Wow! I just saw how that 4th-finger trill is executed. That has always been a big challenge for me! That trill is done with a vibrato motion of the wrist. Brilliant!
Yes indeed, Wayne! If you try to lift and lower the 4th finger, you'll wear it out. 😄 You basically lock the hand in place and then rotate the whole arm very quickly. Hope you have luck with the 4th finger trill, too!
I remember loving this piece after Sheku Kanneh Mason played it at the royal wedding. It transported me to mount Olympus and I had thought I saw Cupid or Eros in the air.
Me too, friend. I gave up double bass after nearly 40 years because of a stroke in 2018. Recovering nicely now and playing 'cello for a year and a half. I love it!!! 78 years of age now. Isn't she beautiful, and doesn't she play wonderfully?
Here too guys. Man, cello is a stern mistress, needs a lot of respect both physically and mentally ...unlike drums and electric bass which in comparison are sooo easy. Carolyns instruction is so valuable.
I do. I just finished a workshop in Northern California for adult (amateur-ish) cellists. I also do weekly Zoom clinics for members on my website, CelloDiscovery.com
Gorgeous playing. Learning this piece now and your video showing the bow distribution is so helpful 🤩❤️🙏
This is beautiful, thank you for sharing 🌹
Thank you. ☺

❤ this is beautiful. The posture is great I could watch your fingers the whole day.
Hi Sikhonzile!
You are an inspiration to an aging bass player who is transitioning to cello.
Your playing gives me something to shoot for.
Thank you.
