    Thank you so much for this review. I was already interested in these libraries for some time, and your video made me try the Contrabassoon. It's fantastic! It loads into Kontakt 7 without any problems, and it has legato in 4 dynamic layers. The sound is not entirely dry, as you can hear early reflections of a small room. And the most important thing is that it has vibrato AND nonvibrato samples. So, no wobbly low Bb.

    Thank you for the video Cory. Very informative! I've been aware of these for a while but, like you, I was unable to find much information about them which is why I ultimately never purchased them. I may have to seriously reconsider that now. Part of me is holding on to my wallet for CSW... but on the other hand, these do sound very tempting. That community patch seems especially useful, seems very playable and would reduce my track count immensely.

    How much do you use the Westgate Woodwinds after Cinematic Studio Woodwinds came out? I don't have either, and I'm thinking about picking up the Westgate solo flutes and oboe.

    I like these libraries. They're also lightweight. Don't forget to convert them to .ncw first!
    They work great with added reverb. Add altiverb to them and it's a phenomenal sound.

      Such as? Name one without having the need of the Breath Controller or your Berlin Woodwinds Teldex Stage in your way.. I could only think one, Chris Hein Winds and even so. The only thing missing in the library are key switches. But they even made a re vamp add-on to make it easy on users who have libraries like this one. Link below

    This is the first I've heard of this library. Similar to VSL's Yamaha CFX solo piano, this collection sounds like it can handle the demands of a classically-oriented concert piece. Other libraries I've heard fall short of that.

    I think the main reason why these are unknown is that they came out after VSL had put out their big WW library and they were deep sampled with legatos and they were really great. So it made little sense to buy those because people into orc. library already had VSL WW. Plus a lot of new, better and exiting strings, brass, etc were coming out so it made more sense to buy those. I thought the company was dead until i found them on big fish a few weeks ago. Glad their still up but disappointed that the bundle are GS only. But one could buy those and translate to kontakt? Should work OK. Not sure about the leg script thou. Am i crazy enough to attempt this? I hope not...

    • @CoryPelizzari
      @CoryPelizzari  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may want to ask around on VI Control about that. I think it's nuts that Big Fish don't just bundle the Kontakt libraries same as the Gigastudio versions. It's very anti-customer.

    • @MustacheVerra
      @MustacheVerra 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CoryPelizzari I was around when they came out and i think my previous explanation hold. It's just a matter of bad timing imo. I'm thinking they probably got stuck with these old giga DVD versions and want to get rid of them 1st. Also, i think I'm gonna go for their rare ww for sure at that price.

    • @Grinder-one
      @Grinder-one 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MustacheVerra I was considering this too...I often build my own patches out of most library's because often, the devs include so much scripting, reverbs and EQ's etc that a simple patch takes more CPU than an advanced synth. I often build my own patches and use 3rd party scripting to create decent sounding legato that uses very little CPU.
      Anyway, I was wondering that if the supplied samples are in wav format which I imagine they are for that period, then if they carry the same name as the Kontakt equivalent, for example 'Clarinet_solo_c3_mf', then surely if you obtain the community patches and just point it to the samples....all would be well ?
      Of course I'm just pondering but, I'm tempted to find out.

    • @MustacheVerra
      @MustacheVerra 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Grinder-one They should be wav files. I'd be shock if not. As for the rest i don't know. Maybe Cory could answer that? But i know some times these have really weird names... Good luck

    • @Grinder-one
      @Grinder-one 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MustacheVerra Yea, ignore the wierd name bit, I made it sound confusing. My point was, once you create the final samples, say in wav format, the dev surely is then going to use those samples for whatever format they distribute....they're not going to create new samples for gigastudio, they would just load the same ones in so on that reckoning, they should all be the same wav's with the same name.
      Anyway, I've bought the flute bundle and the Oboe so it'll have to wait but what was interesting is, all the flutes came as solo instruments for download so I'm wondering that if I buy the Clarinet bundle...will the case be the same...I'm also thinking of contacting BigFish directly and asking !

    8dio Woodwinds are still one of the best imho. Still not perfect but have the most realistic sound of all the available woodwind plugins right now.

    • @CoryPelizzari
      @CoryPelizzari  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's just another flavour. Realistic is a very loose term considering how a lot of libraries these days are totally convincing with the right composer.

    • @nandoflorestan
      @nandoflorestan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally disagree that 8Dio woodwinds are a good option. They have expression baked in so they are a one-trick pony. Further, there's hardly a note longer than 9 seconds in them. Nearly useless, in fact.
