Neumann may be the most under-regarded depth psychoanalyst of all time. He embraces the imagination, displays brilliant syncretism yet remains strongly a scholar not a dreamer. His idea of the ultimate source of being as creativity in itself should be remarkable (shared as it is with Whitehead and now with Stuart Kauffman).
A good teacher teaches how to think, not what to think. An integrated person is not challenged by different opinions, he welcomes the opportunity to understand different aspects. The environment constantly changes, so must our responses. That is why Freud and Jung had a fall out. Freud stucked in his Victorian era caused wounding and Jung was a different generation with different background and challenges. Freud rejected to acknowledge Jung's valid approach and was unwilling to open his mind to the experiences and insights that Jung encountered. Instead of widening the field of knowledge, it became a threat to his views. Jung was not threatened, his ego wasn't wounded by Neumann. He saw a fellow deep thinker who he embraced because curiosity and science was higher than mere ego.
I wonder how Neumann viewed the rights of Palestinians? Was he able to expand the same to them? Was his wounded mind able to handle the opposites of realities, rights and survival?
I would really have liked to hear this, but i find the muzak so annoying that I can't I've bought some Peltor 'ear defenders' (mufflers) and experimented with listening to the talk at maximum volume, hoping the muzak will muffle out the muzak. It helps, but not enough. We seem to live in a degenerate, infantile age when no one can listen to anyone talking unless there is also muzak of some kind, as if to do so would be 'too boring'. But surely, if people want muzak when they listen to a talk they can open some muzak of their choice on another youtube channel.

This is the second Jung-Neumann conference, the first was in Israel last year. This will be every bit as interesting. Great line-up of speakers.

Why is there a record playing all the time along with this? It's very distracting, and totally pointless.
