    I met Greg Ham after a show in Vegas around the fall of 2000. He came out of the venue, and I had him sign a CD jacket, and he was one of the most down-to-earth people I've ever met. He was unassuming, humble, and candid. Hearing how he died is tragic indeed, and I hope he is at peace.

    TODAY marks the 2nd anniversary of Greg Ham's death.
    It's so goddamn tragic what happened to Greg...never
    should have happened to such a sweet guy and a
    phenomenal talent! RIP Greg, you were one of the
    very best!!

      Indeed, he was the Brian Jones of Men at Work as a super-talented multi-instrumentalist and I want to weep for what happened to him. RIP Greg, you are sorely missed.

    Extraordinary and talented Musician brought much joy through the Music, i don't think Men
    At Work would have sounded as bright without Greg Ham, he made it work on a higher and genuinely original level that i for one can't tire of listening to from time to time since being delighted by their 1st album back in the 80's.

    In my opinion, this band's sound was as original in the 1980s as The Beatles were original back in the 1960's.

    Copyright-infringement lawsuit begat Greg's passing. He was extremely upset that people would remember him as someone who stole something. I have heard "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree." It doesn't sound like the flute riff in Down Under to me. And even if it did, the writer of the song never sued. He was a huge talent. I'm sorry that happened to you, Mr. Ham.

    • @aprilgosa5779
      @aprilgosa5779 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @robf6105 He also felt very guilty like he brought that onto the band and his best friend Colin Hay though Colin did not feel that way and did not blame him Colin Hay wrote that song before Men at Work were a thing the flute solo came later and even the judge must have thought it was outrageous since the judge only awarded 5% to the label yeah the writer did not sue the band a record label did but it bit them back as that label went out a while later

    Great band! Business as Usual was the album i ever bought (aged 11) and i still listen to it regularly. The melodies, musicianship, lyrics and tone all superb - i get their cynicism in their lyrics more now as an adult, but they were so different to what my friends were listening to back in 1982/83 ( hello 80s haircut bands)

      No, just those three, the last of which is sadly without the original rhythm section. Mind you they could have split right after the debut and it would not have diminished their legacy, such is the strength of that album.

    Greg fell victim to a nasty system of greed, thats what happened to him. We now live in a world where Money is (for some) considered more important than life. They accused him of plagiarism over the flute Riff from "Down under"... it was pure BS. Just some bloodsucker out for Money. He lost his house and it pushed him over the edge.

      Nobody is tarnishing Greg or his name most of us feel horrible about what happened to him and to those who cared for Greg Colin Hay his best friend is one of them that stupid lawsuit brought a lot of pain to especially Greg he felt guilty about bringing that on to his bandmates and friends eventhough it was not his fault and nobody especially Colin blamed him the song Down Under was written by Colin before Men At Work was even a thing the flute part was added later it was said Greg just randomly came up with it in his head the songwriter if the song about the bird in the tree is not even the one who sued the band members the label was who I guess felt like that the song was theirs as labels often do you know screw the people who wrote this it belongs to us mentality John Fogerty had to go through the same thing when he was sued because one of his solo songs "sounded too much like a CCR song well yeah they would be similar since he wrote and sang both of them that cost him a lot of money to fight as it did Colin Hay to fight that suit but it also the way he out it cost me my best friend because Greg went into a dark space I don't know how long it was between the lawsuit and his death but yeah he was right that cost him more than his money it cost him his best friend on top of the guilt Greg was feeling like he was gonna be known from then on as the guy who plagarized someone's song and not for his own acheivements and accomplishments which is not true he will be remembered for what he was and did that stupid lawsuit won't even be considered to those who really love the music and sure by the ones closest to him so don't worry his name will never be tarnished

    i don't think this band paid full dues....they were thrust very quick on the worldwide stage...some bands slum for a decade before a break through...the saxophone was not fully utilized by the band...they could have work synchronicity with the guitar instead of some shitty sax lines....Imagine stochastic guitar and soprano sax...both through pedals..instead we get ...doot doot dah doo dah doot doot dah doo dah..
