Hello Cheryl, this is an easy tutorial for a cute little bag. The directions given were precise. And easy to follow, I can see this bag made up and so many different kinds of fabric.
Absolutely love this way of doing a box bag. My overlocker was not thrilled about the double layer of canvas, poplin and fusible batting with a seam to run over as well but we soldiered on. Turned out awesome. 😊💐
I did a couple and posted the pics on an Australian Sewing page. Everyone loved them. A teacher had her craft student did some and just posted the pics. Amazing! Sherril, you are international and multi generational now! 🇦🇺👨🏫👩🏫
Hi Sue. I am so glad that the easy zipper bag tutorial was helpful to sewers in Australia. Also, thanks for posting it on a sewing page. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi George. Here is a link to my serger projects tutorial: th-cam.com/video/bR1sJKY3YAw/w-d-xo.html Glad you liked the zipper bag tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
Love your tutorial, love my bag. Even though I made box bags before, this is by far the best way to make them. Thanks for taking your time to show how.
Hi Sherrill, I love the bag 🎒 & you did it again. It would be a great Easter Bag to tote prize filled eggs for a hunt or put egg dying kits inside along with chocolate eggs.🍫 it seems spacious yet sturdy! Great Job!
Hi Sherrill! This was a great video! I’ve always been terrified of zippers. I’ve done a few but always struggled. You made this seem very clear and simplified to do. Thank you for that! The bag seems extremely roomy and sturdy. I definitely am going to add this to my saved videos to work on in the near future.
Beautiful. Would you use a denim weight needle when sewing canvas? I always get really nervous when my machine makes a loud noise going over the thickest bits. My blood pressure sores lol. 👍👍
Hi Christine. I always do a test stitch on all my fabrics to see what needle and thread works the best. Try it out and see if it works. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi Kara. When ever I am stitching through more than 2 layers of fabric I lengthen the stitch to 3.0. Hope this Helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Thank you once again for making something even a beginner sewer could do! I am going to make these for several in my family. I think even the guys will like them if done in "guy" colors lol. I'm thinking it would make a nice overnight bag for my little grandkids made with their favorite characters or colors. God bless you and your family always.
What a great bag! I wonder if the seams could be sewn as French seams? Maybe it would be too much bulk at the zipper ends. Thanks for the wonderful tutorial.
Hi Susan. It depends on how thick/heavy the denim is. I use a 90/14 for most of the denim I sew on. I always do a test stitch on a small piece of the fabric with different needles to see which gives the best stitch. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Love the bag, could I do longer straps to put over cross body. Also what material is your cutting mat Also is it on Amazon or Ebay in pounds not dollars?
Hi Leanna. Yes you can make the straps any length. The Sullivan cutting mat comes in a variety of sizes and you can purchase it from amazon.com. They ship world wide and I am sure they convert dollars to pounds. Sullivan cutting mat is low density polyethylene. I use my rotary cutter on it everyday for several hours a day. Because I use it so much I purchase a new cutting mat every 1 1/2 to 2 years. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi Annette. If you want each fabric section to be cut with the print going in a specific directions, cut each piece separately. Use a fabric marker to mark a little arrow indicating which edge is up and which one is down. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi Edie. Yes you can stitch the lining together separately, and the outside fabric together separate. Here is a link to a cosmetic bag tutorial that is sewn this way: th-cam.com/video/S8uq9h1kC30/w-d-xo.html This bag is not boxed shaped, but it will give you an idea of how to do the lining separately. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

@@TheSewingRoomChannel . Thank you . I figured it out 😊 I’m on my 5th one . I enjoy all your videos. I’m learning so much.
Hi Sherrill, I really want to make this but I would like it to have hidden seams. Is there a way to adapt the pattern so that would be the case?
Hi Edie. Yes you can stitch the lining together separately, and the outside fabric together separate. Here is a link to a cosmetic bag tutorial that is sewn this way: th-cam.com/video/S8uq9h1kC30/w-d-xo.html
