***** yup the problem with this video is that it's portraying simple "hello" as harrassment. The reason why it's mostly black and latino men doing it here is because the "bait" they chose is the type black and latinos like - a chunky woman with a big arse wearing a tight pair of jeans. whites and asians in general prefer slimmer women - Thus ironically this unbearably politically correct video is in fact, inherently racist

Yeah it still is. No matter who it is or what they're saying it'll make you feel scared and vulnerable and disgusted. It's disgusting to know that if you're just walking home from school or from work minding your own business living your life, there are loads of people around you looking at you like you're a piece of meat or their target. Any kind of unwanted attention is weird, especially as a woman because you know that those guys could seriously harm you. My friend got punched in the head by a random guy at a bus stop who didn't even talk to her, for no reason, not robbery or anything she was only 17 at the time. @@Alex-kf3rm Reading your comment, I think you talk about something you have never experienced yourself, and therefore you should not judge what you don't know.
It can be more than annoying and uncomfortable. It can ruin your life. When the street harassement is all day long, like I endured in Paris over three years, 10 times in a 20 min walk to or from work, EACH DAY, it makes you crazy. Sometimes I'd not even get out of my flat from Friday evening to Monday morning for work, because I did not have the strength to get down in the street and hear those men say the same sentences again and again and again. EACH of those men seem to think of themselves as unique, clever, and attractive, but they are kind of all the same, same voice, same words, and same bs reactions (insulting you if you ignore them, insulting you if you just ask them to leave you in peace).
And don't forget that street harassement is not only talking in the street. It's also touching, even if it's not depicted in this video. When a man touches your bottom or your breast without warning, without asking, and against your will, this can be already a traumatic experience.
And it's even worse when you have already been sexually assaulted. Each man who starts sexual comments, even just whistling (because this is already sexual), brings back this memory to you. You never know how far that man can go. Most of them will never go further than just whistling. But some, they can get mad because you ignored them or because you answered please leave me alone, and they start following you and all.
We just want to walk in the street with the same freedom and safety men have.

    • @johnnyklash5883

@@chionodoxa6772Your ignorance shows. You think you walk in the streets less safe than men? Men are the victims of violence in much higher numbers than women. In almost every single metric of being in danger, men are at the top. The truth is you just complain more. Most people behave nice to you BECAUSE you are a woman.

I'm a man, and the question I always ask other men when it comes to stuff like this is, "What if some knucklehead catcalled your wife/sister/mother/insert other female relative?" You'd be ready to kick the living you-know-what out of them. I have two sisters, and I know for a fact if I saw it happen to one of them I would have no problem coldcocking the dude. So don't do it to other women. I also think that particular woman has the right approach with the cards. A lot of men think it's a compliment to women, and don't realize that to them it's just plain creepy. Paying a respectful compliment to a woman you think is attractive is one thing, being a douchebag is another. We as men need to be educated and just be respectful to women, it really ain't that hard.

    I gots a story
I remember playing football with my friends in the park. We’re all Muslim so we were extremely conservatively dressed. Long dresses (called abayas) and hijabs. So these worker men that were renovating an old pub across the street just pass us, they wolf whistled and said stuff like ‘damn girls’.
I felt disgusting and dirty, like a piece of my innocence was ripped from me.
I was only 12 at the time and my friends ages ranged from 11-16.

For the men out there: if you don’t want to hear a dude in a prison yard yelling it at you, don’t yell it at a woman on the street. That’s probably the closest thing men can experience that makes them feel how women feel when being catcalled. It’s not just a harmless joke/comment, you’re making women feel threatened.

First of all im not defending cat calling or harassment, but those are two completely separate things. Being yelled at by the sex you prefer vs sex you dont is very different. Also why on a prison yard? These women are not in prison yard, they can walk away. Cant do that in prison. Also men yelling compliments at you would not make a man feel threatend. Again, not defending harassment but terrible analogy.

Men can't imagine a simple "Hello" ever feeling like a threat because they don't experience that. If men were catcalled by other (larger) men in isolated areas they might start to understand how it feels. The woman is remembering all of the instances when these have escalated in the past, and trying to think ahead how she will respond if it does. Just because sometimes it's only a comment "Hello beautiful," the woman's instincts remember all the times when it was more. Those times also start with some innocuous statement. If she answers back "Hello" it's seen by some of these men as encouragement and interest ("Why did you say 'hello' back if you weren't interested?") Not answering back whips some of them into a fury of indignation, "You're not good enough to say hello to me??"

If I ignore him, is he going to start following me and talking louder, or grabbing me to get my attention? If I take the polite route and say thank you, is he going to take that as encouragement and start following me to talk to me more? If I smile in response or even meet his eyes, will he ask for my number and text me right then and there to make sure I didn't fake it? Then before I know it a predatory man with no boundaries has my phone number.

And no, no one should still say that as an excuse, however it’s extremely inappropriate for anyone to wear something like that. If my daughter were to wear something like I’m burning her whole closet and going shopping with her.

Deus Aku these women were not wearing short shorts though. Women and girls get catcalled no matter what they are wearing. I recently got catcalled wearing long black pants, a conservative top, flat closed plain black shoes and a black cardigan covering my shoulders and arms. I was wearing a simple ponytail and minimal makeup. I was walking to work. I started getting catcalled and was almost abducted when I was 12 while walking to school in a uniform for a christian school that went down passed my knees, was not form fitting and was double covered at the chest. I also had sneakers and a messy ponytail usually. I wouldnt say any of the outfits Ive gotten catcalled in were sexy. The only times I've been catcalled wearing more "revealing" clothes is when Im taking out the garbage in front of my apartment. I usually wear shorts and a tank top at home and don't see why I should change just to step out to throw out the trash. Yet men have said the nastiest things to me right in front of my home just for stepping out for a minute. A guy said "mmm! despues se quejan cuando las violan" which means "mmm! Then they complain when they are raped" But Im sure he meant it as a compliment and not to make me feel unsafe just stepping out of my own home. That fucker knows where I live and he thinks I should be raped for no reason other than Im a woman.

@Stunts & Art You clearly can't control your sexual desires if you feel the need to wear sexually explicit clothing and walk outside for everyone to see it and whine about it if people point it out.
And chances are those men wouldn't be letting their daughters go out in that clothing anywaysm

The most annoying thing about catcalling is the expectation men have for a response or an interaction. That what makes the "Hey Beautiful," not a compliment. I have gotten yelled at in the streets for not acknowledging them. I've been whistled and honked at. I've had multiple men approach me trying to grab me off the street in daylight with a female friend. I've had men masturbating out of their apartment windows at the age of 13. Or homeless men holding their junk and staring at you in the trains or in the streets following you for blocks. I shouldn't owe anyone anything. I should be able to walk to a destination without the constant harassment and entitlement men have, that when I'm not with a man, I'm up for grabs. It's disgusting and annoying.

When i was walking home from school i walked pass a lot of 20 year old guys and some other teens, they started to wistle and to tell me that they liked my skirt and some of them got kinda close to me to tell me that i had nice legs, i didn't know what was actually happening so i just said thank you to them.
When i got home i told my dad and he told me to not listen to them and to not use that skirt anymore, i was sad b/c i really loved using dresses, skirts and shorts at that time.
But then when i was in 4th grade i was getting cat called again buy the 6th graders, then my sister started to get cat called by old guys and it was so disgusting for me to see people staring at her legs and then wistling.
Because of that, it's been 6 years since I've used a dress or a skirt, and i just can't get over it b/c it makes me so uncomfortable and scared that someone's gonna cat call me again.

meowsha There are plenty of conservative skirts, shorts, and dresses you can wear. My little sister wears skirts and I do not think she catcalled and she better not either (for their sake). Just make sure it goes to your knees or just above (this rule also applies to men). I believe that is how your supposed to dress for Church, if it is good for church it is good for public wear. Do not let one bad experience make you not dress the way you want.
I love dressing nice, and if I do not dress the way I want - I just am not as confident in myself. I do not care IF people call me gay for liking fashion, whatever. Just like you should not care what a bunch of creepy men think -- because no matter how you dress they will still remain creeps.
Also, you should not walk alone, even a man should not. Bad things happen, people get robbed, others shanked, others are thought of being "cops" simply for being white.

At least it's a bit cooler than pants.. I remember giving one if my friends a tip, she still has the confidence to wear a short skirt so I told her to cut some leggings short. We talked about it because there were guys standing under the staircases at school.. Damn pervs. So now they can't see her underwear! It's different for every person, she just ignores guys and wears short leggings to conceal her underwear, but I avoid skirts in public still. Reading about what happened to you... I'm 15 and I get cat called quite often. I'm 5'2 so it's not like I look like an adult. It's really sickening.

I got it all the time too. I started shaming them, saying how pathetic their life must be if they need to beg for attention from random women. They got pissed, but that pretty much shut most of them up. THEN they couldn't NOT see how pathetic they really were.

It's adorable how many people sent her death threats for performing on video, but nobody threatened the person that did the filming. Only proves further the point of the video.

I've never been really cat called but the first time I went to America I went to Florida. I was in a surfing shop looking at some t-shirt when all of a sudden a man touched my butt. I turned around and he smirked at me, saying he was sorry and laughed after. He was probably way over 20. I was so shocked and scared I ran off to my parents who were on the other side of the shop. I wasn't even sure what had happened so I never talked about this to my parents. I was around 16 the time.

Jazu Neon aww, don't let it happen again and like say "that made me uncomfortable" so even if it was an accident he would know not to do it

I was so young and shocked back then. An unknown man touched me, I didn't even speak proper English. The only thing in that situation I was able to do was to run away. If someone touched me now without permission they would know not to do it again, I would make sure of it.

I wasn't even sure what happened back then once I thought about it more. First I thought it was just an accident but no one would smirk and laugh like that over an accident. As a young teen in a completely new country, running away was really the only thing my brain let me do. I definedly won't let that happen again, now that I'm older and can fight back.
