My grandma had one of these in her basement (we're Mormon so I have no idea what activities she was engaged in that she came across--and then purchased--a brand-new pinball machine) but my brother and I spent EVERY summer of our childhood, basically secluded in the basement playing this machine and bingeing MTV countdowns. I used to sit underneath the machine as a 6 year old to switch it on, and those humming whirs would start, and that creaky eject that launched the ball to the plunger. There was so much to learn, intuitively, about physics and about motion and the interplay of light and sound. This is the magical sound of summers in Cleveland in the late 70s/early 80s. Had a Williams aces and kings in the mid 70's. Every kid was on our porch in Summer without a shirt with a blueberry popsicle and we would play taking turns for hours.
