I am a wife. My hubby is nlind and now needs a ramp. I'm over 65, but I think I can build this. Thank you for sacrificing your comfort in the heat to share the process.
The ramp looks great!! Your father is blessed to have you and you being able to build the ramp for him. Prayers for your father to heal well from his fall.
Sad to hear about your dad. Thank God he is still here with us & no brain damage, jus know your dad has a wonderful son that thinks the world of him to build him a ramp. Bless you son❤️
Your dad has a beautiful rock house. You and your brother are great kids for taking care of mom and dad. Doing this ramp shows the love you have for you family. Sorry your father fell but with God’s help and prays he will get better.
Your dad is so blessed he has a son that can make a ramp for him. My mom had a stroke a couple of weeks ago and we’re going to have to pay someone to build her. I hope your dad heals quickly!!
Sorry about your dad's fall! My mom fell recently as well. I will be building this ramp tomorrow so she can come for Thanksgiving. Thanks for making this video - so very helpful!
Great job. You have put a lot of love in the handicap ramp for your dad. Diabetes is manageable for most. Gangrene got both legs near the knees on my nephew by marriage. My husband had a stroke and may need a wheelchair ramp because he's having trouble getting out of sitting. I will keep your plan on my mind.
Sorry for your fathers difficulties and I am so glad he is ok and has a son returning back love and care for him that he did for your. I hope this will help us to get this done at my Dads house. Thanks. God Bless His.
Nice indoor wheelchair ramp Myke. To help prevent the wheelchair from picking up speed on the way down or from slipping if coming in from rain or snow, you might want to purchase some Anti-slip tape to put on the ramp. The handrails are a great idea. He could actually pull himself up or down using them if he needed to. Thank you Myke, I care about and think about you all too. Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe. May God continue to bless you, your family and your adventures.
Thank you for your video. Very helpful. My wife just had extensive foot surgery, so she is will not be weight bearing for at least 2-3 months. You are appreciated for your efforts.
This video was a huge help in building a ramp necessary to get in and out of the house for critical medical appointments. A direct impact on the lives of others. Thank you.
I’ve had multiple strokes (my videos talk about how far I’ve come) and was in a wheelchair for a short time until physical therapy helped me learn to walk again but my brother built me a ramp to get in and out of my house at first. It was a nice video and great that you had the skills to build one for your dad.
Great job building the ramp. Glad you were able to build it for your Dad. Prayers for your Dad. He looked like he could handle it pretty good by himself. Take care and stay safe out there. GOD BLESS Y'ALL.
I like the trick you used to find the bottom angle It’s the second time I’ve seen it. The first time was using an expensive measure tool. This method is just as good and uses a commonly owned tool. Love it Thank you
You did great for your dad and he knows it, I just got out if a procedure to save my foot but no weight for 2 months so I needed this to show some friends so they build one for me. I found a used scooter thats better then the wheelchair so maybe he can use something like that.
Hi Mr. Fowler. This is a great video because I'm searching for a ranch house. My Mom is wheelchair bound. I see how anybody can do this. Thanks so much and I hope Dad is doing better. Lots of love.
Awesome thank you so much Hope. I really do hope you got a lot of information out of this and can use it. One thing I would recommend is build a little wider than I did.
Thanks for this how to video! Im preparing to build a ramp for my dad for when he gets home from PT rehab and something like this will work perfectly for the two little steps in the front of the house im just hoping there's enough space to have it so he can get up and down on his own.
The ramp looks great. lucky dad to have someone who can do this for him. angle the edges at the bottom of the ramp so its a smooth transition from ground to ramp. the lip there means your mom or dad might struggle to get on to the ramp. this is good to know i've had people ask me how to do it. what with me being in a wheelchair i guess that means i know how to do things (right leg amputee myself) i understand how your dad felt after the fall i've done the same thing with my prosthetic. not a good feeling to be all bruised up. i hope he's doing ok. it must feel weird to him to be stuck in a wheelchair and not wear his leg.
@@FowlerFamilyFarm So very sorry to hear about your dad's stage 4 cancer ! My husband Jay passed away 4 1/2 years ago with stage 4 stomach cancer. He was in the hospital 2 1/2 weeks and passed away. We were married almost 38 years. Prayers and hugs for your dad and all of you. Love Mary
Thank you so much for this. I’m going to try to do something like this for my daughter. The only tool I have is a drill, so I think I’m going to have to have Home Depot cut the boards if they will. But I was wondering if you did make a video or could explain how to make those bumpers on the side because I live in Connecticut and these are going to be outside Where there’s snow and sometimes I almost slide off the ramps that we have because they’re too thin and they have no edges
Actually I didn’t but we did build it again and made it 2 feet wider. Now my dad can’t do any of this on his own so we take him down the ramp ourselves
I'm very impressed with your skills, my hubby is going to be seeing this and hearing how he hasn't done this for me lololol I've been in and out of my chair for a year now. It's difficult getting the chair in and out the front door.
Thank you so much for this video. I too, am in need of a wheelchair ramp, but mine would have to be outside leading to my front door, which is a 36-inch wide front door. I also have one step to get onto the outside concrete small porch, and then another small step up at the door to my living room floor. About 5 feet would have to be extended into my front yard if my ramp is 9 feet long. My husband just had heart surgery & is not allowed to lift anything, so we are going to have to have someone build this for us. We both have wheelchairs, but if I had a ramp, I could get in the house by walking up the ramp just using my cane or walker, & it would be so much easier. What state are you located in? Thanks again for the video.
continue what I was saying before this ramp is way too long for the suit my purpose it has to be way shorter but the steepness needs to be the same so yeah so that it the person doesn't face too much of a Down angle so frustrating
I am frustrated because I can't find a TH-cam video that designs a ramp that's close to what I need to build we have a family room and it's a sliding door that opens then there's a steep step what I mean by steep is that when you take your step it's very low step it's a very tall step so we have a box there I wouldn't box that was there when we moved to this place about 30 years ago but I need to fix it to make it handicap accessible the first step is very Steep and then the second step is a brick step and it's a half circle step and then the final step that's not a very steep a very high step but the first one is like the expression goes watch for that first step it's a Lulu so I need to build a ramp but I'm frustrated and how would I build it it can't be long and it can't be steep I considered building a shorter step that goes not so low and then the ramp would start from there but I don't know if that would work it has to pass through an ihh inspection to be accessible and for my mom to be able to climb down the ramp without any problems that's why it can't be steep so I don't know how to what I'm going to do to build this ramp I might have to make some kind of cardboard model or something to get an idea what I'm going to be building so I'm pretty much frustrated at this time
I know you don't know me but, you are one awesome son.. I really hope God blesses you..

Thanks for watching!
Protractor not a compress
I think the tool is a protractor. Prayers for your dad❤️🙏
Yep I think thats it thanks Gale
Thank God you have the ability to be able to build a ramp most people have to get someone to build for them 👍👍👍👍👍

Badly. Should have got someone in to do a decent job.

The tool is a protractor which measures angles; a Compass draws circles.

To get angle, 14/108= .1296296
Inv tangent equals 7.38°
I would have put the 2x6 along the string and trace the angle
The basic name is a Protractor. What you have is a Swing-arm Protractor.
Remember Myke measure twice cut once, lol
Haha nope I usually cut twice
Hope you got my text. Thank you for being there for mom and dad
