@@MasterLeong888 especially HDB,! note not all rise price equally, some in ulu places like woodland, Jurong, clementi west coast, here HDB lags in prices up to $300, 000 with the same size units as in marine pareade , bedok, town. That makes us can't move house, wtf !

the HDB crap was caused by Mah Tan era who refused to build more housing causing shortages. This is further fuelled by the 2008 debacle. Coincidentally the HDB prices rocketed after the losses in Citibank and UBS. After this period the Internet boom brought in TONs and TONs of FTs. I saw friends 'made way' for 'special arrangement' and Mr Tan's refusal to split the employment numbers between PRs and locals. This is what I have personally experienced, not some secondary hear say nonsense. All I can see is someone has time to sue but no time to do his FULL TIME job whilst still taking a FAT PAY CHECK and WSG, E2I referral to a 'warehouse assistant', 'assistant station manager'.
Lastly I would conclude to abolish the GRC totally to get rid of the gap fillers. Maybe, just maybe Singapore also needs a DOGE!

All the parties have done very well. PAP is ranked the most effective govt in the world while the opposition parties and their followers are ranked the champions of pofma. Even the opposition leader has been charged for lying under oath. Well done!

If young people worry about getting their 1st home is true, then the ruling party had forgotten the purpose of public housing. I don’t like the idea of affordable housing and watching the price ballon. Both are incompatible. It is up to the young people to realize this problem n to decide if a new party might represent their interest more. I don’t think the ruling party understands this incompatibility. The party must choose one.

  • @davidtan9101

U will be surprised that high housing price benefit PAP.. The only group not happy with high housing price is the 20-30 age group (20% of voters) who are getting married and need to buy a new house. Those single ones get to inherit their parents' house so no problem. For the rest of singaporeans who own a house (80% of voters, especially the older generation), they would be even more happy if PAP can make their current house worth $1billion each, the higher the better for most singaporeans who already own a house. So I think opposition attacking high housing price is futile. PAP can counter "Do you want your house to be worth only $1 by voting for opposition or do u want ur house to be worth $1million by voting for PAP?"? sad but true

The problem is singapore government want to win both ways. Government owned companies make lots of money (utilities, landlords, transport, food, propertydevelopers) but they don't want to pay the political price for increased cost of living. Other countries those services provide by private sector also earned big money but their government kenna whack and lose elections in these inflationary times. How can life be so good make money one side abd don't get blame at same time.

  • @Userc8c

Singapore can solve the housing shortage by not allowing PR to own HDB, instead PRs should rent either from HDB owners or private property.
I never heard PR allowed to own or live in public housing n also received subsidies in other countries, except in Singapore. So what if PR contributes to the economy, they get a safe place to live n job compare back home.
Also I met many SG PRs overseas who owned HDB flat n they rent it out n live abroad or in their motherland -ahem... across the causeway.
HDB should be for citizens only, make that an entitlement to be a Singaporean.

If we understand how the real world out there works, we will know who to vote for our people. Just look around our immediate n'hood first & then the world at large. And this little red dot without any mineral resources whatsoever or land or economies of scale is the one & only surviving city-state on this planet, is astonishing. Just remember, no one can turn the clock back once unwind & being refugees or 2nd class citizens elsewhere isn't a joke. We think when we pull the wealthy down in a capitalist country we serve the masses, we're dreaming. It's this spillover wealth that keeps the engine running fast !
Honestly, what we have is a very powerful & effective locomotive (leadership) all these 60 years to lead this island. We quietly select the best & a balance of others to serve this bereft island. I remember, once the British Oppo then, in jest, called for the PaP to govern the UK to spike the ruling government !
Anyway, talk is cheap. Selling koyok during election time is only good for watching.

For me and my family, we'll not support PAP. Under PAP, Singapore is no longer a home for the common Singaporeans.

The issues you have mention are happening in every country but I would say sg are in better situations than other country

yes, i would say in US, UK, Europe the cost of living crisis situation very serious
we Singaporeans are fortunate to be in a better position as compared to the west

To judge the government based on these issues is a bit unfair because it happening in every country. We should judge them on good time. If in good time, these issues still exist then they have to be voted out.

Sad to say probably no solution even super manufacturing countries like Sweden and Germany are losing large number of manufacturing jobs ... uk new government got no idea to make the economy better. New digital and AI jobs require you to 'like' comp science or IT education not easy for middle aged people. Cryto can make few people rich but the industry do not create lots of jobs. Only thing left is the government must not make the situation worse and through state owned companies make life for singaporeans more difficult

“What am I doing wrong? I have engaged government job placement agency (AKG, e2i, NTUC) etc. and all they gave me was to apply for roles for warehouse assistant when I had healthcare and biotech operations, startup and MNC experiences alongside a masters in business and honors for biomedical engineering from local uni.”

Problem is wife wanting to divorce him due to his jobless status may not be the real issue… all those married with domestic issues will know that things are not always so simple on the surface…
