    Thank you for this lesson. The technique is similar to overlay mosaic crochet, but different. A new crochet thing to play with!

      Hi, Thanks for your comment! Yes, there are a lot of similarities but the small difference gives a lovely new effect! 😊

    This needs to be taught from the beginning, like how many chains to start with and how to add the brim. I would love to learn how to make the hat from the beginning to the very end. 🫶🏻🧶🫶🏻🧶

      Hi Amy, thanks for your comment. I'm really pleased you like the hat! This tutorial is to go with the (written) pattern for the hat, which does give all the details you mentioned. As such, this tutorial doesn't cover all the details of the pattern, but is just a demonstration of the brioche technique. You can get the written pattern for the beanie here if you'd like it: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1572318040/down-the-line-beanie-crochet-pattern or www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/down-the-line-beanie Hope that helps!

      @catherinecrochets I don't read #crochetpatterns. It's too hard for me to understand. I'm a visual person. Thank you, I found another detailed video on #TH-cam on how to create this #crochethat made by Mode Bespoke from "BRIOCHE HAT TUNISIAN CROCHE" Again, thank you 🫶🏻🧶🫶🏻🧶

    Very pretty! I’m a beginner and I feel lost. I hope to be able to do this soon! Finishing up bunch of granny squares right now as my very first project is going to be an afghan

      granny squares are a lovely place to start :) I'm sure you'll be able to manage something like this soon if you'd like to!

    Thanks for the tip about making it thinner. I’m in Australia and it’s never cold so no point crocheting things I can’t wear. Unfortunately finer yarns take longer to make 😩😭😂

      @catherinecrochets  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You're welcome! I hope it helps but I know what you mean about thin yarns, although often I find it's worth the effort 😊

    • @lanaconin5704
      @lanaconin5704 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@catherinecrochets yes i prefer the look of thinner yarns but i find it harder to find patterns. I usually find patterns for category 4 yarn and then double the pattern for finer yarns. Thanks sgain!

    I think this would make a beautiful cardigan, do you have a pattern for one

      Ooh, yes I think it would too! No, I don't have a pattern for one though I'm afraid.

    I would like to see a video on closing the hat . If you would show the decreases I would appreciate it. Thank you.

      @catherinecrochets  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for your comment. The instructions for how to do the decreases are in the written pattern but I'm afraid I don't have a video tutorial for that part. You can get the written pattern here if you'd like to: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/down-the-line-beanie

    Hi Catherine. Thanks for sharing your tutorials with us. As I'm a beginner I would like to ask how we set up the first round with two colors. I'll appreciate your help.

    • @catherinecrochets
      @catherinecrochets  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, thanks for your question. The set-up rounds involve a combination of sc and dc stitches through both loops, back loop only, and front loop only. The exact method is set out in my beanie pattern here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/down-the-line-beanie

    Could this be done with a thicker yarn, e.g 6mm, and if so what size hook would you use? (Very new to crochet).

    • @catherinecrochets
      @catherinecrochets  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, thanks for your comment. Yes, this technique could definitely work with a thicker yarn like DK or aran/worsted weight. You’d need a larger hook, eg around 4mm for DK or 5mm for aran/worsted. I’d start by trying the hook size recommended on the yarn label and then adjusting it up or down depending on your own tension and desired drape. Hope that helps! X

      Hi, I made this with a 3mm crochet hook. The beanie is quite stretchy and will fit an older child or adult. Hope that helps!

    So this is mosaic crochet in the round

    • @catherinecrochets
      @catherinecrochets  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Charlee, It is definitely quite similar but the use of FP stitches gives it a slightly different (more briochy :) ) texture than mosaic stitches, which are usually in the FLO.

  • @richelclottey

    Is this stitch stretchy please?😢

    • @catherinecrochets
      @catherinecrochets  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for your question. The amount of stretch will depend on the yarn you use but yes, it is a stretchy stitch, especially with yarns like the merino that I used.

      Hi, the set-up rounds are all described in the pattern for the Down the Line Beanie, which you can get here if you like: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/down-the-line-beanie This tutorial is just for the main brioche part.
