Today I'm going to attempt to solve this level 10, Hanayama Puzzle, aptly named NUT CASE! The goal here is to take apart the bolt and remove the nuts and then put it all back together again.

My Dad would have loved this (rest his soul). He was a tool and die maker so these things were his blood and soul ....threads within a thousandth of an inch. We use to buy him a couple of puzzles for Christmas each year. Your video and tenacity bring back great memories!

Ya then he al of a sudden comes up with the answer super clear and won’t let it go... almost as if he looked it up and is acting as if he thought of it... usually he moves last a idea that isn’t working fairly quickly instead he wouldn’t abandon this idea...
You can see the actual time up on the top of the phone screen. It actually matches with the timer

Imagine making this without being able to be pulled apart and just put "Puzzle" in its name
you won't read this comment, but the puzzle is actually easy now that you've seen it taken apart. if you look at the bolts when they're disassembled, one side is wide and the other side is narrow. two of the seams on the outside are fake seams. so there is really just a sweet spot, but if you can figure out the orientation with the nuts being close to the heads of the bolts, it will slide apart every time. luckily imperfections in metal casting and CNC make it easy to feel for the play. just like lock picking.

This was by far one of my favorites you've done besides the broken radio puzzle. Tinker puzzles are the ultimate fidget toy to me, so watching you do them is like second hand relaxation. You could have not solved it, and I'd still love watching you spin the bolts around. Keep it up man.

you have not fully solved the puzzle. on the instructions it states that the other part to the puzzle (other than freeing the nut) is to assemble it back so it says case nut instead of nut case
Interlocking clue was really good. Took me like 5 mins to understand what the hell was happening and like 1 hour taking it apart because for some reason I thought the nuts aligned with the main "cracks".
I got the concept of taking it apart and put it together really quickly but then took me fucking ages to get it right because of the misalignment they have to unlock it. Pissed me off so much...

It's amazing how differently we all view things, and seeing things through another's view. I enjoy how you give a us insight on your thought process. I'm so not good at these type of puzzles, but enjoy your videos very much.
I just found this at a thrift store, so I decided to go for it. I’ve never done any puzzles like this before, so it took me about a damn day.
And that’s after watching this video!
It really is a good one, definitely one of those you can do over and over again, even knowing the answer, & it’s still difficult. That is... if you ever want to do it again.
My first Hanayama Puzzle was the Labyrinth. Took me a few hours to solve

If you’re familiar with lock picking, tensioning and binding order, I feel this puzzle will be easy. I’m at 11 min into the video so we’ll see.

Took me 4 hours to solve. Main problem was I somehow got the nut crossed over the threads and couldn't move them anymore.
Not sure why but your videos make me feel better when I don't feel well.
My husband spent days on this when we first got it. At the time I was having horrible anxiety, and pulling myself off the ridiculous meds they gave me for it. And tried edibles for the first time. No joke he tossed it at me and said he'd order pizza if I got it open. Took me about 20mins. I couldn't get it back together though. Granted I'm pretty good with these, we have quite a few. The NEWS one was another I got in about 45mins.
You gotta try the hanayama "NEWS" puzzle! It's fairly impossible haha. Also I was gonna buy this puzzle! But maybe I'll go for something else! ; ) love your vids dude!

You have to get this one EXACTLY in the right spot. Even when you think you've got it right, you doubt yourself because it has to be so perfect in its positioning.
Very clever with it being small enough not to slide all the way apart in one go though.

Chris mechancial engineering can cover a lot. Design, analysis, manufacturing, electromagnetic, hydraulics, thermal etc. I transitioned to RF engineering and its more challenging but not as "fun".

Took me about 45 minutes but finally cracked it. I like the idea of timing yourself. Adds another layer of urgency.

He took almost an hour. I did it in about 30 minutes, and I lined the nuts up the right right way so they just slid apart, unlike hime where he had to line them up again. And then take them to the opposite ends.
