  • What a day this was!
    You know, apart from my bottle of water flying out of my cage, sitting on the uplift when it decided to rain, ONLY during the uplift mind... Oh and crashing, yes... That as well.

      Thank you! And yeah the only reason we stopped on it is because we would have gone on what I think was perhaps a more pro jump line 😬 I do try to by very considerate because I'd hate it if someone just stood on a trail whilst I was coming at them with speed 🥹

    I like the debrief afterwards! Helps you remember where you are at, when the experience is fresh. Will be fun to look at years from now, yeah?
    I'm sorry you get so frustrated, but I thought you did really well--the length of the runs was far longer than what I remember you doing. That will get you a lot more experience and flow, as it has already.
    From just watching the videos, I don't like the germs either. I know people can just lean and roll right out of them. It must be a confidence in balance to do that, and then you will have speed to flat-out clear the jumps. There must be a way to practice been turns or do exercises on grass? Would make it a bit less intimidating!
    Anyway, now I'm rambling. It's exciting, even if you checked the "First Proper Crash" box. 🙂 You're doing awesome.

      I wish it was fresh, that debrief afterwards was a couple of days ago whereas the trip to Dirt Farm was the end of July 😅 I'm behind on editing and posting videos right now as I've been really busy but I'm getting back on track slowly!
      That's true, I didn't think of the change in the length of the trails, the ones I've usually been on have been much shorter. This is why I like posting videos, because people like yourself can open my eyes to things I hadn't thought of :)
      I agree, the balance you need with berms and the positioning all plays a part, I think once you nail it a couple of times it'll just come to you. Pump tracks are a great place to practice berms (at least the tracks I've seen!)
      But thank you so much, I'm glad others see progress :)

      3 day weekend sounds great, if only a 4 day working week was a normality haha

    You’ve come along way in a short space of time , very impressive riding for a beginner at a place like that , you’ve crashed and hurt yourself, that’s a physical thing , the pain is short term , riding straight afterwards is mental , it shows you have character …. You did the right thing after a fall and kudos to you for doing it , watch Loam Ranger videos on berms , I found that helpful 👍

    Damn Flynn that fall looked very painful, it would have shook me up as well! Like you said its difficult to tell from the video how it happened, does seem like you could have perhaps come up a bit short and bounced? I'm just guessing though, as I've not attempted stuff like this myself nor do I ride a full suspension bike like you. I rock the much cheaper hardtail haha.
    Your doing everything right though, trying to analyzing everything. You have got really good in such a short space of time, you shouldn't beat yourself up so much not being able to do things like that steep bridge drop. It will come.
    These trails though are bloody wild btw! How the different trails were weaving in and out of one and other, and to me at least it looks like your were flying through most of it. Boy did I also get furious when I seen those people WALKING the WRONG way down the trail toward you, and even the people that were stood barely off it... I thought you were gonna clip em as you were going past. Some people man, so bloody inconsiderate
    With the exception of you getting hurt. What a fantastic video Flynn!!! I loved that you've done clips from both helmet & chest mounted angles. Then to add clips from one of your friends, so we can view you from behind as well..... BRILLIANT!!! So cool you have people you can ride with.
    Sadly i'll not be out on any significant big trails in the near future. My car has packed in and is destined for the scrapheap so I'm stuck with my local family friendly trails haha. Which is gutting, because I was planning on going to Glentress mtb trails once they opened back up after the world championships had finished there. Sadly need a car to get to these bigger places

    • @flynnrow
      @flynnrow  ปีที่แล้ว

      It was SO frustrating that I fell on what was one of the smallest things, but that goes to show that you should be on your A game on the trails, big or small 😅 yeah that could be the case, I didn't really clear it!
      Ah I just get SO frustrated when I can actually do jumps (albeit not a gap jump) but I can't go down a bloody ramp because it's 'steep', I think I'm nervous about the wrong things 😣
      Honestly, even though it was after the crash and I wasn't really going to try to go all out on the final part, to just see people walking up the trail ON the trail and the ones right on the edge... Imagine if a decent rider was coming down there super fast?? It's just really inconsiderate.
      I don't know which camera angle I'd like to stick with, but it isn't difficult to switch from chest to head, but when it's on the helmet you can really 'be' the rider, you know, you see what they see.
      I'm really happy I have people to ride with, it's a nice switch up as I like being by myself, but I also like going with others.
      I'm sorry to hear that! At least, for now, you have the local family friendly trails to just get out :)

    The progress you've made is impressive! I don't believe that anyone has mentioned this. The second crash you had happened because of a "case", meaning you landed on the uphill side of the second hill of a double. For doubles you can either try to clear both of the lips which requires boosting the jump a little more than you did by loading the bike with your legs coming up to the first jump's lip, or you can deaden the jump by absorbing some of the energy at the lip of the first jump with your legs like you would on a pump track which will cause the jump to land shorter. In either case I feel like you had good speed for the features right before your crash and you did an excellent job of assessing yourself quickly then getting off the trail to further assess and collect yourself to continue to the bottom of the trail. Major kudos to you and your physical and mental toughness to jump back on the bike.

    • @flynnrow
      @flynnrow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Dirt Farm really pushed my small skillset to the limit 😅
      Thanks for explaining that, I didn't even notice that I landed on the second hill of the double! I'll definitely have to go back to check, but everything you said makes sense. I've come across doubles before and I haven't had the experience with them often to figure out how to handle them so I just absorb and move on.
      I had to get back down one way and my legs and arms were still moving so the bike was the quickest way haha!
