      I think in the UK, osteopaths are not considered physicians because they don’t go through medical school. As compared to US osteopaths who go through medicinal school and pass board exams.

    Does this type of specialty doctor treat chronic pain? I have spinal stenosis that causes lower extremity nerve pain and cramps in my feet.
    I’ve been dealing with is since 2012 and I’m on nerve meds and pain meds. From time to time I get epidurals to give me a 6 to 8 week relief.
    Ok, so I am kind of a mess.
    I have albinism ( I have no pigment ) and I’m legally blind due to no pigment. It takes pigment to help develop a normal eye. Since I was developing in the womb without pigment it caused a part of my eye to under develop. It also effects my optic nerve. My eyes twitch all by themselves. This is because I cannot focus.
    So, going back to my spinal stenosis, I can’t drive due to being legally blind . I walk everywhere. This pain has caused me not to walk as often.
    I would love to hear what you think or what your opinion is.’
    Thank you!!!❤️

    Hi Jenny! The timing of this video is perfect, I was just finalizing my personal statement. Learning about OMT is one of the reasons I became interested in Osteopathic Medicine bc I would like to practice medicine over seas, and OMT would be the perfect tool in areas with limited medical resources.
    My question is can OMT be utilized in the field of og/gyn, and common women's health complaints like UTIs, pelvic pain due to cramps or endometriosis, etc? Also any resources, including yourself, where I can learn even more about the applications of OMT?? I work in a ob gyn office as an MA, and prescribing medications is a common mode of treatment for patients... Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for sharing! My 4 month old is seeing an osteopath for her head shape and tongue tie. She also prefers one side. I’ve noticed after three treatments she is sleeping with her head in a different position - which is huge for her. Unfortunately, I was never able to get her to latch due to the tongue tie and despite doing body work with a chiropractor. I really wish I had known about OMT earlier!

    Hi Jenny, I have a question. Could a student who graduates with an MD do a DO residency? Are you in an osteopathic residency? I am only guessing if there is any residency like that.

    • @drjennale
      @drjennale  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! With the merger all MDs and DOs apply to the same residencies. Some programs will apply for osteopathic recognition whiles others will not. We had a couple MDs apply to our program but that would also mean that they are open to learning OMT during their residency training.

  • @xiaoliulaile
    @xiaoliulaile 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Here we go, the confession time. So I remember the video where i saw you just had your son and started your residency, you said to all audiences that you were going to take stairs and cut sugar in your diet so that you could get back to shape. At that moment, i was like this woman was lying. If i were her, i would kill myself instead of getting in front of camera and telling people what your plan was. Because i would be too frustrated to face myself, rather than come up with a plan and go through. Apparently you made it! And apparently you are such an awesome doctor mother and wife. This is too inspiring and motivating. Idk what else to say Jen, hat off and thunderous applauses.

    "chiropractors think that everything originates in the spine and just fixing the spine will fix your ailments/illness"
    As a chiropractic student, I can say that this is not 100% accurate across all chiropractors. There are chiropractors who are "vitalist" and believe more so in that way of thinking about the spine. However, there are also chiropractors that are evidence based doctors who also believe in both viscerosomatic and somatovisceral causes much like you do.
    I would actually like to know what the differences are between a DO and a DC because from what I know, the main difference is that DO's are trained more like MD's (going into hospitals, rotations, pharmacotherapy, etc). Perhaps you could make a video addressing the differences between DO's and DC's??

    • @drjennale
      @drjennale  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A.T Still, MD founded osteopathy which is based on practicing medicine under a holistic philosophy (read more about the 4 tenets in the description box). DD Palmar was a student of A.T Still. After one year, he dropped out of medical school and founded chiropractic. That’s why their philosophy of the body’s ability of self heal and self regulate are very similar.
      DOs are equal to MDs. Only difference is that we learn OMT and we practice under a different philosophy.

    • @kilikngo
      @kilikngo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      a quick google can show you a lot of differences in the training of DO vs DC. Not to start a war, but DOs are medical doctors who go to medical school and take medical licensing exams, and also go through residency training before they are licensed to practice.
