Favorite scene in the movie! Jeremy Piven does a great job of showing a man who is so broken And on the brink of a nervous break down right in this scene and the music beautifully ties it all together!
I think this entire performance is the best of Jeremy Piven's career. Especially the scene where he tries to shoot himself and he's all fucked up on coke and crying. As everyone else has said in the comments, this movie is highly underrated.
And it makes sense with the movie because the song is about simpler time when we were kids. Yet Buddy Israel is going through a complex adult situation
tommytwo8s idk... definitely in the top 5 of 2007 but sorry I’m gonna have to say “ there will be blood” With Daniel Day Lewis was definitely the best movie of 2007 hands down
Imo, Buddy’s scene shows the dichotomy of his character gift and flaws as one. He’s an illusionist, his job (and he says it later on) is to make people see what he wants them to see: a successful top bill Vegas show act and mafioso but really he knows he’s a degenerate and a “fake” gangster who bit off more than he can chew. Imagery of the colored contacts lenses show that perfectly. Love this underrated movie.
I like how Joel Edgerton can portray a moron but at the same time portray a silent type that is serious apart from Hugo haha especially going back to this film, how all the actors play a part that is totally different from the roles their doing now.
Buddy: So we've got the semen, hmkay? We've got the human ejaculate that's been allowed to work its way into the fabric fucking fibers for seven hours... Yugo: You want I should send out? Buddy: To what, incinerate? Yugo, there is not a cleaning product known to man that will get that stain out. Some shit, suffice it to say, just don't wash out. Yugo: You want me to apologize? Buddy: Only if you really truly mean it.
1:48 The way they switch between sides of his face with and without the lenses, when he covers one half of it like he struggles to figure out which part of himself is real and which one is just a show as he loses his mind to cocaine. It's so friggin sad.
@@brandonfranzen5191 must’ve been fun, acid always captures a moment you’ll always remember when your watching a film, i felt the same way when i watched boogie nights and the “jessies girl” song came on, shit was trippy on acid
in college at parties, I would tell all the chicks that one (pick a friend) had a blue eye and a green eye. The girls would always go up tto them and stare into their eyes. Sooo fast forward a couple years, at a party, a new friend actually Did have them.
agreed best movie of 2007.. this movie is so much deeper than what is just represented as a contracted killing spree. and this scene is a very pivital plot change in the movie where Buddy Israels alter ego realizes it has failed and it is all over.. amazing scene and classic movie and the song Big White Cloud is just classic..
Y'know, I've never seen this movie, but I know the song very well. I don't know the context of the scene, but I can tell you that I have that same glossy eyed stare every time I hear the song.
I think Smokin' Aces is an underappreciated modern day classic.
This movie was my movie ! Watched it a million times when I was in High School. Top favorite movie

I saw this at the theater and I loved it. I was blown away by how good it was. Piven was incredible. Plus I love Mob movies.
One of the best scenes ever the song makes it that much better,it's a feeling we all go through standing in front of a mirror looking at our lives
I did that once and a friend told me to enjoy the party
I've been searching for this song for years omg
I love Hugo’s smile when security lets him through with his gun, as if he made it to the promise land
Jeremy Piven plays himself perfectly in this movie
Not since Courtney Love in The People vs. Larry Flint has an actor delivered such a believable performance.
Love this song!! What an actor he is. The film is quite underrated
Perfect song for this scene
""And stop using that lotion, you look like a damn muppet."
Best 2007 movie! who agrees!?

Too bad stupid critics shit on it. Even back then I knew it was a classic and one of my favorite movies to date

I finally found this fucking song.
It's been stuck in my head for so many years.
Thank you so much to the person who uploaded this video
Hard to believe "Hugo" is Joel Edgerton from The Thing, Warrior, and Zero Dark Thirty.
zero dark thirty? Which character? 😯

Joe Carnahan made this movie way better than it deserved
Thank you! I knew he was Brendan in Warrior!!!

Even the song was epic.
Of course it's epic, it's f*ckin' John Cale!
Always impressed
How about putting John Cale in the titles? At least the viewers of this song then know who it´s from. Credit to where credit is due!
Holy shit that's the stretchiest aspect i ever seen on a video youtube ever
Last comment, 11 months ago..people are forgetting about this movie...

Excuse me, Charles. Now Mr. Piven, you have my permission to cry. lol
lol, and like ship-wrecked men turning to sea water from uncontrollable thirst, many have cried trying...
So true.
Yegor from mw is here
Take 2 clonazepam as prescribed , wait 5 mins ...then watch this scene in pure bliss 🤤😋
Benzos are shit breh. Unless you're a 15-year-old or a bored housewife. Do better drugs! lol

Buddy Aces Israel
No problem, Charles Bronson, ps Tom Hardy did you justice. And you guys could pass as real life bros.
🤣
damn to be high again
I miss cocaine so much
Try snorting properly then my man 💪 😂
I love Hugo's fashion sense but I hate that haircut. That haircut is even worse than Kim Jung Un.
Try your acting skills out for a few more thousand years.
