Hiking WYOMING : Wapati, Clear Lake, Ribbon Lake & South Rim Trail | Yellowstone NP (Waterfall) | 4K

5-25-2024 : Wapati, Clear Lake, Ribbon Lake & South Rim Trail was simply amazing due to the diverse terrains at every corner (Yellowstone National Park). Trail begins in a muddy and open meadow. As you get closer to Clear Lake, you will be surrounded by trees. Clear Lake was a stunning green BUT there was a very strong and unpleasant sulfur smell coming from this particular area.
From Clear Lake to Lily Pad Lake, the terrain changed towards an open area of geysers and pools. Lily Pad Lake didn't have a great color however it was interesting to see gas bubbles coming up in various areas of this lake.
Once you reached the edge of the canyon overlooking the Yellowstone River, you'll eventually get to Artist Point. This particular spot was very crowded because it was the best spot to see Lower Yellowstone Falls. Follow the edge of the Artist Point parking lot until you see an opening for South Rim Trail. South Rim Trail still has some snow and gets a little muddy near the end. There were a lot of inclines and declines throughout this hike.
Carry bear spray; the chances of encountering a bear is lower at popular trails but you never know.
Total ~4.7 miles; ~2.75 hours to complete.
