    The man speaking in this video is my biological brother, Derrick King. My brother lost his grip on reality after the death of our mother and has been struggling every since her passing. He is very smart, kind and talented, but sometimes life can throw us situations we have difficulty getting around. Along the way, my brothers mind became engrossed in the homeless lifestyle and community and we could not encourage him to fight his way back. Unfortunately, he passed away in late August 2021 from the Corona Virus and my family will be putting him away on November 5. Reading all of your comments makes it clear to me that most people honestly do not understand the human beings behind the homeless stories you read or see on TH-cam. It is by Gods grace that our situation is not the same as my brothers as he came from a loving family that supported him. He lost hope as many do in today's society. Please keep our family in your prayers and choose to be grateful to God each day you wake up with the will and desire to go forward in this world. God bless you and Rest in peace my dear brother DK. We love you beyond measure.

    I'm sorry but some of these stories are questionable. He is totally capable of being out of the homeless situation. I have friends who have no legal papers to work and yet they work hard everyday ( like all of us) to have a decent place to sleep. So something doesn't add up here.

    • @ultraman5168
      @ultraman5168 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can go get $20 an hour or more, right now, by calling one guy and showing up at a Home Depot at 5 AM ready to tear down houses.
      Most continuously homeless people stay homeless because of a combination of mental illness, drug abuse, physical disability, and/or lack of life skills that legitimately keeps them from reintegrating into society.
      Then you have a lot of people like this guy; people who, if their stories about who they say they were are to be believed, inexplicably refuse to apply themselves they way they claim they did in their past lives.
      It's a very strange thing to see someone claim that they were a successful doctor, or lawyer, or teacher, or small business owner, or any of the other things these people claim to have been, but they can't be bothered to stand in front of a store holding a sign for some honest living; they'd rather beg you for scraps than do something menial.

    • @AJBlueJay
      @AJBlueJay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't know him.
      "I have friends who" = personal anecdote fallacy.
      "He is totally capable of being out of his homeless situation" = Social Darwinism.
      "work hard everyday (like all of us) to have a decent place to sleep" = Self-attribution fallacy & just-world fallacy.
      There are lots of rich privileged people who don't work. They inherited money and capital from their rich parents, or the are gold diggers.

Second thought, he remarked that he repairs bicycles, sells parts and even sells NEW and custom bikes so where does he get that money to be a homeless entrepreneur ....hmmm, sounds like he's fully aware of the fact that he "chooses" to live on the streets of Venice. Making the city look like another California s**t Hole... Too many of the new homeless are there by choice and because they've found a way to do nothing and not be held responsible... and of course there are those that are there because of circumstances and illness... jus sayin
