    No pedals, no effects, just pure tele joy. Playing flamenco has helped her blues playing so much, may favorite guitarist now in 2022.

    22 years of the blues. I was at the original Antone's in 1975. Saw Little Stevie Vaughan leading the Cobras in 3 sets warming up and then backing up John Lee Hooker. I had not idea who he was but knew I had never seen nothing like that. Found out a few years later he was Jimmy Vaughan's little brother when I was telling these guys "Jimmy Vaughan ain't that great, I saw this guy once......" guy said "That guy you saw was Jimmy Vaughan's little brother and he's the best you will ever see." Saw him 8 times up until 3 months before the helicopter crash, ain't seen any better since.

      Wow what esperience! Of those to remember for all the life , as those that I have taken in 1974 with the Frank Zappa ' s and Traffic's concerts in the Basket Pavillon of my little town and the great SRV's concert in a little sea town in Italy a year before he meeting his sad destiny..

      ...because she really doesn't get it when she sings. Something just isn't right with her voice. She kicks it with that Tele though.

      @@78tag I love her little girl voice and her bad girl playing. I've been a fan since around 1994.

    I saw Sue and her band at The Jewish Mother in Virginia Beach …. I think it was in the late 1980s… not sure but I do know I was forever hooked 😀

      I saw her at Blind Willie's in Atlanta in the early 90s. I was walking by and the doorman that I knew, let me in. Never heard of her. She pretty much played her Without A Warning album. Her playing and music was amazing, raw and different than the run-of-the-mill bluesers. I've got all her recordings. Hooked ever since, too.

    I just recently discovered her and I love everything she does. I just got my first telecaster and her tone motivates me to keep looking for the best blues tone for myself.

    Why do so many music videos start off with a low volume that can’t be turned up much?

    I really like the song where she sings "I used to have a lover, but I had to leave that town." Does anyone know the name of that song? If any sheet music or chart is available? Any information on that song will help! thanks.

    • @countycricklewood

      Sam is excellent to! Just different styles. Joanne Shaw Taylor from the UK is also an excellent guitarist and vocal, but more heavy

      @jolyonstone6696 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Susan Tedeschi would be a better comparison. She and Sue can both sing! I can't get into Sam Fish's solo stuff although I like what she did with TUF.
      I have only just discovered Sue Foley's work although I have known her name for a couple of years. She is rather exceptional!

      I hate when people compare all the female guitarists just because they are women. Ana Popovic, Sam Fish, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Laura Cox, Sue. They all have their own thing and that’s what makes it interesting

    That Telecaster of hers is the ugliest guitar I've ever seen in my life...but she makes it sound like the Judgement of God.Rock on, girl, rock on.
