  • I finally get to meld my crafting skills with my graphic design skills! I show you how to make resin earrings from resin molds. Here are some tips and tricks and some things I've learned long the way. I also show you how I make and design custom earring cards with Adobe Illustrator and the Cricut Maker.

      The resin I use takes 24 hours till you can take them out of the mold, but when making thinner pieces I will let them sit in the mold for longer because they will still be somewhat bendy after only 24 hours. I'm not sure how much resin I used, I never measure, but i should! 😅

      This is a bad question for me because I am not great at pre-measuring for my molds. A lot of people will measure the mold out by filling it with water and measuring the water that you pour out. Just make sure the mold is dry before using!

    I’m using puduo resin do I need to use a uv light or is that only with uv resin

    • @Squidlicks
      @Squidlicks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      UV resin that needs light will come in a black bottle so not sunlight can get in. If your bottle is clear and in 2 parts it's probably just regular resin.

    Hi! I've watched so many of your videos and I've decided to make earrings myself! Unfortunately when I took the earrings and keychains outside they started to bend and one of my earrings even broke. the heat gets up to 110 degrees where I live :(. Do you think its the heat or am I just not doing the correct ratios? Any help would be appreciated thanks!! :)

    • @Squidlicks
      @Squidlicks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes resins can be super sensitive to heat. Did you let them cure a long time? Sometimes it can take up to 7 days to cure. It could also be the ratio. I found that when mixing small amounts of resin the ratio can be easier to mess up so you have to be extra careful. Hope that helps!

    What size drill bit did you use for the hoops? I did this but the earring was too thin and the post fell out):

    • @Squidlicks
      @Squidlicks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would depend on the thickness of post you are using. I eyeball mine against the post. You can always drill from smaller size to bigger and test it out since you can't go backwards.

    When I drill a hole for the pin and then glue it with the E600 it doesn't stay, the pin wiggles loose. The drill bit is about the same size as the pin. Should I drill the hole longer or try a different glue?

    • @Squidlicks
      @Squidlicks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would try a different glue, maybe something similar to like a super glue? Or you could use a bit of resin next time you mix up a batch!

    I wanna start making my own but I don't know if I should start with a kit or buy everything by itself? What would you recommend?

    • @Squidlicks
      @Squidlicks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm... I really depends if you think you are going to be committed to it and buy a larger quantity of resin or if you just want to dip your feet in. I end up using a lot of the stuff in kits anyway so it's not a total waste to get one! It's a convenient starting point for sure but if you know you're going to get serious about it I would go for the larger amounts.

    Please help!!! I have been doing epoxy resin earrings for a few months and they come out beautiful and cured. But once they are exposed to sun they get soft/bendy. Once off of the sun they go back to normal. I have tried different brands and it keeps happening. I’m sure I’m measuring right and stirring it slow and for at least 5 min. Do you have any tips? Or any resin brand that you recommend?
    It also happens when I make rolling trays, keychains, ashtrays or something else that is usually ticker than an earring 🙃
    Thank you so much!

    • @Squidlicks
