I remember helping with her. I miss that old bird. Thank you for including me in restoring her.

This is super awesome, I'm gonna have to watch all of these videos now. My grandfather Capt. John W. Miser was a B-17 Pilot / Captain during WW2. He also claimed to be the youngest B-17 captain but that was an unofficial title since he falsified his paperwork to say he was 18 when he joined but was really 15. He dropped Bombs over Europe and notably in Germany which is funny because he was a second generation German American. He had a funny story about how on the last mission he flew him and his crew stayed up all night drinking and continued to drink the whole flight and got so drunk they bombed a beer brewery thinking it was a weapons plant and the next day the Germans gave up saying they can't fight without beer. Unfortunately he didn't talk about his time in the war very much but I do have one of his dogtags and know he was a B17 captain and retired VP of American Airlines.
Hope you enjoy my grandpa's story, much love
    - Josh Miser

The last time I saw Starduster she was that awful green and didn't have her plexiglass nose. You all did a fine job on her.

Thank you for watching and helping us preserve history. It took 130 hours of pressure washing to prepare to paint.

Once it’s not in triple digits, we will clean her up. Right now the water drys before the dirt is removed. Good eye

Right now maybe a half a dozen still air worthy. Hope they had enough flight suits for all his staff up there at 30,000+ feet and -50+F.

I rode in "Aluminum Overcast", the EAA B-17, in 2012. What a wonderfully exciting ride. And as you are flying...that's quite a view, eh?

A plane w/that much "Different" History is Hard to display. I personally would like to see it represent the Generals Command Plane. There are plenty of B-17's in Combat form. The meat hauling/Cargo door bit is interesting but was here 2nd life.

We chose to keep the overall look of the Generals plane. The guns are what make it a true B-17. The door is Kept close, but it history. The marking are all General Ira Eaker’s plane as it was in WWII

How is the condition of the Starduster? Is she in a desert of sorts, for long term preservation?
