      Good planning, Steve. I'm pretty much doing the same thing. Over the years that I have been stacking,
      I have gone from worrying about prices to worrying if I have enough ounces. I think that's a better way
      to look at one's holdings because at some point in the nebulous future, I'm pretty sure that the number
      of ounces of gold and silver that one holds will be more important than what they paid to acquire them.

    New stacker here, curious why no one talks about platinum. Judging from the prices over time it seems to have been left behind. Too volatile maybe for the price. I'd be interested in understanding platinum more, in comparison to gold and silver. Love the channel!

    I reckon we can only speculate how silver and gold will perform going forward, but either way, we can be pretty confident (with what we know now) that it will out perform the dollar.
    Therefore, savings in metals seems to make better sense, and it also provides a place to park your earnings outside of the undesirable system, and in your hands.

      Well said, Tommy. This is exactly why I stack silver and gold. It's not about the hoopla and hysteria,
      it's about the math associated with the US$. Our currency has been terrible abused by those who
      have the power to do so but not the wit to understand the implications of their actions. Because of
      this, having a significant chunk of one's wealth in PMs held outside the current system seems prudent.
      It's also less convenient than other forms of savings, which means that it tends to stay saved and not
      spent. I like that feature a lot. As an inflation hedge, PMs are pretty good at that too, especially for
      those of us who use DCA to systemize our buys and perhaps adjust the amount we are buying
      upwards when prices dip and reduce them a bit when they are down. Over time, this results in a
      very nice stack at a reasonable price and it removes the concern over prices that some have I
      call this "price paralysis", because those who have it have a hard time buying any PMs because
      they are always watching for "the best price" or buying at "just the right time". For me, the right
      price is less relevant to my buying than it seems to be for others and the right time is whenever
      I have some extra cash that I won't be needing for a while. 🙂

    Silver and gold shouldn't be purchased in order to attempt to make a quick profit. It's a long term investment in order to perseve your wealth. You can also use it as a collateral knowing that some companies allow you to borrow against your precious metals. Or if you're really in a pinch easily liquidate it because PMs are easy to sell. As you can see Silver and gold are a versatile investment if you know how use your precious metals the right way.

      While some sort of windfall from gold or silver would be nice, it's not necessary to justify owning
      some PMs. PMs do other things for us, such as be an inflation hedge, a long term savings plan,
      and wealth insurance in a crazy world with fragile financial and economic systems seemingly
      the rule rather than the exception. But who knows the future? No one. Best we can do is to
      spot long tern trends early on and then position ourselves accordingly.

(Across which year the best price hold).. 2001 to 2021.. you can sell any years coming you prefer. But you could not buy same 1g of year 2001.

    I bought gold from 1984 to 2001 and from late 2013 to 2021, with 1.125oz in 2022. My inflation adjusted increase is 45.59%. That is all my costs were adjusted to 2022 dollars using CPI data and assuming that all the coins would be sold for melt. The best year's purchase was in 2001, which has gone up a real 315.09% followed by 2000, 1998 and 1997. The worst years purchase is 2022, which has gone down 14.44%. I had bought gold from 1969 through the 70's, but sold it all in 1980 for a substantial but unrecorded profit. I have never been able to beat inflation with bank deposits as taxes always take away any inflation adjusted profits. With silver, similar calculations leave me down 9.79%. Again assuming selling for melt. The current catalogue value is up 156% over my adjusted costs. However it is rare to impossible to get catalogue when disposing of a collection.

      The thing about the US$ gaining ground is that it is compared to a basket of other fiat currencies.
      This brings up the analogies of "cleanest shirt in the hamper" and "best horse in the glue factory".
      Being in 1st place among a group of lousy currencies is not much of a win, IMO. But if we ever
      get to the point where currencies once again become revalued against gold, we will see where the
      bear **** in the buckwheat, as they say. At that point, ALL fiat currencies will be exposed by the
      truth that they really aren't worth much but gold, and its little sister silver, are things of real value
      and worth. I fully expect a similar washout in the cryptos with fewer than 4 or 5 survivors. BTC
      and ETH seem like strong contenders but as to the rest, who knows? The coming of Fed digital
      money seems likely to put some severe constraints on the cryptos but we will have to see how
      that shakes out in the next year or two. All we know at this point is that neither the US Gov nor
      the Fed allow competing paper currencies or share power with others very well and the ability
      to create money of any kind confers enormous power on those who can do it. That kind of
      power is very addicting and difficult to give up for those who have it.

    The unfortunate thing about buying gold and silver for me is this. When it starts to go down I tend not to buy because I’m thinking “how far down is it going to go?” I’ll wait… Then when it starts going up I think “oh, it’s going up, I better buy some”. Then after I do buy some, of course it goes back down again.
    I’m not good at this. But… at least I’m not planning on selling. I’ll hold it long term, and I think I’ll probably be ok in the end.

    Thanks for another "smart" video. I have been stacking for years with the thought of retirement in mind. For years I have had friends and family tell me that I was crazy to buy gold and silver, well they are not saying that now. Anytime someone comes up to me to talk PM's I take them to a historical chart going back to 70"s to show them the ups and downs of the metals., explaining to them that they have to hold it for some time. Gold is not a panacea for all things but having some does feel good, and yes going forward the prices especially now will be going up so now I look like a genius. Maybe you should fill that empty shot glass with some Johnny Black or Blue.....

      @edb3877 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are some very sound reasons behind buying PMs, especially in moderation. As a long-time
      investor, I just cringe when some investing newbie crows about being "all in" with ANY asset or
      asset class. That's very often a serious error for an investor. This is usually compounded by
      not having any kind of plan for selling that asset. One only ever profits from an investment or
      asset holding via selling some or all of it. PMs, like most other assets, do go through price
      cycles, so selling when it is near or at a high and then buying it back when it is at or near a low
      is simply good business and it can seriously increase one's holdings. Never ever fall in love
      with an asset. They are just things and things can be bought and sold as its owner wishes.

    • @randyrandall2148
      @randyrandall2148 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@edb3877 Good advice. I buy PMs for various reasons. I have my "responsible" PMs, that I will trade at some point for other assets when the timing is right. I also have PMs that most LCS dealers laugh at, but I like them. So I buy them anyway and have no real exit strategy except to give them to the kids one day. :)

    • @edb3877
      @edb3877 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@randyrandall2148 No problem, Randy. Leaving them to your kids qualifies as an exit strategy to
      me. I'll probably be doing some of that too one of these days. Buying what you like is fun that's
      a decision that only you can make. I got some SilverTowne 5-oz. bars for that very reason. They
      simply appealed to me at the time. Should be good for trading material at some point.

(Obviously outlandish prices should be avoided) I am starting to stack, just got an oz of gold and a few oz of silver, and I plan on purchasing a certain amount each month. • @edb3877
      @edb3877 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2is1gold Yes, same here, only for me it is quarterly because of the structure of my finances.
      I also set limits on how high I am willing to buy. When silver got to $35 an oz. in 2011, for
      example, I quit buying silver and simply built my cash pile in the hope that prices would fall
      and some bargains could be had later on... which is exactly what happened. I did not sell
      any silver back then because I wanted to hold some silver and my stack was pretty small
      back then. When silver dropped to $20 an oz., I started buying and kept buying down to
      $15 an oz. That made for a nice stack that was heavily biased towards the lower end
      of the price range between 2011 and 2019 when my silver stack was complete and I
      switched to buying gold in the same way.
