Worked PT at Radio Shack in the late 70's. Bought a STA 95. Loved it. Back in the day of component systems. lol

This is a great receiver for its era. I have one like it and remember when Radio Shack sales staff compared these to the Pioneer SX-780. I have mine setup in my GarageMahal with 4 Yamaha NSA-635a wall mounted speakers in each corner. My guests are amazed by the unit when I crank it up. I stream Amazon Music from a Toshiba Fire TV with a digital to analog adapter.

That tuning knob shudder would occur when we removed them from the box brand new! We oiled the bearing and all was good. Made by Foster Electric in Japan (early) and Singapore.

I found one of these on eBay 8 years ago. It was advertised as excellent and clean. I pulled the trigger and bought it. It was filthy inside and had scratchy dials. I spent all morning with cotton swabs and a can of contact cleaner. Now it performs like it should.

Was given the same receiver and cassette deck (SCT-30) over 20 years ago. Unfortunately got rid of the cassette deck. The only issue I have with the receiver is I have been unsuccessful cleaning the tape monitor and dubbing switches.

I find mine to be really bass heavy. Does anyone else have the same experience?
