    If someone is unaware of the casting differences you describe I'm not sure they should outlaying this kind of money for a Matchbox; if one is going to spend at that level, they need to do their homework. I distinctly remember Vectis selling one of these blue regular wheel Cortinas as a genuine item back in the mid-aughts . I doubted it at the time; this particular model is very easy to fake, as it comes apart easily and can be put back together without tools or visible damage. A microscopic inspection of the rivet might reveal that, but again, at this price level, people should consider having these cars X-rayed (under supervision of the seller) as a really good fake is almost undetectable.

      Totally agree! I still find it hard to believe the naivety but that's the way some people are. I try to educate but it falls on deaf ears a lot of the time. For rare models its PROVENANCE, PROVENACE, PROVENANCE! My rare models had cast iron back grounds which is why they made such good money. The 25 Cortina in blue with RW is a joke-doesn't exist! G

    Hi Graham I 100 percent believe what your saying I've been collecting and restoring matchbox cars for many years and I can tell if a baseplate has been tampered with as for the blue cortina a blue regular wheels version as far as I know doesn't exist out of curiosity has Eric the eel been prosecuted for fraud he's ruined a lot of nice original cars removing the base's finally I really like your matchbox channel keep up the good work

      Hi Andrew, no the blue Cortina doesn't exist with BPW even though a high profile auction house has sold a couple. Looks like the Eel has got away with it but at least the scumbag has been exposed and buyers are much more wary. I used to have so many arguments with him but now I can clearly prove what he does and he has crawled back into his cesspit! G

    I hope these criminals (Jonkers from NL, Stylianos from Greece) feel the HEAT now. They need to be stopped / give back the money they extorted / get an additional huge fine / have their fakes seized and destroyed. Good call, Graham.

      Yep, I'm doing what I can. These videos need to reach out to more victims so the scummers gut busted. It's a shame they are not my country. Please share our thoughts to as many people you know-the word will get there eventually. Cheers Graham.

    I've seen 2 of these Cortinas with wide superfast wheels and made in Bulgaria on the base, mint condition, fake or real?

    I think the domed roof rivet C can be found on the earliest blue SF Cortina's as a locating lug (so presumably also on the brown SF transition) but another way to check is the boot panel line is raised on the transition and blue superfast but recessed on the brown regular wheel body so the casting was altered before the colour was changed to blue making the blue regular wheel purely fictional. He can't claim it's genuine if Lesney didn't make one themselves.
    Unfortunately my browser won't open Nick Jones web site to double check the info I've given but I have a lot of experience with code 3 and really like your clarity between actual fraud and low cost alternatives stated as not genuine, in my experience as Lesney cast posts with the body and flared the posts only an obvious replacement rivet or screw has any integrity to re-seal the model, that's where the crooks go wrong because Lesney didn't use a rivet, their body casting is one piece and you can't fake that on re-assembly, it's foolish to try when there is a strong code 3 market. Ironically it's the same with teeth.

    • @rockertron
      @rockertron  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep all agreed here. I still haven't found out why they changed the casting line on the boot area so if anybody knows then please share.

    So sir, how can we realize if it's a fake matchbox on ebay ?

    • @rockertron
      @rockertron  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well the main culprit Lesney12345 [Eric Jonkers] from Holland has gone to ground after these posts and a pursuing court case so the fakes have dried up quite a lot. I still know many names of other scum bag fraudsters so if you see anything just email the item and I'll take a look for you. Generally if in doubt then "chuck it out" or if a rare model is too cheap then leave well alone. It's also very easy to do background checks on sellers so check who you are buying from. Always ask provenance-if there is no decent history to the piece then leave well alone. Beware of rare interior colours, these are being made by the fraudster in Greece [Nik-the turd] and transposed into genuine models. These can be hard to spot but again just ask me. G

      @@naufalalfiansyah5112 Sure thing. I got bit this year myself with models made by Nik_stil [the Greek fraudster] via a third party. I agreed a deal with a 3rd party but when I saw them in the flesh I knew they were Nik-the-turd fakes. The scum bag denied, denied, denied even though I had conclusive proof he supplied them! As soon as I showed him the proof he went under a rock and cowered away refusing to answer emails-pathetic! I did get my money back but many haven't. He constantly sells his creations on greedbay and are sold as "restored" but it's what he sells outside of ebay that's the problem. He uses 3rd party scum bags to sell them to unsuspecting victims and takes a cut. I'm afraid there are now many collections riddled with his fakes so don't buy anything rare without proper research. @@rockertron Well it is positive to see him get slowed down, presumably the accounts with less positive feedback will mean he will at least need to curtail his prices. People will still overpay and maybe those who see these too good to be true prices will end up at this or the other video.
