady who named Queen Soma, or Livyi. She started to build the nation by her own with her people. We always show our gratitude to the lady. Cambodia histories come along way!! If you google from the Geographic map about “ Khmer Empire” is indeed a very massive territories that expanded to half part of South East Asia mainland from all Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thai( Siem) nowadays .

She couldn’t provide sub titles because the lyrics is hard to put in English as she used khmer ancient languages as well. In this MV, she also put most kinds of Cambodia culture and temples as recently we had culture conflict with Thailand. She want to show that we are the owner of everything on our land. I dun think we need to proof them at all as since the beginning we are the owner. she wants to encourage young generation here to be aware of our culture and be together protect it.

In the start is the Khmer story telling, like the traditional way, we called Lakhon Niyeay "ល្ខោននិយាយ" The story is from RiemKee "រឿងរាមកេរ្តិ៍". Normally Lakhon Niyeay is telling with the show of Lakhon Sbek Thom and Toch "ល្ខោនស្បែកតូច និង ល្ខោនស្បែកធំ"។
Then they also show about the Khmer kingdom War since many centuries ago. And design the custom that about the ហនុមាន the Monkey war from the ReamKee "រាមកេរ្តិ៍" Story.
In a part of this music show about the weapon of Cambodia Angel from the Khmer dragon king of Zodiac year.
The material art called Lbok Toa "ក្បាច់គុណល្បុក្កតោ".
The traditional dance, Royal ballet. Traditional accessories custom since Angkor Empire.
