Paradise found in Elche. (Huerto Del Cura Gardens)

We leave Torrevieja and head to the town of Elche to visit The Huerto del Cura (in Valencian, Hort del Cura ) a botanical garden located in the city of Elche , in the province of Alicante , ( Spain ).
The garden covers an area of approximately 13,000 m², densely planted with palm trees. It is home to around 1,000 palm trees, mostly date palms.
In addition to palm trees, plants from Mediterranean gardens grow here, such as pomegranates , jujubes , orange trees , fig trees and lemon trees , to which plants of subtropical origin and a collection of cacti have been added over time.
This garden (in Elche a plot of land with palm trees is called a garden) owes its name to the chaplain José Castaño Sánchez , who was its owner until 1918.
It is the most important garden in the complex called Palmeral de Elche , declared a World Heritage Site in 2000.
