I loved the quirkiness of Wild Mountain Thyme. I totally got the humor . It reminded me of my Irish relatives . I watched it three times to catch every comment. Also on a different note, When the pandemic began, I watched nine seasons of the Office in one weekend . I had only seen bits and pieces of it before. I watched it in order and Jim and Pam were my favorites

There's a whole country full of actresses who look and sound like Middleton. Blunt doesn't have to be the only choice. Having said all that they won't do a Middleton story.

The director of Wild Mountain Thyme said ‘it’s not for Irish people.’ We are not easily offended but what’s hurtful is the fact that in a time when we are becoming more away of the harmful effects of cultural appropriation and stereotyping, people are just waving away Irish people who are genuinely saying they don’t like how this movie portrays Ireland. I personally don’t think it’s ok to just be like “oh it’s a fantasy version of Ireland” because it’s not. It’s set in Ireland, playing on stereotypes that we are stupid and backwards. I love the cast, so it’s just a shame they didn’t do a more real Irish romantic comedy

It absolutely was unique, not just with the two main characters and their personalities, but with things like the long kitchen scene conversation that lasted around a half hour. Can't recall another movie in the last few decades that had a scene and conversation that long between two people. It was different and a pleasure to watch.

The film is based on a play called outside Mullingar and the film is shot in mayo.I don't know about westmeath ,but certainly if they used the accent that my older mayo relations had no one outside ireland would understand and moreover people from outside the county would be complaining that we don't speak like that in the way that the Healyreas get lambasted for the way they speak.

This movie feels like a contractual obligation. Just the way the actors talk about it I feel like they know its a bad movie. Jamie from NI and Emily from England must know this movies is a terrible stereotypical almost Disney version of Ireland and Irish people. The director said it wasn't made for Irish, ie it was made for Irish Americans looking for something nostalgic and wistful based on stories from the old country told by their great grand parents. Meh
StarMonkies Lad what the english know about ireland can be written on a match box ,sounds like a generalisation but only have to look at brexit where even high level politicians knowledge about ireland was sadly lacking and from my own experience its seems to be reflected in the general populace.
I loved the movie and have Irish heritage. I paid attention to the story and the conversations, not the accents. The half hour kitchen conversation in the latter part of the movie was brilliant. You could take any country and say one particular movie doesn't represent the overall nation. That's true for the US, in a huge way. An inner city movie set in Philadelphia would be miles different from a movie set in ranch area out West, with neighbors miles away, or a movie set in an Appalachian small town. There are areas of the U.S. that don't have cell towers. Every country has a wide range and no movie represents a nation, just a story of a few people.
i love you emily but this is horrendous...we have 100's of amazing actors that could have played that part...NOBODY in ireland speaks like that...NO-ONE....its embarrassing.....
