I follow you mostly for your witty humor and snark. You never cease to let me down. Ironically I was just thinking about you the other day. I was discussing with my daughter about my ballet days. I mentioned something to her about how one of the gals in my classes had had knitted leg warmers where the top looked like a cat. They had been her mom's that she wore for warm up during her dancing days that had been knitted by her mother who had been a professional ballerina during WWII. My daughter asked me if I could knit a pair. First of all dear child I have no talent for knitting and second of all you don't dance. I do however know this really cool TH-camr who probably could knit something like that. Cue eye rolling and hormonal swing and stomping off in disappointment to her room. Anyways I do have an idea for you. I loved that you made a total 80's vibe vest and the semi Edwardian blouse together. So my idea is to make some fun stuff that makes you happy enough that you feel like dancing around with David Bowie and a bunch of puppets. Please include your snark, it gives me something to work off of when dealing with my teenagers. So if you want to upload twice a month work on one project that gives you those happy vibes and maybe even something that makes you fit in with the other girls even if it is just for a little bit. Even if its in a mutiny part series. And then for your second video do a yarn craft. And if you are feeling exceptionally bold do a yarn tutorial one in a while. Those of us who enjoy the sewing channels already know how to sew even if it is just the basics. I enjoy seeing you try to fit your body to patterns that are for a certain body type. Even if you are met with frustration and disappointment. Because its nice to know those of us who don't have that body type aren't alone in our struggles. I decided to hop on board with the robe train and trying to find a batten to make myself a robe/housecoat/dressing gown or what ever it is you want to call it. I went so.ething I can wrap myself in when i'm feeling too lazy to get dressed or need to run the trash up to the street at the last minute. Or in the unfortunate case of my daughter, the dog takes off after another dog or wants to go greet a snow birds walking by and should have to go chasing after him. I don't own a onesie that looks like a cross between a decapitated penguin and a shark (its supposed to be an orca) to wear while chasing him do an the street in. I don't need the neighbors to see me chase stupid in my night gown either😳 Anyways good luck with what ever you do with your channel. I love all things crafty and your snark.💕

Oooh, I'd love to see useful tatting! I'm not big on lots of frills and floof in my personal wardrobe, but I keep circling around the edges of tatting, peering over the wall as it were. My main craft was knitting, long before I started sewing (and longer still before I started sewing clothing). I've dabbled in crochet, cross stitch, and a few others I've forgotten - it's StitchyPants, not KnittyPants, for a reason 😉 I'm realising that the channels I enjoy most are those people who are multi-craftual, whether it's Rachel Maksy's foam clay and fabric, or RetroClaude's knitting and sewing. It's more relatable to my own experience, and I'd rather see someone doing something that genuinely sparks their curiosity and creativity than artificially limit themselves to a single craft. After all, nothing is more engaging than honest enthusiasm. (For the record, 45 year old woman in England, and I'm about to go watch that Shetland video you mentioned 😁)
It's a very short, very slippery slope from "functional lace tatting" to "OMG this doily is FANTASTIC!" Trust me on this. You think you're just going to make a simple collar edging and next you know, it's doilies and antimacassars. Not because that's your aesthetic...no, no...it's the CHALLENGE. Just...don't fight it. Get a couple of Handy Hands Aerlit shuttles and a cheap 9-pack of plastic shuttles from a Clover knockoff from Amazon, and Handy Hands 5-pack of #10 thread and enjoy your descent into thready purgatory. Costs less than $100 CDN, and it will keep you entertained for HOURS. That's how I justify it, anyhow 😆
I'm here for personality and tenacity. Thanks for not being "click bait" or annoyingly positive or negative. Let's just say listening to honest conversation is oddly refreshing in thi over the top analytics world. I'm here to sit and enjoy as much as you are! I lucked into 12 scanes of alpaca yarn for a dollar each at a garage sale, years back. I made a nice long knitted scarf. It ended up being too warm! How!?! It for some reason just didn't breathe the same and caused me to sweat more. It's sitting in a drawer - waiting for me to unravel it and blend it with some cotton. It's not high on my list, but still nagging me around the winter months.

Please continue with both your knitting/crochet & sewing videos! You are my people! I love all of these crafts & would like to do historical sewing but being plus size the patterns available (& cost of fabric in Canada) is extremely restrictive! My BFF told me I'm not allowed to drag her into any more hobbies... but if you come up to the Edmonton area, I highly recommend checking out Jo's Yarn Garden.
Fabric here is just wild, price-wise. Find all those hole-in-the-wall shops that, like the Tardis, are bigger on the inside. When I have a few dollars to spare, there's a store carrying Real Wool Fabric that I'd like to hit up for a winter skirt for next year... I'll try to remember Jo's Yarn Garden next time I'm up in the north-central area of the province! 😃

I think I first found you because of your sewing videos, but what keeps me here is your sense of humour and relatability. I'm in a similar boat as you when it comes to frustration sizing up patterns, and the fact that you're also in Canada and make references I get is just icing on the cake.
From the plus sized middle aged multi-craft addicted misfit group, I enjoy your channel because it is much like you... a representative of the chaotic enjoyment of the creative journey. Also, there is a way too small group of people you can spend time watching who would understand the glory of the old goth days, who Cid is, the high of trying new crafts, who Mayor Lewis is dallying with, the frustration of the plus sized clothing world, the desire to be frilly and comfortable (unique), all while being in hock to a seedy raccoon. It might be that the answer isn't what we want but who your target audience is. I don't behoove anyone the decision to alter their content to reach the wider audience. Financially, there is absolute sense in it. You will always have a set of people who drift in and out testing the waters to see where your content fits. You will also always have those of us who are here for your content, not what you do but that you are doing it.
I love seeing your videos pop up. I get a cup of tea and settle in for nice chats or projects. Knitting, crocheting, tatting, sewing or anything else you plan will be lovely.

She has Patreon classes that taught me how to create my own blocks, and I have watched Bianca of "Closet Historian" for years. (And tried the method and book she recommended.) I learned a lot from Bianca, but Tara has suggestions that fit a 'non-pattern company standard' body better.

As to the sock machine, Engineering Knits has a video on her purchase (and use) of a Dean and Bean CSmachine ("How were the Victorians so fast at Knitting Socks") and I'll be honest, for a 3D printed machine, it looks really well-made.
Hey Woman, good to see your smiling face in this new year. Yes, to all the projects - sewing, knitting, tatting and whatever else catches your eyes and fingers.. As far as the Algorithmic Overlord is concerned - the first 5,000 seems to be the steepest part of the hill to climb. After that, the weaponized math seems to understand you and your content - at least on a base level. I think 10,000 is entirely possible to reach by the end of the year. Right now I'm living in the time-crunch that is getting my 1950's weskit pattern hand and machine embroidered before I put it all together for the FR deadline. I'm hand quilting the different species of fish, a la the Tristan Quilt at the VA, as we type. It's going to be titled "Rideau River, Strathcona Park, August", in honour of my favorite in-city fishing spot. I was lucky enough to qualify for a scholarship membership, so it seems a little rude not to take part in the competition. Besides it being the first thing I've sewn in months (stooopid truck nuts and their repeated attempts to mess with my neighbourhood...). I am very partial to the yarn crafts (crochet, knitting, weaving, spinning) and also cross-stitch, but I love the variety you have on the channel. It feels like a very honest and realistic view into a multi-craftual persons creative life. I too have piles of sock yarn, and as sadly, the main recipient of them, apart from me died last year. So I only have me to knit socks for now. I love your eclectic mix of videos, and have started using some in some granny squares, but have acquired a really thick Tunisian crochet hook and some thick yarn to try something a little different. Love your vintage sewing machine, reminds me of one grandma had, so would love to see you getting it up and running as well as using it. Make the things that make you happy, and make the videos you want we like your style. Looking forward to future videos already.

That sock yarn is good for so many things...even though your sock recipient list is currently low, there are also shawls and mitts, and sweaters...I have a bin full of all my leftover balls from socks that I'm currently working into a granny blanket. The lace scarf was indeed how I ended up here, I think, back when it was fairly new. I'm personally not much of a knitting person but I do still enjoy your knitting content a lot, precisely because you have such variety and focus on the exploration, rather than show and tell. The eclecticness and the sheer restfulness of the cronecore vibes are a notable part of why I'm hyped when I see you update! I would be Very excited to see more spinning stuff, and on that note, I want to thank you, because you're the one who taught me that espinners existed and that I wasn't actually locked out of even dreaming to spin by disability. That one unboxing video triggered a chain reaction that led to me getting to enjoy a craft that's quickly becoming a favourite, and also led me to discover related creators. i just realized that i’ve been watching for a fair few years - since around the jacquard or maybe the tiny stitches crochet lace? it’s really nice having another multicrafter to vibe with, especially when i really work best when other people are doing similar things near me! you’re the one who showed me that you can knit flat on circular needles, which let me step into knitting when i never have been able to before (the straight needles always end up getting tangled around my elbows somehow?) so thank you for that! good luck getting sponsorships! it’s always nice to be actually paid for things!
I love watching your channel. It has grown to become a cross section of the best parts of nostalgia, serial multi-crafting and trying new things. I think you already have found your voice and are just working on the presentation part now. My advice is to worry less about niching down and more about following the authentic and what brings you joy. It is most fun when watching you have fun. People who can't handle everything you are can be welcome to bugger off and find a channel that offers less. In the meantime, those of us who appreciate your knowledge, wisdom and vivacity will gladly stick around and watch. :)

I love both the knitting/crochet and sewing. As a non yarn crafter the process of spinning and tutorial based ones don't catch my attention as much as the handmade wardrobe stuff does. But I love the finished projects and love the ideas you come up with and where your inspiration comes from. Keep up the good work!

Ugh I feel you on the random view variations and how that can make you question the direction of your channel! I started mine a few months back, and compared to when I first had a TH-cam channel (with a different focus) a few years back, it is so.much.harder to get anything approaching a consistent viewership... also true for Instagram. It seems so random which videos get consistent views and which ones don't. For what it's worth, I always am amazed that your subscriber count is not way higher because you are a joy to listen to! I always love sitting down with your videos when I'm in a bad mood, because your sense of humour never fails to cheer me up. I think my favourite of your videos is the Fandom Knits video, so many great patterns!

Oh, that sewing machine is STUNNING! I've never seen that brand before. Could you possibly give us a kind of mini-tour? I love Knit Picks Hawthorne. It has a high twist and can feel - not rough, but textured - but it softens nicely with blocking. That twist also means that it takes ripping-out well. Figured that out because of the damned hat I'm trying to design. It's in time-out. I like the variety of your videos! I do all the same crafts and I love to see other multi-crafters! I'm not plus-sized and my input might be completely useless, but the pattern company Cashmerette specializes in plus-sizes and has a lot of good reviews. They're online and recently-ish have migrated to being sold at Joann, which is pretty cool! Resin and tatting coasters sounds amazing!
I love watching all your videos. I'm a fibre chaos creator. Sewing, crochet (normal and tunisian) and weaving with the occasional fly by knitting. I'm actually laid in bed binge watching your vids while c2c a baby blanket and a shawl and tunisian crocheting blanket squares in simple stitch. should be sewing but haven't got the energy currently.
I'm trying (and yes I can be, very) My energy levels always sink at this time of year. Laid here listening to a howling gale. Thankfully no rain or snow (yet). Hopefully will have enough energy to sew by the weekend. Need to make 2 outfits by middle of Feb. Luckily its viking period so just rectangles, squares and triangles. Not 'the tic so doing them on the machine. Look forward to your next video. Write out your projects on bits of paper and stick them in a hat... Pick one from there :)
I enjoy the variety of content. I am also a multi crafter, current in progress projects being a twin size quilt, and crochet cardigan for my eldest, a couple of knit hats for myself and husband, with plans for 2 more quilts for my other children, learning to knit socks this year. Also really want to start diving into making my own clothes this year. Its nice seeing content from someone who also cant pick just one interest.
Honestly, I don't know what my Mum was thinking when she exposed me to quilting, knitting and cross-stitch before the age of 10. 😉 After quilting, I think making your own clothes will be fairly easy. Start small if you can. Make things that interest you. Socks are a walk in the park if you can knit and purl. Trust me on this 😃

Learning how to do a F.B.A first will be your best start to a happy outcome for clothes you will wear and enjoy. Then, a basic bodice block. You can do it, and, I'm sure you will enjoy sewing more. I want to know if it is possible to make a sweater with a full bust adjustment. Sweaters always pull across my bust and look b.a.
I've never investigated twitch so I can't comment on that platform. But I often watch TH-cam live streams after they've been recorded (I'm on the other side of the world to most of my favourite creators!)
Hi, my name is Lorna, and I have crafting ADHD. Personally, I'd enjoy all of what you mentioned. But I'm REALLY looking forward to watching you sew on the antique machine. Maybe demystify it for me a little. During the plague, I somehow got, ahem, several? (14) antique machines. Different brands, different eras. Why? They're so pretty! Even the cabinets are pretty. Now I just need to fix/ use them. P.S. I don't knit, and am stubbornly refusing to learn 😂. I do crochet, sew, embroider, some leather work, woodwork, punch embroider. And I'm learning: spinning, card weaving, pattern drafting, backstrap weaving, warp weighted weaving looks cool, maybe the Viking knitting would be fun...sigh.

@@MaireColclough I´ve seen some videos of tatting, but i´m not sure if it is a craft for me, we will see. As for cross-stitching, i have a trauma from cross-stitching, which i got from school. I have quite strong emotions about it...haha. Fashion school sound more than it is, sketching/ sewing/ drafting is very technical after all, so it is lika all other schools just learning stuff. I´m at the moment knitting an easy vintage jumper i found on ravelry. I learned knitting with straight needles only, so for me this way is much easier than with circular needles. Although i already knit two jumpers with circulars, it is weird to say, but sometimes i miss purling...The only problem with vintage jumpers is, the mostly come in one or two sizes, And i´m still not sure about adjustments in knitting. There are so many, like changing the yarn weight, changing needles, calculating extra stitches...
As a fellow multi-crafter I'm down for whatever content you put out. Regarding armchair video gaming, well my last console purchase was a GameCube and I pretty much only play Zelda and Metroid games.😜 Little tatted or crochet lace snowflake motifs cast in resin would make beautiful Yule decorations. (I've also been thinking of getting into resin art but I already have 9 hobbies.)
I'm all for any video that inspires you. I get so bored with "copy - paste" channels. You can tell the people making them are also kinda bored a lot of the time. 🤷♀️ I'd rather watch people I enjoy listening to regardless of the subject so long as they're genuinely interested in the subject. Heck, I'd watch you grocery shop if you felt like taking us along for that lol
I love the variety, cause it keeps things interesting, and the combination will cater to a wider variety of viewers. Also that you're Canadian, keep an eye on the CRTC and the potential changes that they'll be trying to force TH-cam into hosting more Canadian Content to Canadians (in line with the current CRTC for cable TV and Radio). For point of reference, I'm a subscriber from Toronto.
I honestly don't remember what video of yours drew me in, but it was probably in the height of costube or early pandemic time as most of my youtube addictions. I am a multi crafter like you, and I don't really care what type of object/garment you work on as long as you keep talking about it! I also like the videos when you pick a subject other than current projets and speak about it for a longer bit of time... a bit like Mina Le, but in my age and with my interests. ;) Now I'm gonna find that shetland shawl, because I think I missed that one...
I just found your channel and like you, I prefer a life steeped in a deplorable excess of hobbies. Your dry wit aligns nicely with own brand of humor. I'm here for the gaming (electronic or otherwise), and/or crafting of any sort, etc. I totally want to pick up an EEW now...spinning with a spindle is fine, but it's slow, and I have a short attention span.
I came for the historical knitting. I stayed because it’s nice to have more Canadian content. (Hi from BC). On knitting and sewing stuff on the type of stuff I’m interested in, a.k.a: plus size, historical, goth, and alternative unique clothing. I also feel like if I knew you in real life, we would probably get along, so sitting down with whatever videos feels like sitting down with a friend. My hope is for more knitting content in the future, but I’m definitely interested in more historical sewing content as well.

I’d love to see you use the sewing machine to make your Victorian project! I recently thrifted a 1930s singer that folds out of a small table like yours. I got it for just 15$. It has a motor, the electrical cord is rotted but that’s a quick home fix, otherwise it works fine with hand turning the wheel. It happens to be the perfect sized table when closed to allowed me to re-oganize my whole sewing room to display all the little things I wanted so it being a sewing machine is just a sweet bonus ^^ I guess I’m a sewing machine collector now as I own 2 vintage, 1 new, and 1 antique machine >.>’ Side note I found you for the sewing, and I am biased for sewing videos but I do watch your other craft videos because you are fun to watch/listen to have a sort of sew along buddy I like to have videos of people chatting and crafting while I craft. You do you, don’t get funneled into a niche that you may not enjoy as much. Just have fun and do what you want and if it’s a bit of this and that, that’s fine!
Careful with the vintage and antique machines...they multiply! The little side-table my faux vintage radio sits on is ALSO a vintage White Rotary - but electric. She's not getting switched on again until I have someone take a look at her electricals because...well, I'd rather not be a crispy critter 😆

XD I love Bernadette, but it's hard to tell how things will work on my body when she's like, a quarter my size. //dead I think we're rather kin in our love for "all the things" - variety is the spice of life. Oh the production value is always a work in progress. I'm leaning all sorts of things they never taught me in art college 😆 I feel you on the sizing issues. You have no idea how happy I was that the Bernadette-esque walking skirt actually looked GOOD! Hem stiffener is the trick. It does wonders. 😄
@@MaireColclough When I thought about establishing an art channel I worked my fingers to the bone making avatars for simple animations, making backgrounds and branding - soooo much art. (and then I stopped, because honestly, I'm not really built for this job. XDD Props to those who can do it, seriously!!) I have two walking-skirt-style skirts now, thanks to my mother! The flat front and pleats on the derriere are super flattering. The fabrics we've used so far have been pretty thick, so we haven't tried stiffening yet...hm. Maybe that would be a video idea? Showing how stiffener or interfacing affects different weights and weaves?
Tatting is one of my biggest distractions. I'll intend to get started on a sewing or knitting project and wind up playing around with tatting thread, mocking up collars 😄
Oo also try the butterick patterns by Connie Crawford!! They're the best imho. I'm a torrid size 3-6 and not even the biggest size on her size chart, which is different than the butterick usuall
I do TH-cam. I do mainly knitting, but can turn my attention to just about anything. Sadly, according to my grandsons, my gaming extends to Words and Tetris. I watch them build worlds In Minecraft and Terreria(sp). Keep up with what you are doing. And my husband enjoys your channel as well.
I enjoy all your videos. I always find a smile when watching your videos. I have never met a craft I haven’t wanted to know more about! So you popping around different crafts is fine with me! Maybe I will start collecting crafts vicariously instead of insisting I need all the stuff to do them too!! My my sewing/ crafting/ library/ office room is going to explode if I add one more craft! I think a sweater in finger weight yarn would be a punishment not a prize. It truly sounds like something that would take an eon to do! There must be an easier way to get a bicycling sweater!!! I as yet this year found one to do list item that didn’t require a minimum of 6 things that needed to be done first!! Aside from the frustration it does leave any room to complain about others time or goal settings! Here’s to a wonderful 2023!!!
You can fit tatting in your craft room. Trust me...two tatting shuttles fit in your jeans pocket and the thread is small. It takes up such little room... (yes, I'm evil. A kinder, gentler evil) 😉 Here's to 2023!

Oh yes...resin safety is very important. I've watched videos from a variety of sources and I don't plan on doing anything without proper ventilation and protection. I definitely want to be prepared before I go investing in ye olde Total Boat! 😉

Your 2023 calendar sounds chalk full ! 👍🤗 I don't know if your ears were burning ( or whatever the saying is lol) but when I watched Karolina ( the Polish utuber) do you know who I mean? She did a Goth look and I was really curious to know if you had any information on what it was like here in Canada as she mostly had pictures and research from England. I thought her look was good as she seemed to nail that 80s look.
My experience with 80s goth in high school was mostly morose teenagers wearing black and listening to the Smiths, the Cure, and Depeche Mode. My 90s goth experience was dyeing my super-straight ash blonde hair black, wearing all the black clothing my mother disapproved of, heavy black eyeliner, and wishing I could afford (and your fit into!) all the pretty Victorian-goth satin & velvet clothes sold by the Queen Street boutiques...particularly Pam Chorley's Fashion Crimes. Came out to Calgary. Mum had my hair professionally lightened (never again). I started henna-ing my hair and eased up on the makeup. Wore whatever pleased me, particularly to the club. Mostly went corporate-goth during the workday. Slowly started incorporating more of the colour advice Mum tried to impress on me in my teens. Now I keep a swatch wallet in my purse so when I go clothing or fabric shopping, I can make sure the colour will look good on me. I think the last time I used my crimper was back in the mid-80s for a high ponytail. I think it's around here somewhere. Possibly lurking at the back of a bathroom vanity 😉

Weird variety of projects, please! I've been here almost since the beginning and, yes, I'm over 55! Over 60, actually. Please keep up the snark. I'm looking at that cycling sweater too. The one I see (can't remember where, LACMA?) is machine knitted. As the owner and user of some knitting machines I think it will be doable. I am using Cashmerette patterns as my blocks now that I'm so (insert kind word for f*t here). I'm an apple shape and need a size 20 bust, 26 waist and 20 hip. I got involved with Stephanie Canada's walkaway dress challenge last year and modified the pattern and made two! It can be done. I've also done the Gunny Sax thing as I remember then from when I was a very broke older teenager. I've made two or three now and I wear them. Like you, not a great dress wearer. Good luck with the sock machine! They appear to crank them out quite quickly. I make my socks on my knitting machines, both flat and double bed, with texture and colour. I like them knitted quite tight but I think it's a bit slower, about an hour a pair. I'm also a brand new tatter. It's quite addictive. Thanks for sharing, see you next time!
I'd love to get my hands on a flat-bed knitting machine sometime...unfortunately, the folks around here know their worth and you don't generally see them for less than $200 - $1000 😉 I may try the cycling sweater in a slightly larger gauge...I guess we'll have to see. I'm hoping that drafting my own bodice blocks will let me modify or grade up most of what I'm looking for. One of my fantastic patrons sent me a book by the owner/designer of Cashmerette, so I'm hopeful I can learn a few tricks for properly sizing the patterns I have. They make a tiered wrap dress that I'm pretty sure can be Gunne-Saxed 😃

Hi there! From what I'm led to understand, "Sewist" is a bit more modern, bit more inclusive (particularly of other genders), and less service-focused. I like Seamstress and have nothing against it, but the picture in my head when using that word is that of a woman paid to mend and make garments...and that's not really me (and many of the other folks I know) 😃 I think my family used Sew-er (as opposed to sewer and waste management), but Sewist works fine for me 😉

I follow you mostly for your witty humor and snark. You never cease to let me down. Ironically I was just thinking about you the other day. I was discussing with my daughter about my ballet days. I mentioned something to her about how one of the gals in my classes had had knitted leg warmers where the top looked like a cat. They had been her mom's that she wore for warm up during her dancing days that had been knitted by her mother who had been a professional ballerina during WWII. My daughter asked me if I could knit a pair. First of all dear child I have no talent for knitting and second of all you don't dance. I do however know this really cool TH-camr who probably could knit something like that. Cue eye rolling and hormonal swing and stomping off in disappointment to her room. Anyways I do have an idea for you. I loved that you made a total 80's vibe vest and the semi Edwardian blouse together. So my idea is to make some fun stuff that makes you happy enough that you feel like dancing around with David Bowie and a bunch of puppets. Please include your snark, it gives me something to work off of when dealing with my teenagers. So if you want to upload twice a month work on one project that gives you those happy vibes and maybe even something that makes you fit in with the other girls even if it is just for a little bit. Even if its in a mutiny part series. And then for your second video do a yarn craft. And if you are feeling exceptionally bold do a yarn tutorial one in a while. Those of us who enjoy the sewing channels already know how to sew even if it is just the basics. I enjoy seeing you try to fit your body to patterns that are for a certain body type. Even if you are met with frustration and disappointment. Because its nice to know those of us who don't have that body type aren't alone in our struggles. I decided to hop on board with the robe train and trying to find a batten to make myself a robe/housecoat/dressing gown or what ever it is you want to call it. I went so.ething I can wrap myself in when i'm feeling too lazy to get dressed or need to run the trash up to the street at the last minute. Or in the unfortunate case of my daughter, the dog takes off after another dog or wants to go greet a snow birds walking by and should have to go chasing after him. I don't own a onesie that looks like a cross between a decapitated penguin and a shark (its supposed to be an orca) to wear while chasing him do an the street in. I don't need the neighbors to see me chase stupid in my night gown either😳 Anyways good luck with what ever you do with your channel. I love all things crafty and your snark.💕

Oooh, I'd love to see useful tatting! I'm not big on lots of frills and floof in my personal wardrobe, but I keep circling around the edges of tatting, peering over the wall as it were.
My main craft was knitting, long before I started sewing (and longer still before I started sewing clothing). I've dabbled in crochet, cross stitch, and a few others I've forgotten - it's StitchyPants, not KnittyPants, for a reason 😉 I'm realising that the channels I enjoy most are those people who are multi-craftual, whether it's Rachel Maksy's foam clay and fabric, or RetroClaude's knitting and sewing. It's more relatable to my own experience, and I'd rather see someone doing something that genuinely sparks their curiosity and creativity than artificially limit themselves to a single craft. After all, nothing is more engaging than honest enthusiasm.
(For the record, 45 year old woman in England, and I'm about to go watch that Shetland video you mentioned 😁)
It's a very short, very slippery slope from "functional lace tatting" to "OMG this doily is FANTASTIC!"
Trust me on this. You think you're just going to make a simple collar edging and next you know, it's doilies and antimacassars. Not because that's your aesthetic...no, no...it's the CHALLENGE.
Just...don't fight it. Get a couple of Handy Hands Aerlit shuttles and a cheap 9-pack of plastic shuttles from a Clover knockoff from Amazon, and Handy Hands 5-pack of #10 thread and enjoy your descent into thready purgatory. Costs less than $100 CDN, and it will keep you entertained for HOURS.
That's how I justify it, anyhow 😆

I lucked into 12 scanes of alpaca yarn for a dollar each at a garage sale, years back. I made a nice long knitted scarf. It ended up being too warm! How!?! It for some reason just didn't breathe the same and caused me to sweat more. It's sitting in a drawer - waiting for me to unravel it and blend it with some cotton. It's not high on my list, but still nagging me around the winter months.

Fabric here is just wild, price-wise. Find all those hole-in-the-wall shops that, like the Tardis, are bigger on the inside. When I have a few dollars to spare, there's a store carrying Real Wool Fabric that I'd like to hit up for a winter skirt for next year...

I think I first found you because of your sewing videos, but what keeps me here is your sense of humour and relatability. I'm in a similar boat as you when it comes to frustration sizing up patterns, and the fact that you're also in Canada and make references I get is just icing on the cake.

From the plus sized middle aged multi-craft addicted misfit group, I enjoy your channel because it is much like you... a representative of the chaotic enjoyment of the creative journey. Also, there is a way too small group of people you can spend time watching who would understand the glory of the old goth days, who Cid is, the high of trying new crafts, who Mayor Lewis is dallying with, the frustration of the plus sized clothing world, the desire to be frilly and comfortable (unique), all while being in hock to a seedy raccoon. It might be that the answer isn't what we want but who your target audience is. I don't behoove anyone the decision to alter their content to reach the wider audience. Financially, there is absolute sense in it. You will always have a set of people who drift in and out testing the waters to see where your content fits. You will also always have those of us who are here for your content, not what you do but that you are doing it.

If you haven't heard of her, Tara Deighton has a TH-cam channel you would probably like. She has Patreon classes that taught me how to create my own blocks, and I have watched Bianca of "Closet Historian" for years. (And tried the method and book she recommended.) I learned a lot from Bianca, but Tara has suggestions that fit a 'non-pattern company standard' body better.

@@MaireColclough For Block making, Besides The Closet Historian, there's also Seamstressed - she goes into the maths and geometry of it (quite quickly, but she's got graphcs as well) and she's got a website where you can purchase downloads (I have no idea of the size range of them). As to the sock machine, Engineering Knits has a video on her purchase (and use) of a Dean and Bean CSmachine ("How were the Victorians so fast at Knitting Socks") and I'll be honest, for a 3D printed machine, it looks really well-made.
Hey Woman, good to see your smiling face in this new year. Yes, to all the projects - sewing, knitting, tatting and whatever else catches your eyes and fingers.. As far as the Algorithmic Overlord is concerned - the first 5,000 seems to be the steepest part of the hill to climb. After that, the weaponized math seems to understand you and your content - at least on a base level. I think 10,000 is entirely possible to reach by the end of the year.
Right now I'm living in the time-crunch that is getting my 1950's weskit pattern hand and machine embroidered before I put it all together for the FR deadline. I'm hand quilting the different species of fish, a la the Tristan Quilt at the VA, as we type. It's going to be titled "Rideau River, Strathcona Park, August", in honour of my favorite in-city fishing spot. I was lucky enough to qualify for a scholarship membership, so it seems a little rude not to take part in the competition. Besides it being the first thing I've sewn in months (stooopid truck nuts and their repeated attempts to mess with my neighbourhood...). I'll take my excuse to create things where I find 'em...

I too have piles of sock yarn, and as sadly, the main recipient of them, apart from me died last year. So I only have me to knit socks for now. I love your eclectic mix of videos, and have started using some in some granny squares, but have acquired a really thick Tunisian crochet hook and some thick yarn to try something a little different. Love your vintage sewing machine, reminds me of one grandma had, so would love to see you getting it up and running as well as using it. Make the things that make you happy, and make the videos you want we like your style. Looking forward to future videos already.

I'm personally not much of a knitting person but I do still enjoy your knitting content a lot, precisely because you have such variety and focus on the exploration, rather than show and tell. The eclecticness and the sheer restfulness of the cronecore vibes are a notable part of why I'm hyped when I see you update!
I would be Very excited to see more spinning stuff, and on that note, I want to thank you, because you're the one who taught me that espinners existed and that I wasn't actually locked out of even dreaming to spin by disability. i just realized that i’ve been watching for a fair few years - since around the jacquard or maybe the tiny stitches crochet lace? it’s really nice having another multicrafter to vibe with, especially when i really work best when other people are doing similar things near me!

I love watching your channel. It has grown to become a cross section of the best parts of nostalgia, serial multi-crafting and trying new things. I think you already have found your voice and are just working on the presentation part now. My advice is to worry less about niching down and more about following the authentic and what brings you joy. It is most fun when watching you have fun. People who can't handle everything you are can be welcome to bugger off and find a channel that offers less. In the meantime, those of us who appreciate your knowledge, wisdom and vivacity will gladly stick around and watch. :)

I love knitting content, and I'm so happy to see someone adressing pluss size! I'm happy to watch sewing content (even if my sewing machine is in a bit of a hiatus, and I haven't made a garment without my knitting needles since high school).

Ugh I feel you on the random view variations and how that can make you question the direction of your channel! I started mine a few months back, and compared to when I first had a TH-cam channel (with a different focus) a few years back, it is so.much.harder to get anything approaching a consistent viewership... also true for Instagram. It seems so random which videos get consistent views and which ones don't.
For what it's worth, I always am amazed that your subscriber count is not way higher because you are a joy to listen to! I always love sitting down with your videos when I'm in a bad mood, because your sense of humour never fails to cheer me up. I think my favourite of your videos is the Fandom Knits video, so many great patterns!

I love Knit Picks Hawthorne. It has a high twist and can feel - not rough, but textured - but it softens nicely with blocking. That twist also means that it takes ripping-out well. Figured that out because of the damned hat I'm trying to design. It's in time-out.

I'm not plus-sized and my input might be completely useless, but the pattern company Cashmerette specializes in plus-sizes and has a lot of good reviews. They're online and recently-ish have migrated to being sold at Joann, which is pretty cool!

My energy levels always sink at this time of year. Laid here listening to a howling gale. Thankfully no rain or snow (yet). Hopefully will have enough energy to sew by the weekend. Need to make 2 outfits by middle of Feb. Luckily its viking period so just rectangles, squares and triangles. Not 'the tic so doing them on the machine.

I enjoy the variety of content. I am also a multi crafter, current in progress projects being a twin size quilt, and crochet cardigan for my eldest, a couple of knit hats for myself and husband, with plans for 2 more quilts for my other children, learning to knit socks this year. Also really want to start diving into making my own clothes this year.
Its nice seeing content from someone who also cant pick just one interest.
Honestly, I don't know what my Mum was thinking when she exposed me to quilting, knitting and cross-stitch before the age of 10. 😉
After quilting, I think making your own clothes will be fairly easy. Start small if you can. Make things that interest you.
Socks are a walk in the park if you can knit and purl. Trust me on this 😃
I will watch whatever you choose to post. I love listening to you and your brand of snark. I too have tried lots of crafts and you inspire me. Making clothes to fit you is a great idea. Learning how to do a F.B.A first will be your best start to a happy outcome for clothes you will wear and enjoy. Then, a basic bodice block. You can do it, and, I'm sure you will enjoy sewing more.

Hi, my name is Lorna, and I have crafting ADHD. Personally, I'd enjoy all of what you mentioned. But I'm REALLY looking forward to watching you sew on the antique machine. Maybe demystify it for me a little. During the plague, I somehow got, ahem, several? (14) antique machines. Different brands, different eras. Why? They're so pretty! Even the cabinets are pretty. Now I just need to fix/ use them. P.S. I don't knit, and am stubbornly refusing to learn 😂. I do crochet, sew, embroider, some leather work, woodwork, punch embroider. And I'm learning: spinning, card weaving, pattern drafting, backstrap weaving, warp weighted weaving looks cool, maybe the Viking knitting would be fun...sigh.

@@MaireColclough I´ve seen some videos of tatting, but i´m not sure if it is a craft for me, we will see. As for cross-stitching, i have a trauma from cross-stitching, which i got from school. I have quite strong emotions about it...haha. Fashion school sound more than it is, sketching/ sewing/ drafting is very technical after all, so it is lika all other schools just learning stuff.
I´m at the moment knitting an easy vintage jumper i found on ravelry. I learned knitting with straight needles only, so for me this way is much easier than with circular needles. Although i already knit two jumpers with circulars, it is weird to say, but sometimes i miss purling...The only problem with vintage jumpers is, the mostly come in one or two sizes, And i´m still not sure about adjustments in knitting. There are so many, like changing the yarn weight, changing needles, calculating extra stitches...

I'm all for any video that inspires you. I get so bored with "copy - paste" channels. You can tell the people making them are also kinda bored a lot of the time. 🤷♀️ I'd rather watch people I enjoy listening to regardless of the subject so long as they're genuinely interested in the subject. Heck, I'd watch you grocery shop if you felt like taking us along for that lol
I love the variety, cause it keeps things interesting, and the combination will cater to a wider variety of viewers. Also that you're Canadian, keep an eye on the CRTC and the potential changes that they'll be trying to force TH-cam into hosting more Canadian Content to Canadians (in line with the current CRTC for cable TV and Radio). For point of reference, I'm a subscriber from Toronto.
I honestly don't remember what video of yours drew me in, but it was probably in the height of costube or early pandemic time as most of my youtube addictions. I am a multi crafter like you, and I don't really care what type of object/garment you work on as long as you keep talking about it! I also like the videos when you pick a subject other than current projets and speak about it for a longer bit of time... a bit like Mina Le, but in my age and with my interests. ;)

I came for the historical knitting. I stayed because it’s nice to have more Canadian content. (Hi from BC). On knitting and sewing stuff on the type of stuff I’m interested in, a.k.a: plus size, historical, goth, and alternative unique clothing. I also feel like if I knew you in real life, we would probably get along, so sitting down with whatever videos feels like sitting down with a friend.
My hope is for more knitting content in the future, but I’m definitely interested in more historical sewing content as well.

I recently thrifted a 1930s singer that folds out of a small table like yours. I got it for just 15$. It has a motor, the electrical cord is rotted but that’s a quick home fix, otherwise it works fine with hand turning the wheel. It happens to be the perfect sized table when closed to allowed me to re-oganize my whole sewing room to display all the little things I wanted so it being a sewing machine is just a sweet bonus ^^ I guess I’m a sewing machine collector now as I own 2 vintage, 1 new, and 1 antique machine >.>’
Side note I found you for the sewing, and I am biased for sewing videos but I do watch your other craft videos because you are fun to watch/listen to have a sort of sew along buddy I like to have videos of people chatting and crafting while I craft. You do you, don’t get funneled into a niche that you may not enjoy as much. Just have fun and do what you want and if it’s a bit of this and that, that’s fine!
Careful with the vintage and antique machines...they multiply! The little side-table my faux vintage radio sits on is ALSO a vintage White Rotary - but electric. She's not getting switched on again until I have someone take a look at her electricals because...well, I'd rather not be a crispy critter 😆

@@MaireColclough When I thought about establishing an art channel I worked my fingers to the bone making avatars for simple animations, making backgrounds and branding - soooo much art. (and then I stopped, because honestly, I'm not really built for this job. XDD Props to those who can do it, seriously!!)
I have two walking-skirt-style skirts now, thanks to my mother! The flat front and pleats on the derriere are super flattering. The fabrics we've used so far have been pretty thick, so we haven't tried stiffening yet...hm. Maybe that would be a video idea? Showing how stiffener or interfacing affects different weights and weaves?

Oo also try the butterick patterns by Connie Crawford!! They're the best imho. I'm a torrid size 3-6 and not even the biggest size on her size chart, which is different than the butterick usuall

You can fit tatting in your craft room. Trust me...two tatting shuttles fit in your jeans pocket and the thread is small. It takes up such little room... (yes, I'm evil. A kinder, gentler evil) 😉

Oh yes...resin safety is very important. I've watched videos from a variety of sources and I don't plan on doing anything without proper ventilation and protection. I definitely want to be prepared before I go investing in ye olde Total Boat! 😉

Your 2023 calendar sounds chalk full ! 👍🤗 I don't know if your ears were burning ( or whatever the saying is lol) but when I watched Karolina ( the Polish utuber) do you know who I mean? She did a Goth look and I was really curious to know if you had any information on what it was like here in Canada as she mostly had pictures and research from England. I thought her look was good as she seemed to nail that 80s look.
My experience with 80s goth in high school was mostly morose teenagers wearing black and listening to the Smiths, the Cure, and Depeche Mode.
My 90s goth experience was dyeing my super-straight ash blonde hair black, wearing all the black clothing my mother disapproved of, heavy black eyeliner, and wishing I could afford (and your fit into!) all the pretty Victorian-goth satin & velvet clothes sold by the Queen Street boutiques...particularly Pam Chorley's Fashion Crimes.
Came out to Calgary. Mum had my hair professionally lightened (never again). I started henna-ing my hair and eased up on the makeup. Wore whatever pleased me, particularly to the club. Mostly went corporate-goth during the workday.
Slowly started incorporating more of the colour advice Mum tried to impress on me in my teens. Now I keep a swatch wallet in my purse so when I go clothing or fabric shopping, I can make sure the colour will look good on me.
I think the last time I used my crimper was back in the mid-80s for a high ponytail. I think it's around here somewhere. Possibly lurking at the back of a bathroom vanity 😉

I'm looking at that cycling sweater too. The one I see (can't remember where, LACMA?) is machine knitted. As the owner and user of some knitting machines I think it will be doable.
I am using Cashmerette patterns as my blocks now that I'm so (insert kind word for f*t here). I'm an apple shape and need a size 20 bust, 26 waist and 20 hip. I got involved with Stephanie Canada's walkaway dress challenge last year and modified the pattern and made two! It can be done. I've also done the Gunny Sax thing as I remember then from when I was a very broke older teenager. I've made two or three now and I wear them. Like you, not a great dress wearer.
Good luck with the sock machine! They appear to crank them out quite quickly. I make my socks on my knitting machines, both flat and double bed, with texture and colour. I like them knitted quite tight but I think it's a bit slower, about an hour a pair.
I'm also a brand new tatter. It's quite addictive.

I'm hoping that drafting my own bodice blocks will let me modify or grade up most of what I'm looking for. One of my fantastic patrons sent me a book by the owner/designer of Cashmerette, so I'm hopeful I can learn a few tricks for properly sizing the patterns I have. They make a tiered wrap dress that I'm pretty sure can be Gunne-Saxed 😃

The Honeybourne dress from the Cashmerette book is what I'm using for the Gunne Sax dresses, it's great. I've joined the Cashmerette club, lots of videos on resizing. I just finished the Meriam Trousers and they are very comfortable.

From what I'm led to understand, "Sewist" is a bit more modern, bit more inclusive (particularly of other genders), and less service-focused. I like Seamstress and have nothing against it, but the picture in my head when using that word is that of a woman paid to mend and make garments...and that's not really me (and many of the other folks I know) 😃
I think my family used Sew-er (as opposed to sewer and waste management), but Sewist works fine for me 😉

I don't knit and I found Claude and Engineering Knits because of their sewing, I watch their knitting anyway. Heck, Rachel Maksy does a hodpodge of stuff and it still works. Do you and folks will follow.
Careful...Knitting is kinda like the flu. It's really easy to catch, particularly when you realize all the cool stuff you can make with it 😉
