    Few points to add
1)it also depends on your income. Even if one wants to buy a car, better to buy a car which is of very less cost than the income.
    2) Also it is important to understand that the above comparison is for 6 lakh rupees car. As the price increases, the number of kms required to get back money increases.
    3) Maintenance of second hand car is more than first hand car most of the time.
    4) Uber/ola cost and availability varies based on demand.
    5) you can upgrade your car for every ride in ola/uber.not possible with own car.
    6) everyone in house should know car driving if want to utilize car fully. Most of the time, only one person knows it so if he is not available you can't use car. Especially elder people.
    7) if you want to go outstation by train, bus or aeroplane you have to use ola/uber to drop you. Own car won't help.
    8) business people get depreciation benifit in income tax which needs to be considered
    9) ola/uber is a great concept based on sharing model. It reduces number of vehicles on the road reducing road congestion. We have small roads in India and mostly poor public transport. Hope to see more growth in coming future.

OLA/UBER can't be considered as primary option. They may be a secondary option. Don't forget about crime committed against women by cab drivers. But in the end, it all depends on daily/monthly running. BTW there is saying in hindi 'Apni gaadi ka to maja hi kuch aur hai'

I bought 2nd hand Hyundai accent GLE 2008 single owner with all basic amenity, and a great build quality, I spent only 8k for interiors reconditioning. I spend 2k for fuel every month since I drive only 300 kms per month. I don't have to spend a fortune maintain it since spare parts are dirt cheap. I pay only 2k as EMI since I took a personal loan to buy the car at 10.9% interest. So overall I spend 4k in month and that too my company pays me 4.4k for fuel allowances so summing it up I drive for free.

    Great video sir,
I want to add some more points.
It is good to use Ola Uber saves money on buying car and also on parking space, maintenance, driver.
Also in country where people doesn't have place for shelter, to walk freely on footpaths and traffic jam for public transportation and at other side we use lot of space for private car parking. So it is good if number of private vehicles get reduced.
Also it is good for environment as it reduce pollution due to traffic by some percentage and saves resources in making of car.
In residential societies car parking is one of the reason for no space to play kids and plant trees as space is concretise for parking purpose which also affects rain water absorption affecting groundwater in cities.

Major thing is, you haven't considered fuel cost for 500km as per Rs. 5/km.
    So it should be 500x5=2500+10000
So final calculation should be 12500/500 = Rs. 25/km Not Rs. 20/km.
    🤗
    Thanks

Sir if I travel 2 or 3 times a week then ola, Uber is the best option. Sharing is always the best one it saves lot of money. But if we purchase our own car we pay in Lakhs which is a huge cost, plus parking charges, maintiance, petrol, car towing, breakdown, scratches, accident cost, insurance, driver cost, any unknown expenses, wrong parking charges, car is submerged during heavy rain...but owning your car makes you feel comfortable while travelling..

If you are calculating maintenance and fuel charges then simply you should not buy a car..opt for ola uber or two wheeler like scooty etc. Buying a car is not worth it in any of the metros as you won't be able to drive it around due to crowd and parking problems. you will have to wait for an hour to park in a Mall on weekend, there are not enough road side parking.
Only use of car for you will be going out of town tours.

Hi Mukul...in the first 5 yrs no body actually faces an issue..as u said AC repair and all...plus tyre change is required once in 5 years which cannot be considered every year. For the first 3 years maintenance fixed cost cannot be 15 k. Plus 6 lakh car of a petrol version is 15 years, and shall not be assumed to be sold in 3 years with 50 percente depreciation....
I do like your channel and all are videos are informative, but this one is little ambiug .

Not practical calculation, maintenance 15k/year for 6L car, not at all. FordEcoSport get serviced in less than 5k and in year we have to do service 2 times. And we can't depend Ola/Ubar for our daily drive. And what about urgency?

Only one factor I see to buy your own car. I can share my story, my 4 years old daughter was very sick and crying bcoz of stomach pain at 2 Am in night and it was very heavily raining and I was coordinating with ola uber drivers to go to hospital. Every one was keep on cancelling the rides. I was feeling very helpless that night. My daughter and wife were waiting for me.
My suggestion for everyone, if your budget supports, buy a new brand car no matter how small it is, keep it maintained with care for 10-11 years. Emergency comes without notice

Thanks for making this video, however my friend the rate per km for ola/ober considered here is incorrect, the pricing is nothing less 20 per km and can go even more higher for peak hour travel.
The other thing which is wrongly assumed here, that more than 15 year old car will fetch zero valuation.
For me it still makes sense to buy car

Majority of cars will have single occupant . Government should look into this issue. This is the major concern for traffic Jam in Bangalore. Later they start complaining about Traffic issues in Bangalore.
