I saw something very, VERY similar to this on amazon that I really wanted because I have a boho theme in my room, but it was 40 dollars 😱 So, I realized I have made a couple macromey things before, they were small but super easy and fun! So, I grabbed my string and decided to look up how to make one, and here I am!!!

As a cancerian I have a love for anything to do with the moon but this is by far 1 of the most beautiful dreamcatchers I've seen. Gorgeous. Don't be intimidated if you are a beginner, get a cork board and some T pins and practice the basic knots first, get some heavy floral wire and make a small moon to practice that part too. The project will go faster when you get the basics. This is a simple yet elegant project and anyone that gave this a thumbs down is not patient enough to learn and expecting a full blown tutorial on how to macrame (or just plain mean with no imagination).

How do you thread on a 3mm pearl with an ordinary needle. Im used to using a beading needle for a 3mm and the six strand cotton would be too thick for a beading needle. What type of needle are you threading with please.
Hi Mary, it's ordinary sewing needle in this video, it might take some effort to insert the cotton thread but I do manage to insert it. You can try to get a sewing needle sets, which comes with different sizes. There must be one which can fit both beads and thread.

getting DIY stuff where I am is a task! Could you please share some links for reference pictures or just include some zoomed in pictures of items next to the item list (very good idea to consolidate them at the beginning of the video!) so I can click pictures and show them to vendors or something? For e.g. metal clips doesn't cut it when we talk about those little metal pieces holding the feather and looping into the metal rings (5 cm dia?)

You have reignited my interest in macramé! I had a 1.5hr very basic lesson after church when I was 12, just half square and square knots. I made a ton of plant hangers and then lost interest. Oddly, I taught myself how to do basic dream catchers about 20-25yrs ago. (Never occurred to me to combine them). Now 46yrs later I think I will try again, incorporating my very basic webbing and knot tying skills with this outstanding tutorial. I’m cautiously optimistic. You have such a smooth and beautiful way about you while you’re working. Add to that the speed that you go along with the pauses to make sure we know which cord is going where all combine to make this a novice’s dream video. This moon is absolutely stunning and I was mesmerized throughout. I’m excited to watch all of your videos!

I just brought this kit off Amazon the instructions are rubbish I had no clue how to do the weave, so I tried to copy yours ran out of thread, so have to start again now, what thread do I need I don’t have any embroidery floss or anything similar just Chinese knotting cord would that work ?

Hi, you can use any size of weaving thread , in this video we are using 5 ply cotton thread. Make sure the thread is strong.

Hi Ruchi, embroidery thread is different. This is 6 ply cotton thread that can be used for crochet clothing too. Any thread can be used for weaving web as long as it is strong enough, make sure the material will not break easily.

I think, in this case, it might be better to just add one bead at a time. It doesn’t save any time, if you have to try and wiggle all those big pearls through those tight spaces.
Hi Jenn, yes you may add one bead at a time. We do it that way to show the sequence of beads size in once ,otherwise we will need to add the subtitle for every steps when we change the beads size.

You can slow the playback speed in settings. I do it a lot in crochet videos.

Hi Teresa, the information of length is all listed in the video. This tutorial we use 3mm cord. You can use thicker macrame , the result night turn out bigger if you use the same measurement and quantity.

I find no matter what size needle I use it will not fit through the holes of the different size Pearl's..
along with the thread too. 🥺Smaller needles won't even fit the thread going through.😠 I'm trying to put glue on the end of the thread in order to get it through the hole in the large pearl...smaller pearls doubt it's going to work. Any suggestions welcome! HELP! 😣🆘️😣
Hi Vanessa, I'm using 1mm thick needle with 3.5mm hole in length. You can buy needle sets, this size is common and easily get in any needle sets which comes in all kind of sizes 😊

We do not have exact link as our material are bulk order through supplier. You can search :
Pearl size : 8mm , 4mm and 3mm
Thread : 6 ply cotton thread
Or you can use any strong thread ,thinner but not easily break like jeans thread. This surely can pass through the needle.
@@TheCraftCat the problem is not so much getting the thread or cord to go through the needle as it is to get both the thread and the needle to go through the hole of the bead "together" .. the hole in the various size beads is just not large enough. I've searched for beads with larger holes but next to impossible to find...maybe I'm doing something wrong???
Pearl's hole mostly in standard size. Try this method to insert beads .Using thin thread to insert and push it.

are you just using multiple sewing thread and how do you get it through the needle easily... I use paracord but then the beads have to be like 8mm wholes which is pretty large compared to the beads your using. Can we connect on instagram as well

You can use any type of weaving thread as long as it is not too thin which break easily. We use 6 ply cotton thread

Hi Rebecca, 16cm and 10cm hoop, sizes refer to diameter . 16cm diameter = 50.3cm in circumference, thats why when you break it and bend into moon shape, it will be much bigger , the final result of the moon will be 9 inches in width

This was such a beautiful project but also my most frustrating one as well. I bought the larger diy package which doesn't match up to your tutorial. Its also very confusing to guess my way through with different measurements. Maybe think about updating your videos. I think mine would have turned out better :( But it is a beautiful idea. thanks

We have included an instruction paper with the measurement in the diy kits of larger kits. Which the steps are same, only measurement is different. Bonjour, nous utilisons du fil de coton 5 épaisseurs pour tisser la toile, et pour la partie en macramé, il s'agit d'un cordon en coton de 3 mm. 😊

Ciao, il filo per tessitura è in realtà un filo di cotone a 6 capi. che è originariamente 6 fili insieme. Non lo combiniamo.

This is so lovely! I recently purchased one from amazon for my daughter, with lights (no feathers) but... I used to macrame back in the '80s and I saw this tutorial I was livid! Thank you 😊 We use 6 ply cotton thread but any thread can be used as long as it is strong enough and not break easily.
