Can we save our oceans? Sure!
Will we save our oceans before ocean acidification, global warming, & the Holocene mass extinction event destroy them? No!
The Great Barrier Reef is already 60% gone & the rest will be dead within 20 years.
That's just how American capitalism works! 🤷

It's disheartening to see that explicit content consistently receives high viewership, while valuable and well-researched content struggles to gain even a fraction of that attention. It's a reminder of the unfortunate reality that human interests often gravitate towards sensationalized material, while more meaningful content is overlooked....😢😢😢😢

What do you think, are these projects good enough to stop plastic pollution in our oceans? 🤔
Thank you for your support on our recent videos! 💚

While it’s great that we are getting plastic out, the key is eliminating plastic use in the first place for other more sustainable materials.

Unfortunately, this isn't enough to prevent plastic in our oceans, only when plastic production fully stops, will we see impactful results from the projects in the video.

I agree yet I think it’s a good start. We need to be cleaning and preventing more plastic from entering our oceans. This tech is incredibly useful and will still be useful even after we stop producing plastic.

Plastics are indispensible for our life and will never go away (e.g. medical single use products, or do you want a rinsed syringe?). It's important to educate the people not to throw aways their trash illegally and especially improve garbage collection and recycling in the most polluting countries. The biggest chunck of pollution of the oceans is limited to a few countries and big rivers, which simply lacked the resources develop proper waste disposal strategies before cheap plastics flooded the markets. Improving conditions there will not make the garbage patch go away, but drastically slow it's growth. In the meantime, solutions as shown in this video will help to undo the damage over time. Maybe we'll reach a future without huge plastic islands in the sea during our lifetime.

2:34 We have versions of these skimmers here in London on the River Thames. Except that they're massively bigger and passive. Each week or two, they are moved to the next area of concentrated current, mouth upstream and moored until they're full or time dictates a move.

These inventions are cool, but why aren’t we addressing the root problems? Too much plastic and too much plastic ending up in the waterways? 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @w.werion4801

Cause most of these innovations are from a profit free company that has no legal power in any government to stop the trash getting into the water. They can only act opon trash in the water

You guys need to learn the metric system!!! (time 2.51)
Tonnes are NOT equal to kilogrammes, there is a 1000 factor in difference!!!!
    1 ton = 1000 kg!!!!!!
