Jean Dawson is pretty much one of my favorite new artists, but its funny to hear people say this kinda stuff about his music. There are a tone of really clear musical influences from rock bands of the late 90's. This song in particular has mad Weezer vibes. Honestly he's not even the first to utilize this genre fusion. A lot of Jeans music sounds just like any song off of Kevin Abstracts American Boyfriend album that was released all the way back in 2016. All that being said I think Jean is pulling it off the best, but if you think this is super unique I would implore you to listen to more music.
Nothing against him, but the Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, pop punk influences are evident.
