    Nothing sucks more in Alabama or the South than to hear all those bugs at 6:15. That translates to "Man it's going to be humid and hot AF today."
    I used to cut grass in these areas back in 2015 for foreclosed homes. Birmingham, Ensley, Wylam... Man there were some interesting characters. You start cutting the grass and hear random gunshots out in the distance. Most of the time people left you alone. Sometimes I got weird looks and some would mess with me occasionally. Glad to cut in better areas now.

    I just now realized that I can tell A pretty big difference between Southern Cities & Cities in The Midwest-Northeast. In the south, it seems like the major cities Are more spread out. But in the northeast, I guess it's more Dense and the houses Are right next to each other and not spread out As much. Oh, and there is more Trees down south . and it doesn't seem as urban. more like A suburban feel or sometimes even rural. But that's just my opinion.

    • @inalienabletruths
      @inalienabletruths 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Birmingham claims to have more Trees in the city than anywhere in the US. I believe it. And you are correct its much more spread out with no big stacked high rises. Most of these are in housing authority apartments (ie. projects).

      True. But Birmingham is probably the most “Midwestern” city in the Deep South… it’s economy used to be Industrial or Manufacturing; it started to decline like Detroit so Birmingham destroyed a LOT of their urban buildings. If you search “Downtown Ensley” you’ll see how old Birmingham used to be. (Ensley is a Birmingham neighborhood on the Westside)

    I remember dropping my brother off in Gate City in 1993 bc his roommate from college lived there. We were from Bessemer so it was different to see red rags instead of blue and black ones. Real recognize Real. Corey, my brother roommate, turned out to be pretty cool dude

    • @curiousme113
      @curiousme113 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I went to Gate city twice in my life... once with my drug dealer boyfriend to deliver crack...I was terrified. I had no idea where we were going or what he was doing until we get into the the kitchen of these people and he pulls out rocks. Just walking from the car to their door was terrifying. It was after dark.
      I thought at least we can leave after he makes this deal....Oh no he sits down at the kitchen table and is doing crack with them.
      What the hell??
      I had a pint of some kind of whiskey I just sipped on. I thought we'd never leave.
      He had intended to stand me up that night and I was just determined to go...so I showed up at his house right before he left. I guess he figured to hell with it and took me with him.
      They were friendly enough and I felt sorta comfortable inside their house but not enough to hang out like he was doing.
      The 2nd time was to buy meds for my dog. My best friends mother told me that her friend would sell me meds for parvo for my dog. I had my husband drive me all the way to Gate city to buy these pills. I had no idea what they really were but the dog died.
      A crazy white woman came out to our car and sold them to us. I had bad dreams about that trip. The looks we got from The locals weren't good & I was stupid to go down there.

    I've watched your joints for a year or three. You've covered a lot of States... some of the "hoods" look nice, most do not. Your interviews with some west coast cats are interesting, as well as Detroit, Chicago, etc...even the history of the joints you roll through is worth the price of a ticket.
    This week, I watched video from another poster, hi-def shots of Kensington Philly that I thought was fake, like a movie scene, because it was 4K. Epic Photography. Everybody was high AF in 4K video. EVERYBODY!. I thought it was staged....couldn't happen. This shit ain't real... Nope, heroine all day long... people that can stand flat-footed, High AF, touch their shoulders to their knees, and stay that way.

      That's what happens when there is a small leak in the shingles, there might not be water getting onto the ceiling and fiving telltale signs, but the roof timbers decay and the roof starts to cave in.
