The M must have the best views of any streetcar line in America. I remember riding thru Twin Peaks Tunnel back in the 70's in PCC cars with open windows. That was a fun ride. And Forest Hill was kinda spooky -- dimly lit and musty smelling.
That's so cool! I think the J Church takes the cake for the most scenic line due to the right-of-way section and the view you get at Dolores Park, but the M is still pretty good

Do you need to press a button if you want to get off on the next stop? Or its automatic even though nobody is getting off and on the train?
It depends on what the driver lets you do; sometimes all doors will open automatically and other times passengers have to push the button.
All stops in the tunnel are automatic. Usually, if someone doesn't request a stop on a stop outside the tunnels, then the train will skip that stop.
In the tunnels it's always gonna stop, above ground it's not gonna stop unless you press a button. Sometimes it depends on the driver too
