Amazing Day on Pittsburgh's Allegheny River (Bass Fishing October 2022)

- Decided to take the day off and instead of fishing one of my local ponds I would try the three rivers particularly the allegheny in the fall. Figured the bass would be feeding up for winter and it would be a great chance to catch a lot of river smallies but I am absolutely blown away with the quality of fish I caught

Those are some awesome catches!! I’m over in Ohio and a big one on my river is 3.5lb, but I’ve seen multiple 5’s and one that had to be 7-8lbs. So I’d imagine for it only being your 3rd trip there and you catching those toads there’s gotta be some monsters.

Fun facts, kvd won on a 20 year old smithwick rogue, Evers had big bass with a 1-15, and it was the 3rd time in 4 years that Aaron martens finished second in the classic.

Can I ask you. What crank baits did you use? What’s the diving depth? And how deep was the water you were catching them in?
so that Crankbait is a Rapala DT4. which stands for dives to 4 feet. and I was fishing the bank anywhere from 2-8 foot deep
@@jodonfishing5609 I have the 4, 6, 8. Do you find that 4 is as effective in 6 abd 8 feet with fish on the bottom?
@@chadgregorini5038 if I'm constantly in 8 foot of water then I'm prob going to switch to the dt6. I don't have a lot of confidence in the 8 yet. but I really like the 4 in cold water on the river. so if I can get away with it and get bit im going to throwing it

Hey man. I have a derb coming up there in a. Few weeks. I'm headed out this weekend to look around. Is it decently easy / safe to get around in my 21ft stratos? Think we are in pool 9
Yeah it’s safe just use common sense
@jodonfishing5609 common..... sense?? Not sure I have much of that when fishing a tournament .. lol. Especially when I look back and wonder what the heck I was thinking that particular day...... lol. Trying to push a particular pattern or something like that. More stubborn than lack of common sense im sure!
The Allegheny river is where I've caught my biggest smallmouth and biggest musky it an amazing smallmouth fishery

I’m about to go fishing tmrw with my buddy across from the point on the Allegheny do you think I’ll catch anything or should I go to a different place?
I’m not sure where the point is, not fimilar with the river honestly. But I have seen a lot of pics of some nice fish being caught on the rivers.

Allegheny has a lot more 3 plus pound fish then you think. Best of the three rivers.

I don't have two many spots on the three rivers and maybe one day we can arrange that. I am currently without a truck so there's no towing my boat anywhere right now lol. tight lines!
