Honestly, this game is tragically unseen by people. I can barely find videos of it let alone good ones, none i see have commentary, and i've even tried searching through videos that showcase flash games, livestream recordings and tier lists too. Nothing! For a flash game that is 2D, Xenos has impressive amounts of detail that makes me think "Was this stuff 3D and then converted to 2D?". Character and enemy designs are interesting and detailed, but not too over-the-top and unneccessarily flashy. Weapons are well designed and balanced with each having different specialities, heck the first weapon's dash gives invincibility even to mines despite a low cost, the scythe's ability has the greatest crowd control and energy building but at Max Power it can drain energy incredibly fast, and it has a extremely powerful combo with using the gravity well to pin and group enemies, then switching to the axe, getting very close to the enemies and whacking them all with one shockwave, the twinblade is very balanced and versatile, able to build up energy against groups and manage crowds at the initial cost of energy to throw it, and the 5th weapon, the secret sword is a very close-quarters brute that has issues against spread-out and bigger crowds but can give extended invincibility while destroying projectiles and explosives easily, making it able to clear tracking missiles consistently especially in a few late-game bosses. Levels are well designed and while creativity has it's limits, most levels have a unique gimmick with the mapping and features. Difficulty isn't to be underestimated either, the character isn't just some superman with plot-armour strength, their suit's powerful, but that compact power in such a small frame also makes it dangerous to wear, for if it breaks it outright explodes and kills the user. Gaining fresh energy not only lets the suit repair itself a bit, but gives more fuel to the weapon. Even though it can be healed like this, it's very easy for a group of enemies, or even a single strong one, to heavily punish a mistake and do a LOT of damage, sometimes bringing the player from full health to dead in a second. Other times, bullet-hell sprays can gradually chip health off the player until they die, the Bee Swarms being a prime example of this. Honestly, even the science of the character's suit is logically sound, and Dr Crenson had every right to be in disbelief at that compacted controlled power. And then there's the levels like The Clenser, with intense nerve-racking music playing as a literal sweeping death-ray of pure intense energy sweeps the whole level, destroying mines and instakilling the player on contact. Devs also did a great job making it not too rubberbandy, it still does a little bit of rubberbanding if the player zooms further ahead, but it's not too noticable and doesn't ruin immersion, yet keeps the difficulty JUST right. And man, the bosses, fighting with only so many energy sources in the arena to heal from if badly injured or needing to power the weapon. While Dr Crenson does mostly the same stuff each time, it does get more difficult. The main thing is the final boss which is not only a interesting plot-twist and was rather ominous with it's prior brief dialogues, but it is a very mobile foe that doesn't just stand around and let you pulverise it, instead it moves and on taking a hit will teleport, sometimes into a wall for a bit of time, which also makes sense because it's energy incarnate, it doesn't bump into walls like robots do. It's also extremely dangerous at close range, but close range is melee distance so risks must be taken to strike. The only saving grace is that hitting them can split a piece of energy off of them, and that could help heal and slightly extend the weapon's power. Even the ending has such a great setup to a possible sequel. Imagine hunting the core pieces across a bigger world, and in fact, there is plently of room for a new villian to show up but use different tactics than Dr Crenson. And finally, the sounds and music in the game is so good, the impact is solid. It's quite different than most games i even know of, but it fits so very well. The music is very detailed too, with appropriate pacing and intensity based on situation. Honestly, this game is such a gem, so much development effort and love can be seen in it all, and it doesn't drag itself out too long, periodically adding to the characters' personalities as things progress, yet not overstaying it's welcome. It leaves a lot of the story open to interpretation too, like of the characters, origins, history, and reasons for what happened. Even the Arena mode had some interesting (but very interpretable) story details if played very well. I love this game, it's honestly a excellent game and when i played it as a kid i loved it all, and when i later revisited it on flashpoint, i took even more notice of the finer qualities and each weapons' specialities and hidden details, even damage stats and range. I relished ALL of it even when it kicked my ass multiple times with it's deceptive difficulty. If anyone sees this message, feel free to tell people like those in flash communities, and youtubers about this game.

This game was part of our childhoods and yet so much love that went into the development of this game was not recognized by the world, and that's sad. As you mentioned, there are hardly any decent and complete gameplays regarding this game. That is why I decided to upload this video, to leave a trace of this great jewel on the internet, which my childhood self would have liked to see on YT. @@xelaasterus I didn't expect to influence you this much, but i'm sure a review would be great for Xenos. And who knows? Maybe more people in flash game communities could be shown this game. I'm confident that Xenos could have a impressive Speedrun and Scorerun leaderboard too, because the score multipliers, energy, weapons, weapon range, abilities, damage and more has so much room for calculations to be more efficient and speeds and score especially to vary for better and worse records. When i played, i tried to be efficient and fast enough, but despite my best efforts i sure was far from perfection, and i made numerous critical mistakes at times that slowed me down or outright smited me in half a second. I mean, i even underestimated those smaller swordsmen robots, and a group of them dived upon me with a flurry of melee dash strikes and nuked my health to nothing. Feel free to use my review of Xenos for a basis of analysing the game, and if you wish, you can quote it too or add parts to your own words. (Also as a extra note: I think Asterus' suit's health could actually be defensive energy shields. Asterus' suit constantly glows with blue energy, and when the Barrier Wing is obtained, that energy turns red and max health is raised a bit more. Now imagine, that Barrier Wing is basically a additional piece of the suit. That's more potential energy capacity and thus more capacity for the shields. Plus, the red colour is a bit similar to the red colour of Max Power energy, and judging from the blue colour of raw and seemingly less dense energy, Max Power energy might be denser, thus the red shields would be denser higher quantity energy, and that'd explain the max health being raised just by attaching the Barrier Wing. As for the weapon, higher quantity denser energy tends to be more powerful, and if exposed like the glowing parts of the weapons, exhaust faster because of there being more energy to disperse (even passively depleting into the air). It's like having a boiling rock in water, the water heats faster and the rock cools quicker. I think this might be the case with even attacking a enemy with the exposed energy of a Max Power energy weapon, imagine whacking the robots and instead of the less dense energy of the weapon (blue, green or orange) absorbing a piece of the robot's energy, and directing it to the core of the weapon for use, instead the dense high quantity of red Max Power energy disperses through the target on each hit, dealing way harsher blows but exhausting itself. I think this effect can also be seen with the prior energy colours. Blue soaks up more energy, green a bit less, and orange even less. It's like the energy of the weapon, in higher potency, instead disperses the excess of itself into it's target more and more. There's like, a whole bunch of theoretically sound science here! The only two things that are debatable is how the Axe shockwave and Scythe vortex directs energy it absorbs, to the weapon itself.)
I watched your gameplay more and i realised/ remembered two little details of the weapons and abilities. 1. The energy tiers work as following: just before 1/3 of the meter = Blue. 1/3 of the meter triggers green. Green lasts from just after zero energy, up to just before 2/3 of the meter. 2/3 of the meter triggers orange. Orange lasts from just after 1/3 of the meter, up to just before full meter. Full meter triggers red Max Power. Max Power lasts from just after 2/3 of the meter, up to full meter. This means Green and Orange are the tiers that has the highest capacity, but due to the way energy gain and drain is managed, Orange is still harder to maintain, but Red is still the shortest lasting tier, followed by Orange, Green, and Blue (unlimited). Red's smaller capacity also makes it easier for abilities to shut down Red on use, because most abilities drain about a half or slightly more of each circle of the meter, and combined with faster draining, can shut down Red very quickly. 2. The weapon's size is based on the energy meter, not the level of power, but i don't know if this difference effects melee range, or if it's only the power tiers that effect range. At exactly 40:00 We can see that at least the Axe abilities' size is not based on the amount of energy in the meter, but instead the energy tier. Your first swing was with just under 1/3 of the energy meter, and just barely missed the mines. Your second swing was with just under 2/3 of the energy meter, and travelled the same distance as the first swing. Same size while green, even at different energy amounts. If you want, you can test the range of the melee, from green just after zero energy (blue), to green just before 2/3 (orange) of the meter. That's a big difference even though it's still green tier (because orange isn't triggered yet). Not sure if the ability size works the same on all weapons. Both sword weapons' abilities use the weapon while it's in the hand, so i don't know if those work the same as say, the Axe ability.
Btw if you check a wiki for data on the game, some things might be a slight bit inaccurate. Only statistical details and finer things from what i noticed. One inaccuracy is that it isn't stated that the Xenos Core teleports every time it's hit by the player. I think it still teleports occasionally on it's own, but it definitely tries to evade after struck. The wiki also claims that some weapons have different attack speeds. I'm not sure about that one. It also says that the Axe has decent attack damage. It actually has i think the highest or second highest attack damage, rivalled by i think Megatron.

Holy shit, i just realised something that the devs did here in the intro of the game. Only while i was making a AC6 Asterus Cosplay (Share Codes: AC: CFBPUCYDX88G Emblem: WVG06GWPDUY9), and i was looking for a image of the intro (i replicated the pose in Photo Mode although mirrored). I checked this video, then looked for a higher quality image, found Qaser7's Intro Cutscene video, and i noticed: The Barrier Wing upgrade is SHOWN in Qaser7's video! They already had it unlocked before re-playing, and it appears in the intro scene too! Now we need to find out if the Barrier Wing DOESN'T show up in the ending cutscenes, where Asterus watches the fortress fall, and flies off across the skies! Holy shit devs, great optional detail there!

1/3 of the meter triggers green.
Green lasts from just after zero energy, up to just before 2/3 of the meter.
2/3 of the meter triggers orange.
Orange lasts from just after 1/3 of the meter, up to just before full meter.
Full meter triggers red Max Power.
Max Power lasts from just after 2/3 of the meter, up to full meter.
This means Green and Orange are the tiers that has the highest capacity, but due to the way energy gain and drain is managed, Orange is still harder to maintain, but Red is still the shortest lasting tier, followed by Orange, Green, and Blue (unlimited).
Red's smaller capacity also makes it easier for abilities to shut down Red on use, because most abilities drain about a half or slightly more of each circle of the meter, and combined with faster draining, can shut down Red very quickly.
2. The weapon's size is based on the energy meter, not the level of power, but i don't know if this difference effects melee range, or if it's only the power tiers that effect range.
At exactly 40:00 We can see that at least the Axe abilities' size is not based on the amount of energy in the meter, but instead the energy tier.
Your first swing was with just under 1/3 of the energy meter, and just barely missed the mines.
Your second swing was with just under 2/3 of the energy meter, and travelled the same distance as the first swing. Same size while green, even at different energy amounts.
If you want, you can test the range of the melee, from green just after zero energy (blue), to green just before 2/3 (orange) of the meter. That's a big difference even though it's still green tier (because orange isn't triggered yet).
Not sure if the ability size works the same on all weapons. Both sword weapons' abilities use the weapon while it's in the hand, so i don't know if those work the same as say, the Axe ability.
Btw if you check a wiki for data on the game, some things might be a slight bit inaccurate. Only statistical details and finer things from what i noticed.
One inaccuracy is that it isn't stated that the Xenos Core teleports every time it's hit by the player. I think it still teleports occasionally on it's own, but it definitely tries to evade after struck.
The wiki also claims that some weapons have different attack speeds. I'm not sure about that one.
It also says that the Axe has decent attack damage. It actually has i think the highest or second highest attack damage, rivalled by i think Megatron.

Also you're right, this game has the potential to do speed run, I realized about that while playing it, maybe one day I'll try speedrun, the mechanical of the healing and damages is really awesome too, you live forever or you get insta killed with one mistake.

Holy shit, i just realised something that the devs did here in the intro of the game.
Only while i was making a AC6 Asterus Cosplay (Share Codes: AC: CFBPUCYDX88G
Emblem: WVG06GWPDUY9), and i was looking for a image of the intro (i replicated the pose in Photo Mode although mirrored). I checked this video, then looked for a higher quality image, found Qaser7's Intro Cutscene video, and i noticed:
The Barrier Wing upgrade is SHOWN in Qaser7's video! They already had it unlocked before re-playing, and it appears in the intro scene too!
Now we need to find out if the Barrier Wing DOESN'T show up in the ending cutscenes, where Asterus watches the fortress fall, and flies off across the skies!

I don’t remember well, bur when you are going to choose a level, down at the righ corner it tells you that there’s a hiden chip, you have too check every single part only of that level and that’s it. No need to search in every single level.
