  • "The battle of Las Algatin!" Episode 14 in the narrative campaign “Clash on Crapus 4”, where a supposedly abandoned planet suddenly attracts the attention of several different forces and races.
The forces of Havoc had launched their heavy attack on Crapus 4. The Prime Brothers and their allies fought back, and after days of battle with severe casualties, the two sides met in a final battle in the very center of the planet’s once glorious capital Las Algatin.
Havoc commanders Kaligor and Azhaak had to be stopped, and Prime Brothers supreme command trusted Lieutenant Gabriel with the task. Once again High Sister Adelia and her Battle Sisters stood at his side. This could be the final showdown between arch enemies as well as the battle that could decide the fate of Crapus 4!

I really loved seeing you do a larger Grimdark Future battle report, and loved that it was longer than usual, which really made the thing more of a feature. The game itself was really exciting and I massively enjoyed the terrain set up and the lovely collection of miniatures involved... a really nice array of forces which made for a beautifully eclectic game.

Thanks very much for the feedback.. This was certainly my biggest battle yet.. I carefully try not to make them too long, but I guess I’ll continue with both the quick ones and then from time to time the larger and longer battles like this.. 👍

At 37:20 there was no need for a morale test (biker bro) as there was still 2/3 of them alive. We dont count the tough value except if it's a single unit. Maybe im wrong or it's your house rules then I didn't say anything 😁 anyway great vid as always

You're absolutely right! I was uncertain about the rule and checked up on it after the recordings.. Luckily they pulled it off anyway.. If the failed morale check wasn't rolled, it would probably have affected the game so the victory was a little less narrow, because the bikers probably would have moved and contested the nearby objective.. Thanks very much for watching

Great video. I really like the rules integration and explanation. Only thing I didn’t follow, it appeared at times you rolled a morale test when a unit was shot at even though it didn’t in that shooting event fall below half its unit strength or if Individual model as a unit half toughness. This seemed to happen with the sisters on the roof and later with the bikes.

Thanks very much.. Glad you enjoyed the battle! 😊 Morale can certainly cause confusion.. In the case with the Battle Sisters, they first lost 3 models out of 5, so here they went below half strength.. Next time they were shot at, they lost 1 out of 2.. And here can be a debate, because 1 is not half of original strength, but I play it like when a unit once has been reduced to half strength, then every time additional models are taken out, they do a morale check no matter if it’s not half of original strength or even half of current strength.. I’m pretty sure (though not 100%) that this is confirmed.. and it makes sense, because when a unit first has been reduced to half and taken a morale test, then it would be strange if they suddenly went back to great morale shape and wouldn’t take notice next time they were further reduced. With the Prime Bikers you’re absolutely right.. They took a morale test at app. 37.00 they shouldn’t have.. they went below half starting tough value, but that’s only for one model units.. So in this case half strength would be 1 prime biker left..

Just to clear up any morale confusion. You take a morale test each time a unit takes a wound while it is equal to or below half of its **starting strength** (model count for squad units, tough value for single entity units). Outside of melee the easiest way to handle morale is to first resolve the damage, if a wound is taken and the unit is below half, roll morale (failure pins).
It is possible to force more than one morale test within a single activation. For example if a spell (which must be cast before attacking) does a wound to a unit equal to or below half, that would force the first morale test. If that same unit then shot the same unit doing another wound, a second morale test would be needed. If this same unit that cast a spell and shot, also had a "bomb a unit that it flies over" ability, which caused a wound, that would cause a third morale test.
In melee it is easy, just the loser rolls morale. If it is a tie no morale checks are done. A failure above starting strength, the unit is pinned. A failure at or below half starting strength, the unit is routed (removed from play). Also remember that when a unit is pinned all morale tests automatically fail, which is quite important for routing pinned units in melee.
