I am so late to the party, but I'm so glad I got to see this. I love listening to other people's journeys. For those of us, who didn't follow people like Michael and Jo from the beginning, only know of their success and brilliance that we currently see. I really enjoyed hearing of all the hard work and sacrifice that it took for them to achieve their dreams. It is inspiring to see how their resilience helped them persevere through their struggles. Thank you for sharing your stories. Loved the segment about sharing the light with everyone. We can all shine together.
I’ve been Jokoy’s fan. Love him and would really love to see his show one of these days. Just found Michael Yo accidentally and now loving him too. Thank you both for letting us laugh (and pee sometimes-lol) so hard to the point of crying. God bless you both.
I love this conversation. Thank you for doing it. 2 men being sooo open and vulnerable. This is the role modeling we need in this generation. Jo Koy, pleeeease don't apologize for the genuine tears. The genuine crying is always welcome.
I like to watch Jo Koy's interviews. His fame has not gotten to his head. He is the same now as he was when he was not so famous. He is a really genuine person and so likeable and endearing. I am a fan of his stand-up and a fan of him as a person. I wish him more success!
I know this is an old interview, but this is my first time seeing it. Wow. Two of my absolute favorite comedians keeping it real. For all the men who never get to be heard, who never get to show their vulnerability, this is holds so much value.
I love this conversation. Thanks to both of you for being so honest and genuine. As someone who is also mixed (Filipino, Danish/West Indies, Irish), this kind of dialogue means a lot! Celebrating your success!😊❤
I'm 67 and my sisters 68, we are biracial. Back in the day it sucked big time! We were not even accepted within our own family let alone society. The 1950, 1960s snd and 70s were not fun. So happy this is out there! Over the Moon it makes me cry for joy that the world is changing a little more.
The flipping humility of this man…is the very reason he is where he is now. Of course, hard work and tenacity and resilience…couple each with humility is GOLDEN. 🔥🙌🏾❤️
So funny, my Filipino mom never was affectionate towards us kids growing up but now when I see her I make sure and give her extra long awkward hugs. Her arms just dangles by her sides. She always smiles though. 😄
It’s really good to have lived in a financial struggle and teaches you to appreciate life and makes you a better person. If you have never experienced it you will not be as good a person. Think about it. My favorite friends are better people today because of their experiences as under privileged teen. Jo Koy I ❤ u.
Why am I just seeing this? Wow what a great interview. Being able to see Jo Koy be vulnerable and talk about his brother (who BTW I didn't know he had one) was very powerful. Michael Yo is such a great interviewer and now I became a fan of his podcasts I wish great success and blessing for the both of yall 🙏
Jo Koy is RIGHT. He knows his son. He can afford to buy his son a Porsche. For regular folks it might be a 10 yr old Ford.... for Jo's kid, he'll always give him the best. My son is the exact same way. BTW, my son is half Filipino. I'm his American mom. My son is so good to his 2 sons and they NEVER ask for anything... they have adored their dad from the day they were born and they are inseparable as 18 & 19 yr old boys. They love their dad and they work in his business (their business) and it was what they dreamed to do when they grew up... "work with Dad in his business". JoKoy is RIGHT. Our kids will NEVER have the lives we had. We have worked to give our kids better than we had. JoKoy is RIGHT. MY KIDS ARE RIGHT. YES! We give affection...... openly. My kids are 56 & 58 years old, with kids from 39 to 18, and no one is ashamed to hug or kiss each other anywhere, at anytime. JoKoy is RIGHT.
Jo Koy.. great comedian and Michael Yo.. just found him and already a fan.. the two together.. awesome mix. Would LOVE to see them both live.. please please come to Rochester NY..
Michael and Josep!!!! You guys rock!! Jo, your emotions make you the most huggable soft toy on the planet!!!! I am half Pilipino, half Chinese, and I hug like crazy. Making up, for a non-hugger Dad. Momio hugged me plenty, miss her, ad infinitum.
ITS OK JO. WE LOVE YOU!!! YOU'RE RIGHT KIDS LOVE EASY FORGET FAST AND THATS A GOOD THING! LOVE AND TALK ABOUT UR BROTHER WE JUST BURIED A 23 YEAR OLD FAMILY MEMBER WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA FEOM SUICIDE. I LOVE AND APPRECIATE YOUR DEPTH OF EMOTION!
Two of my fav comedians! 💙💚 I have seen Jo Koy twice and Michael Yo recently. You both don’t disappoint. Jo made me tear up listening to this. So real and honest and just two genuine guys.
Love these two guys, I watch them both all the time, Love seeing them together, Jo Koy had such a tuff childhood, his dad was a jerk, he couldn't handle his responsibility. I am glad Jo Koy turned out this great.
This really hits home, cause my parents was so busy with work when I was growing up that they don't have much time to bond with me, but with my daughter even though I split with her mom when she was only a year old, I make it a point to helped and make sure my daughter finish her homework every single school night and put a side time every weekend to have a father and daughter time even though I have to work 2 jobs and work everyday through the year, I call her 3x a day to say I love her, and when she was 5 (in 2000) gave her a cell phone so she can contact me anytime about anything so she don't have to use the house phone to contact me.
I commend you as a father; but please do take time for a vacation and rest. Overworking this beautiful body of yours will take a toll on your health. She needs you strong and healthy. ❤
August 16, 2022 and I watched this video today for the first time - mainly because I recently "found" Jo Koy, and NOW - NOW - I found Michael Yo, 2 for the price of 1 !! awesome interview. When I saw the video Hula Dance by Jo Koy, I'm his fan for life. I've never laughed so hard in my 70+ years. Thank you Michael, wishing you great success as well.
I’m seeing both of these men for the first time today, May 27th, 2023. My heart is melting from their warmth. We do need these men as role models ~ men who show their hearts boldly ~
You two are amazing fathers! I am sorry, that you are missing out on important times in their lives. But, your children should know how lucky they are that their father loves them so much that ya'll work so hard to provide for them not to mention the fact you cannot be in two places at once. They will understand when they get older. Much love to both of you!!
You gentlemen are amazing. Your stories touch my heart. I’m so glad that you happened to cross my feed. I really wish you both even greater success. I hope I have the opportunity to see you in person. I’ve seen the greatest stand-up’s in my life. From Redd Foxx to Robin Williams to Joan Rivers to Moms Mabley. Lily Tomlin to Whoopie Goldberg. Cedric is legendary. Y’all have heart and are funny as “F”. Yeah, I’m an old-timer.
The way you care for your audience Jo Koy is why I really love you! Aside from great jokes, aside from being Asian, aside from being Filipino, you’re a good human being! I can’t wait to see you! 💕❤️
Letting others know about my childhood traumas is my therapy. I'm grateful that I am comfortable doing that with people because it lessens the pain in a weird way. Culturally in most Asian countries/households, parents don't verbally tell their children that they are loved. It is assumed with their actions. I grew up in such a household, and I am now middle aged, but I don't feel trauma from that - there were waaaaay bigger issues in my family - hahaha.
I want a Jo Koy hug!!!! My Mom was Filipina and my Dad Scotch-Irish…so needless to say - I never got hugs. A friend of mine has been teaching me how to appreciate them. There has been progress - I don’t think I flinch anymore when someone comes at me for a hug 🤣
Jo Koy your interviews are amazing because there are a lot of lessons that anyone can learn and understand about life, thank you and you are too too funny 😄
Love this interview!🙋🏾 Love your friendship, your brotherhood.🫂🫶 so much! Jo & Michael, you have no idea how many lives you touch with your genuineness & authenticity..and yes, so glad Jo had the means to produce that show & that Netflix saw the light! can't believe they even THOUGHT about sleeping in it! & Michael, so many of us remember you from back in the day, so not only from your most recent work only. you being in the entertainment & comedy space is so significant, so important. please let us see even more or your brilliant work! because people like you & Jo are our North Star in that crazy place called the comedy world, we need you!🧚🏾♀️🪄🔮✨
This conversation is something that everyone should see. Every, single, person is exposed to someone suffering with their mental health. That may be by being a caregiver to someone in their life (or even themself) but this shows the stigma around the subject. Due to the commonality of the struggles, we need to be more open to communicating about the challenges people can face and how it affects them. It can vary widely from a short bout of depression that can be controlled with a medication or it can be something much more severe like what he presents here. We grew up in times where people didn’t talk about it or even really believe in mental health. It’s never something to be ashamed of.
Such an amazing interview. I love the honesty that you guys allowed your audience to experience.i guess aome people call it vulnerability... I feel we got to see your amazing humanity. Thank you so much!
I love talk shows like these. I loveee them.the rambling and specially when its good topics and honest. The energy and Jo koy is awesome and I'm just now descovering him. And ive seen his face before. Crazy!
Awe. Jo, I know exactly why you do what you do with your son. I do the same with my kids. I missed way too many of their growing up moments, and now that I can give them anything they want, I do. Just like your son, my kids never ask for anything, and when they do, I get them exactly what they want. I still carry the guilt of not being there. My kids tell me how much I've missed out, and it hurt them. I know it did, even if they say they're ok. I would trade the time for money now, but at the time I didn't want my kids to be in the same place I was as a child. I guess they got their own dose of sadness from childhood. I'm a little sad now so I'm gonna keep watching the video and I know y'all are gonna make me laugh..
Kinda sad that we live in a society that even needs to say how nice it is to see men being vulnerable. It should just be a normal thing. I love these 2. When I'm down, I pop on one of their videos and immediately start to feel better. This is the first time I've seen this, and just really happy it's 2 of my favorites!

I had a boss in 2000’s who is black, and when I asked her if someone was mixed, (black and white), and she told me that there is no such thing as mixed, he’s black. Being Asian, I did not know that at that time.
The father misses a lot of first time moments, and as time changes, moms are missing those moments now. My first two I missed out on moments cause I worked by the job, some were short day some long never shorter then 8 hours , never on Sunday, now my wife is the money maker and 17 after our first born, our third child and I think our last, now 8 months old, I now get to experience staying home and seeing his first moments, I never thought that it was a hard thing for my wife staying home with the kids, oh how I was wrong, my health has made me think really hard if I'd keep working and risk losing my life, my wife made that decision for me, either she loves me or she getting revenge, either way I'll enjoy experiencing my child first moments, couldn't have received a better gift ever.

His dad came into his life After he was an adult. However, he did not raise Jo. I am glad Jo was able to forgive him, but he is not a father. Jo sounds like an amazing father, and it is so difficult to break bad behavior that you are exposed to and become a better man/person.

I like Michael Yo's podcast because he allows his guests to talk.
I love both of you guys. I watch your comedy show during my darkest time and my world gets better.
Damnit! You guys! This is the greatest podcast I've seen in some time. I realize it's kinda old, but still, bravo gentleman.

I am so glad that you included a lot of female comedians! It is a tough field and they tend to be ignored.😢
The way you care for your audience Jo Koy is why I really love you! Aside from great jokes, aside from being Asian, aside from being Filipino, you’re a good human being! I can’t wait to see you! 💕❤️
Good Lord, thank you for speaking on ALL our races as mixed kids!!!! Not just the one society chooses to label us as!!!! You guys are great! ❤️❤️❤️
JO is SO legit - glad he got his well deserved blessing finally and fulfilled ALL of his comedic dreams in this lifetime🏆👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Two really good comediens and apparently very good friends! Excellent podcast.

I'm an Independent Latino. Two KINGS!!!!

Hard to talk about brother 🤙 You ain't alone
This is brilliant, I can't believe how deep this conversation got, considering how it started, good to see two blokes being open and vulnerable.
Thanks for watching
Just found your show and podcast Yo! It’s fantastic! Your parents are adorable!
JoKoy is sooooo Filipino on his analogy of life 👍🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍
I’d love to see more of them.
Jo is a sweetheart of a man how lucky is Chelsea to have him.
That was then
They broke up. She has said she felt she had to change in order to be in his life.
She was absolutely toxic for him. Good that they’re not together.
Wow, the interview I didn't know I needed. Haha. Awesome. ♡

Loved this! 👏🏼💗💕
love your show. thank you
10:50 OMG, what a throwback, Jo! I remember putting tape over the VHS tape and setting it on SLP so I could have 3 movies or 6 hours of music videos from MTV!!!
Dang, Jo! I just wanna give you a hug!!! I know it may sound cliche but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and another thing... I'm so glad you didn't allow your experience to make you bitter and you decided to lavish your son with the love you never had.
You will never understand how much you two brought thoughts that I have hidden!!
Keep talking about real feelings!!
This was awesome to hear !
Asians in the house y'all!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇵🇭🇰🇷🇵🇭🇰🇷🇵🇭🇰🇷 Wish you could also do stand up collab with other Asian comedians. Jimmy O. Yang, Nigel Ng, Dawn Wong. And of course please include Jokoy ❤️❤️❤️
I gave Jo a chance and he was friggin hilarious. You can’t judge a book by its cover.
I have watched absolutely everything you've done
I just subscribe to your channel. I think you're so funny and I love it. Keep up the good work man, I think a lot of people loves your comedy.
You guys are both talking with substance and very articulate.
I love joe koy ❤️
13:17 I agree, going on a train in those days required a lot of preparation, hair, makeup, fashionable clothes, luggage. You had to dress up for TRAVELING!!!
I don’t mind comics telling some of their old material at their new shows especially if it’s some of their signature jokes! 🤣❤️
Great Guys Great Podcast!!! ❤️
5⭐️ You are very good radio show,I love jo koy. I'm Cuban I understand you guys very much . I love you kids
Appreciate it!!!
When Jo Koy says we don't talk about it with Bruno. We don't talk about Bruno popped in my head lol

I had a boss in 2000’s who is black, and when I asked her if someone was mixed, (black and white), and she told me that there is no such thing as mixed, he’s black. Being Asian, I did not know that at that time.
You both are amazing. Thank you for what you do. You M are my laugh so hard. God bless ❤.
your pops is stand up by not saying he was visiting your brother. that is real. that rice is rice bit was awesome.
Really nice podcast between two guys.
You’re the best Kuya Jo Koy!
the things in life that matter the most are the things that don't come easy .. and it's the little things in life that when added up have the most meaning, whether good or bad
I’m raising a young man just like you two, half Filipino & Caucasian man. I’m Filipina & I met my husband when we’re both in the military.
His dad came into his life After he was an adult. However, he did not raise Jo. I am glad Jo was able to forgive him, but he is not a father. Jo sounds like an amazing father, and it is so difficult to break bad behavior that you are exposed to and become a better man/person.
Jo koy is emotional I love him❤️
Luv them both
