The simple answer is that Americans don't want to pay what something is worth. The stingy and corrupt attitudes of American coin buyers is simple arrogance. It is strictly because people don't want to accept the correlation between the actual price of gold and silver to realize that some one ounce coins cannot be sold for the low prices counterfeit coins are sold for. I see numerous eBay sellers with multiple red flags offering 2023 or 2024 silver eagles delivered for less than spot silver prices.
@@rustybritches6747 I'm not going to let swindlers off the hook, ever, but I do get what you mean. It's pretty easy to spot, honestly. You had several signs of a fake just on the slab with the hologram being jank and the front logo being smudged and then when you look up the coins in the database they are clearly not the same coins. GG EZ
This is why it's important to take your time and look at what you're buying. If you're wanting to collect and just starting out find a trustworthy dealer and buy from them and look at lots of coins you like to learn what you're doing
As a newbie who has no 1 ounce coins and only bought one package of 1/10 ounce junk silver, this makes me sad… and I pray whoever is purchasing any of these.. or any type in general, really does their research. Thank you for sharing this. If I came across this, I would’ve never known this was fake.
The fact one of the alleged coins had a green tint on it, would probably indicated it contains copper, as copper oxide is the green patina you see on aged copper sheet, etc.. This could be determined with an XRF machine. A device for analysing metallic composition. Often used in gauging what region metals originated, as different locations/mining operations have different impurity content.
Another tip when verifying against the grading company photo database, this works more for ngc slabs, and helps with fake modern bullion, pay close attention to the size of the (don't know what they are actually called) prongs that hold onto the coin and the rotation of the coin (where exactly do the prongs touch the coin?).
@@JosephShaffer-o1o Wow, still quite an investment but I suppose if you have a lot of money and spend it on metals regularly it could be worthwhile in the long run.
I assume the slabs themselves have a pretty standard weight, right? Wouldn't it be wise to weigh any slabbed coin (especially gold or silver) and subtract the weight of the slab to see if it weighs what it should? Maybe not a perfect test but another one worth adding to ensure you're getting what you think you are inside the slab.
Damn I’m some what new at collecting and I’ve already been burned on Loose Morgan’s. So I thought I would stick to graded slab coins now I see I can’t even trust those to be real.
Geez thanks, I haven't thought to verify until now. I'm off to check with the issuers. I just hope I don't end up being sorry it's been such a long time since purchasing. It wouldn't give me much satisfaction just knowing who the seller is.
I have been a collector and stacker for a long time and now I am getting scared. The technology to make counterfeit products so "real" is a danger to all industries. A counterfeit coin won't kill but I watched a video where "fake" Ford brake parts were so genuine looking in every way that it took an expert Ford ASE certified mechanic to identify them. A counterfeit coin won't kill you but that may not always be the case. SCARY!
It’s even more fun when it’s a coin that pcgs doesn’t have a picture of. I spotted some fake pcgs CC Morgan’s on eBay. The seller took them down real quick after I mentioned it.
I always tell people to not fall for the infomercials selling coins. I know several people who have been taken to the cleaners buying coins that were 100% fake. ALWAYS buy from a reputable dealer.
What % Silver are those coins ?? Are they magnetic ? Just shows that one must be careful with graded coins and not let the package wrongly influence our perception of the coin itself.

I have the fat man dollar from China but the fake ones have silver in them so unless you know what the silver content is and weight of the coin do your research
I have one of those Chinese Fat Man coins. I scanned it and it also came back good at PCGS with no error message. It is definitely fake. It is not the same coin that’s on PCGS.
any idea if the chips can be faked yet? I have a few holder and from what I have read it seems like it would be very difficult to do, just wondering if you have all seen anything like that yet? PGCS Museum of holders has been helping a ton but I have one slab that is still questionable.
If the grid goes down, we’re gonna be in trouble, when it comes to verification.. and much more. I’m gonna start looking into coin text books, as I begin this journey.. so I have something tangible to verify & learn from.
I don't understand how even the Chinese could invest in making coin dies to make fake coins that only sell for 20 bucks a piece? There must just be so much demand from people in the world apparently make it profitable?
silver is a con mans game..never thought I would say that but JP morgan and the comex intentionally keep the price down..its a waste of time, money and energy..i lost 10 years from this trash

I dont buy chinese anything if I can help it!!! Slabs are ok if you get a good deal, but for the money and security... Rounds and Bars are my favorite and always buy from a trusted source!!
They are plastic cases. They probably bought them from the SAME Supplier since they are buying 1000 X more than the Graders themselves. They only Need one or two coins to work to pay for 1000 plastic cases. And we know FAKE coins are CHEAP! So 5 bucks, a little glue, a crappy copy machine and voila, $2000 dollars please. Not at a shop perhaps but many many people will fall for this. They were testing if they could FOOL the shop here. Arrogant but the workmanship is terrible. Scratches all over the stickers etc.... Now you will TELL them what they need to work on .....and they will get it right next time..
I'd say early adoption AI fakes. They will only get better from here. Best reason to only buy from reputable sources: AND get them to verify, when on site: or supply some type of certificate of verification. Every dealer needs to start this, as a final means of protecting themselves, as well. This would include high res photos, of the metals, inside the capsule. Of course, it would increase premiums.
First clue coin is probably fake: being from China. I mean really, can anyone deny that if it's a rare/valuable item the Chinese will counterfeit it, and if it's a rare/endangered animal the Chinese will eat it? I mean, I know that sounds harsh but can you really deny the truth of the problem? No other country that I know of is nearly as famous for these things.

I saw an 1840 CC seated US dollar on eBay a couple of days ago. For those of you who don't know, the Carson City mint didn't open until 1870.
That means it must be worth a fortune...they made coins even before they officially opened. /s
They rented a storefront before the mint building was completed!! 😂
Awesome catch!!! Many thanks to this coin dealer.
Is it me, or have I seen more fake PCGS slabs, than NGC slabs. Are PCGS slabs easier to counterfeit? And thanks for a great video, SilverDragons!
Thats why its always important to buy from reputable sources and check as soon as bought! 😎
Good info from Eagle eye Mike! Hopefully be seeing him soon.

The extent people will go! Insane
I was offered these exact coins through offer up here in Portland and told the seller the pcgs pictures don't match his coins.

Not surprising, but certainly disappointing to know these are floating around out there. Thanks for the video.
I actually saw one of these fakes for $5 and I was tempted to get it to have an example to compare against in the future
Not a bad idea. I'm a jeweler, and we do that with example lab created gems as an easy comparison against natural genuine gems.
Ya not a bad idea in some ways, but I hate to give them money and encourage them to keep screwing people over.
Time to make the slabs harder to counterfeit.
They can fake Rolex watches now to 95%. A slab is nothing.
Soon they'll realize they can fake the damage of the specific coin on the website.

It’s NEVER FAILED ME YET !!
How much did it cost?
I bought the large one $1,720.00 worth every penny to me . Buy just 1 FAKE 🥸 1 OZ. Gold and you’re out of $2,400.00
You can get the smaller one for about $750

Scammers can probably buy the slabs directly from PCGS’s overseas OEM
If these cases are made in China, they will easily be able to buy them from the manufactuer
