Excellent rendition ... but the role of Cavaradossi is a little heavy on his voice. I found much better renditions performed by Nicolai, even later in his career. He probably wasn't in the condition that evening. In this case, he sings at the limit of his powers. I came back and tried again. I ended up with tears in my eyes. He put all his soul and remaining strength into the singing. Cavaradossi is simply dying. Nicolai, although it is not vocally your best version, I believe you ... you are Mario Cavaradossi. You won again, although not as much as usual.
He mostly sounded like he was being strangled.......better to listen rather than watch. He had some good recordings, but like Carreras, I feel snag shit far too heavy for the weight of their voice.

Absolutamente IMPRESIONANTE.
One of 2 tenors (known to me) who doesn't scream singing the top notes. He was phenomenal. Not commercial enough to make a "big career."💔
True, he was not commercialized as much as some, did not become a "household name". Still, he had a very major and long career.

un tenore deve anche saper cantare e in questa interpretazione manca totalmente il cuore come e´successo tante volte a pavarotti
..e come succedeva spesso a Gedda. Pavarotti aveva almeno dalla sua un timbro che Gedda se lo sognava da molto lontano. Preferisco Pavarotti comunque.
