Love you guys. You take all pressure away. You aren't arrogant! So refreshing after endless videos of women knitters outdoing themselves.

Toe up, for a baby sock, now that I see and listen to the rationale is brilliant! Much more trust-worthy to size the finished sock. I get it! Adult socks I’ve always knitted top down (still a preference) but for very small feet, that grow by the day it seems, this is the way to go. That way if you have to leave the project for a bit and go back when the child is a bit older it’s much easier to adjust for the growth. I repeat, Brilliant. Kudos, men! 😘

I love this suggestion and the talk about mismatched socks. I have a niece that loves my knitted socks and doesn't care about matching. After I make a pair for myself I then make a single sock for her. I didn't start doing this until her foot was adult size, so I just made sure to always have some white or cream for the heel and toe. I prefer tie up, so for her sock I just knit until I ran out of yarn. Sometimes I got an ankle sock, but if I did my pair with white toe and/or heel I got a nice length for her sock.

Love this and went back to watch it again now that I am ready to start some children’s socks. My focus when starting the second sock is always to try as close as possible to match both socks throughout. Do you have any particular way to determine how to cast on the second sock so it will perfectly match the first? I’ve found my own way over the years but wondering if there is an easier way than my own method to get them to match.

I usually knit a pair of infant socks as my swatch for new sock yarn. I usually still have yarn left after making these and a pair for me to make another pair or 2 of baby socks out of 100gm of sock yarn. I can't get the second pair if making socks for my husband.

Perhaps if you see this post, You both can submit a tutorial for sock making for "dummies" like me?

Different color socks are so in style now! Have you thought of donating some of the socks to a children's hospital. There is probably many charities that would love to get socks for the preemies and the children taking chemotheraphy.

My grandmother put baby boxes for the poor together! She would embroidery the cloth diapers and other baby clothes! She would knit booties and hats and blankets! The boxes were wrapped in beautiful paper! The receivers were so happy to receive the big box of love for baby. The people she gave to had little to nothing for the baby they were expecting. Hard to believe in America.

I think people have used 2 needles and done fine, but many teach students to think of the foot as having 4 sides: top, bottom, left side, and right side. "Increases and Decrease happen on these 2 needles, so put your markers on this needle and this needle."
