The cackle is the only thing I'll miss! I will always remember the original ride but I'm on board for the new version. It really does tell the true story.
The last thing we need is Disney deciding to revamp the attraction and deciding the hell scene is too scary or inappropriate for modern child audiences
This gives me hope for Pinocchio and Mr toads, and just for Disneyland as a whole. I'm so thankful for how respectful they always are to the classics. They improve, but don't completely change. Thanks for your work! Fresh Baked!
No one really mentions the biggest and best change of this ride - and that's the use of "Someday My Prince Will Come!" The new ending is fantastic but what really makes it for me is the music!
Did anyone else notice the new smells on the ride? In the cottage it smelt like cinnamon and pie, and the scene with all the lights had a smell like jasmine flowers inserted into it.
David, I enjoyed how excited you were over Bambi's practical cameo in the sleeping/kissing scene. Idea for a video. Since Bambi doesn't have his own ride, find all the times he makes appearances in other rides. Maybe more fun than looking for hidden Mickeys.
The only thing I'm sad about is no more apple and cackle, I thought that was so fun! It does make sense, but it was a fun way to enjoy it without even having to ride the ride.
@Kicapu not what I meant. I meant it seems ludicrous to try to adjust a fairy tale (with spells, dwarfs, and enchanted house-cleaning animals) to reality.
Thanks for the detailed comparison. When I first watched the new ride-through, I couldn't really tell what was different, except for the improved ending and it overall feeling a little less scary. They really did an excellent job adding details without changing too much of the overall ride.
@@isaiahvilla6691 not really its projections on a wall and the mirror frame is painted on the wall but when the light and projections are on it the frame is lit up to when it goes dark you can still see the frame outlined on the wall already rode the ride on the 4th
The cauldron scene: they also took the “webbing” off, which was put there in the 1983 refurbishment of the attraction. It was a metal cage to protect the apple. When I was a custodial cast member back in 1989 and frequently swept the attraction just after park close, you could see the apple effect where it started as an apple, and deflated/shrunk to a skull. Allegedly, it was the single most expensive effect in the park back in 1983 due to the equipment needed to inflate and deflate it quickly. It was always tough to see riding past it so quick, and when I last rode it in 2005, the attraction cast member said it had stopped working a few years prior.
I will miss the forest and the skeletons, in the dungeon, but I love the change. After all in the film we see the queens lab a lot, while we only see one skeleton in a cell, during the movie.
The way you comment on everything gives me so much more respect to all of what you do. You yourself are an artist. I appreciate that you also have an ability to break and explain things down. Be proud of what you do sir.
This ride always reminds me of my daughters first visit to Disneyland at 2yrs old she cried on this ride lol. Can't wait to go back on it she is now almost 12 yrs old.
Don't worry, I'll get the stuff you missed. Comparisons are what my channel is bult on. still has a lot of building to go. great video though. some thing that I am surprised you missed though is the silhouette of grumpy in the mine using his pick axe.
I appreciated you doing the before and after prior to the ride opening but SO glad you came back and did it side by side like this! Really loved this and your view on it. Might miss the dark forest a little but not all the 'apple attempts'. They were redundant. Much improved ride now. Thank you.
One of my favorite videos from you! I’m a huge snow fan and also I get nervous about refurbs on some of the OG dark rides. This is the best balance of preserving the history of the ride but making it more modern and advanced. Beautiful! I love the comparison, and there are more changes than I originally realized. That ending though! 😍🙌🏽
I have to point out something I noticed. During the scene where the queen turns into the witch in front of the mirror, there’s an effect around the mirror when she changes, just like the effect around the Coldren with the Apple.
No one does this better than you! Thank you so much. Oh, and Thank you Cast Members, Imagineers and Creators (that's you) for all your hard work! Love and miss you all! Covid kinda took the Park option away for a year two, but it does own space in my Heart. #templemastery
Excellent video, more like this if possible please! Scary Adventure was one of my favourite rides because of the liminal space-type feel, but I am glad they have moved Snow White from the stairs. It would take too many words for me to try and describe why her original position with the candle horrified me so, but it made me feel some type of way whenever I saw it.
Something I haven't seen addreseed yet regarding the updates is whether or not the evil queen remains up in the facade window. That was one of my favorite touches in Fantasyland and I really hope that in an effort to make everything happy- happy, they didn't remove this super cool element. This was an excellent review/presentation, btw! I cannot wait to return!
Thanks for this; I really liked the side by side comparison. I didn’t go on the ride that much as a kid because it was so dark and actually seemed kind of boring; Snow White was barely in it. Now she is quite a bit, and it’s gorgeous. I like all the changes even external to the ride, they totally make it more upbeat, and I’m glad you pointed them out. I remember seeing the Matterhorn under construction from the Santa Ana Freeway as a kid, so the Disneyland is kind of a sacred space, especially the original rides, but I approve of this update! (And bring back the People Mover!)
I see what they were doing towards the beginning of the ride… they got the property brothers over and they busted out the wall between the kitchen and the living room. Open concept is what they were looking for!
Great side by side 👍🏼 It’s easy to miss with a mask on, but did you notice the flower scent in the last scene? We went on 3x Sunday, so by the 3rd ride, I knew it was real lol and my daughter confirmed she could smell it too.it’s a nice touch, I think 😊 🌸 💐
Its good to see this kind of video from you again.Parts of this remind me of the Seven Dwarves Mine car ride at Magic Kingdom .I hope you and Liz expeirence that ride someday. Its one of my favorite Magic Kingdom rides
This is a phenomenal side by side! Thank you for doing this as I couldn't remember what the ride was like before. It's been too long! I haven't been on the new ride yet but I'm looking forward to it! That end scene with all the twinkle lights looks amazing!
Great video, Dave! That's not a sword outside the ride--it's a buck saw. You covered the differences very well! I love everything about the new ride. I can tell that they borrowed some material from the Mine Train ride at Walt Disney World. Yeah, I love it!
maybe in your opinion this was a proper happy ending but I loved the effect of the witch trying to push the bolder onto the dwarfs and how it shows the creepy shadow of the witch falling to her demise behind her as the lighting flashes in the end and of course I took their word for it that it was a happy ending cause you saw the witch fall to her death as she screams when the lighting flashes. plus if we've seen the ending from the movie itself why wouldn't we take their word for it in the first version?
The sword is a saw the dwarves use to saw with, along with the tools in the barrel. (It looked like a sword to me at first too.) It's one of those saws two people use on each side. You can't see the other end. Thank you for this wonderful before and after. Fantastic editing.
David you refer to the dwarves painting as the 'original' finale, but remember the Snow White ride has been redone a few times over the years. It was slightly changed after 5 years, completely torn down and rebuilt in 1982, slightly refurbed in 1994.
Dave, you always do such a great job on these side by side comparison videos. And you have such a positive outlook on things it is why I have been watching you for five years.
Great video, thank you! This is the best upgrade of any ride ever. They really an amazing job with so much respect for the original. I’m also happy this means Snow White isn’t going anywhere! Awesome way to “plus it”
The upgrade was amazing, honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this attraction gets to 30-35 minute wait time like Peter Pan is ( when the parks fully open )
I think this ride needed an update SO BADLY. It needed to make sense. It needed LED lights. It needed more of Snow, and less Evil Witch!!! They did a perfect job of updating and refurbishing, while holding on to the old effects and layout. Good job, Disney.
Your side by side comparison and analysis are fantastic! I hope you can find footage to show us the differences in the pet cemetery at Haunted Mansion too.
I actually think the last version of Snow White at Magic Kingdom might've been the best when it came to re-imagining the ride with a more coherent story and a happy ending, but it's not super surprising because they had more space to work with I think. Still, the happy ending scene here is way more impressive and beautiful than what Magic Kingdom had! The Imagineers did an amazing job.
The "sword" is an old fashion tree saw. The kind you see in cartoons with a person on each side.
The cackle is the only thing I'll miss! I will always remember the original ride but I'm on board for the new version. It really does tell the true story.
The story is actually more cohesive now haha, I wonder if they will ever update Mr Toad's Wild Ride
Stop it
I hope they do because Mr toad needs a revamp
@@BlehBlah88 stop it its fine rode it Tuesday its the best

Well I would actually like it if they made it closer to the film which is charming... Christmas.. more 3-D Winkie and weasels and the riverbank.
Ill miss the scary forest scene but this is a fantastic upgrade
Those trees are still there just covered now with lights and leaves
This gives me hope for Pinocchio and Mr toads, and just for Disneyland as a whole. I'm so thankful for how respectful they always are to the classics. They improve, but don't completely change. Thanks for your work! Fresh Baked!
I didn’t realize the queen was at the top of the mountain animated at the end with the dwarves, they need to make her stand out more wow
I LOVE the scene with Snow and Charming and all the flowers and lights! It’s SO beautiful. I was in awe, I cried!

Did anyone else notice the new smells on the ride? In the cottage it smelt like cinnamon and pie, and the scene with all the lights had a smell like jasmine flowers inserted into it.
I was going to ask if the smells changed when adding new updated?
I’m really liking that they kept the integrity of the ride and basically added to it. The lighting is also fantastic! Disney does it again🎯🎯
David, I enjoyed how excited you were over Bambi's practical cameo in the sleeping/kissing scene. Idea for a video. Since Bambi doesn't have his own ride, find all the times he makes appearances in other rides. Maybe more fun than looking for hidden Mickeys.
@@PeppersGhost I was simply musing that we should call any deer in any attraction Bambi...even though none of them are.
Wow! I have been looking forward to this video since the attraction was closed. You did not disappoint, David. Great job! Disney did it right.
I'm a fan of the changes I've seen so far!! Does the queen still appear occasionally in the window of the exterior of the ride?
I hope they update Pinocchio and make it so he actually becomes a real boy at the end.
He does tho, have you been on the ride? He became a real boy at the end of the ride
They should use different ip IMO. Pinocchio isn’t a classic attraction like the other fantasyland rides.
@@imaginatenation3697 I’ve been on the ride many times. The figure at the end shows that he’s still a wooden puppet if you look at his legs.
@@dapper-Dan No they shouldn't. Pinocchio is indeed a classic attraction.
@@stanfordite eh. Opened 1983 definitely not classic. Most of the other fantasyland attractions were opening day other than Alice.

I'm going to miss the kiss when it's replaced by the Prince yelling Wake up! I need your consent before I can give you true love's kiss!
Lol

Thank you so much for making this video. A very thoughtful comparison.
I didn’t know their plan was to make the ride less scary, I thought they wanted to complete the story and not leave us with a cliffhanger. Weird.
