Watching this beautiful, sensuous movie was like being inside one of Renoir’s paintings…the majestic scenery, the vibrant colours, the transient people and the evocative music. Well done. Thank you.
I was reading about him in mini biography and I didn't even know he had Rhemotoid Arthiritis when he was still working at the age of 83 years of age. Trust me I would be weeping and depressed. Biography of Renoir must get. 🙂🦉
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Masterful film 10/10 It is a visual poem especially for the art direction and photography; I think it perfectly shows the neatness and natural beauty of French cinematographic aesthetics (very similar to Russian cinematography). Perhaps I would have liked the script to have more in common with Renoir's interiority and thought. Sometimes I felt that he was a secondary character, lacking protagonism and more depth in the discourse of his work, but I think it was beautiful to relive his last years of life since that revealed and confirmed in me once again that the passion of those of us who are artists is more powerful than any physical or mental limitation. I think it is wonderful that until the end of our existence we can find ourselves creating without caring about anything. Once again I think that art gives meaning and value to life. The locations are truly divine; They are a reminder of how Renoir saw life, the color palette, the light and how he could transform everyday moments into a sublime work. It is also very beautiful to see the passive way in which time passes. The film seems slow but it is sinuous like a poem. You can feel that each scene is like the fresh wind of the French countryside and you certainly see why the master's paintings seem to never stop flourishing no matter how much time passes. I love watching movies by my beloved masters in the arts and Renoir certainly needed to have a space in the cinema. Because of movies like this on a visual level, I also studied art direction for film and television because I believe that in everything that is possible for us artists should leave poetry. Renoir's works evoke in me: //Anything can be glorious and flourishing but profound beauty needs time//
Great film! Loved the story and the flow felt like a Renoir painting! The only inaccurate thing that stood out to me was Claude “Coco”. He wasn’t a teenager and was likely a toddler. Also, he wasn’t Pierre-Auguste’s son and was his grandson. Overall I liked this film!
"Coco" was indeed the youngest son of Pierre August Renoir. There is another Claude Renoir who was the son of Pierre, Renoir's eldest son and thus was Renoir's grandson.
