He was dealt a very bad hand this season…his line isn’t good, key players injured every game, and his teammates have blown a games despite him playing well. He played flawless against the Rams, but the Bell literally dropped the pass to ice the game. He played good enough for them to win against the Cardinals too, but Mason fumbled on the drive that the Niners could’ve put the game away. Without these mishaps, the Niners are 7-3.

Grant, tbf, you have to compare Purdy's first 2-3 years as a QB in the NFL to other quarterbacks we know that are or are going to be in the Hall of Fame. How was Brady's first year or two? How was Peyton Manning's first few years? How long did it take some of these quarterbacks to truly come into their own? And what was the situation and culture of the team they succeeded with? Context is key. Russell Wilson and Sam Darnold are prime examples. On the wrong team, with the wrong culture, they didn't do so well. Get them on the right team with the right culture, look out. That's not just some quarterbacks that applies to. That's all quarterbacks. It's a team sport.
