plot:
Jang Bong Hwan is a male chef that has risen up the ranks to find a job cooking for the country’s top politicians in the South Korean presidential residences, the Blue House. He is something of a dreamer - but one day finds himself in the body of a young queen from Korea’s past, Kim So Yong.
Kim So Yong’s husband is the reigning monarch, King Cheol Jong. However, he is only king in name - the late King Sunjo’s Queen, Sun Won, has taken advantage of Cheol Jong’s better nature, and is ruling the realm in his name. Queen Sun Won’s brother Kim Jwa Guen also has designs on power. However, Kim So Yong soon discovers that King Cheol Jong harbors secrets, and is not as gentle and meek as he seems…
I really love this drama so far I highly recommend watching this show shin hye sun is doing such an amazing job portraying both characters the actors are great and so is the chemistry between them though i admit i dont like the cousin no second lead syndrome ig but really it’s a really good drama

If you look at it, for Kim So Yong it's a sad love story. She longed for the king who is in love with another woman, who literally hates her for the clan she belongs. He tried to kill her as well. She even tried to took her life because of her miserable life. Still waiting for king to come to her . I think the part which makes this song more meaningful is that is the phrase "Here I am" . Even though he wasn't with her from the beginning, she was still there. Treasuring every moment she had with the king, in the same place with same feeling, waiting for him to go to her someday.
Love your comments, this drama has such an amazing painful- love story plot for me. After watch spinoff I realize that King already fell in love with Soyong since their first meet, although at that time he have relationship with Hwa Jin. The feeling he have for Hwa Jin and So young really different because for Hwa Jin, King only have that crush or attraction feeling but for So Young its really love-hate relationship, more deep and passionate like she is truly his destiny. Thats why when Hwa Jin ask King do you have attraction to queen, he just answered, its wrong for me to love queen and Hwa Jin realize that he dont love her only because he cant.

it wasn't a sad story for her,as long as she find happiness at the end.......but a sad one for kim byeong-in......who love her every step of the way,even sacrificed his life to protect her...and a sad one for jo hwajin because the king dont love her like before...so i feel her pain
I think the love of the king for the consort, that's is suppose to be for so yong,the king had some feelings for so yong during their childhood when she saved him from the well.
He changed towards his consort when he realizes that it was not her who saved him from the well.
He started to have feeling for so yong when he realizes that it was really her who saved him.
Jong bong whan's soul was a big help for so young to get the attention of the king and for the king to realize his feelings for so yong.
People who don't watch the drama will think it is about a tragic love story😁

I usually don't watch ancient historical period dramas because I won't enjoy them And feel that they are way too complicated to get into my head . But, this drama proved me entirely wrong!!. This is such a masterpiece!! Literally this drama is a complete package of entertainment! ull smile at once and then laugh the next moment . Some times u may go Aww.....and then u be like oh shit!! And u may even CRY without knowing.
Last few episodes when king and queen were falling in love with eachother it was really very exciting and emotional!!

They were falling in love since episode 1. Last 3 episodes were them realizing their feelings and becoming stronger fighting a war together on the one side. Honestly I love them in the last two episodes. So loving and so protective of each other 🥰💞

Well actually for me it is kind of a tragic story 🤧. In the ending, there’s a part where the king looked at the queen’s diary and said “I think I lost something.” I think he meant he lost Bong Hwan (tho he doesn’t know about his existence).

@morethanhope Getting the ledger information from her father, getting ByeongIn's letter of treason, etc. those were all possible because of Soyong. Bongwhan helped the king too, but only after Soyong's feelings/soul became stronger over her body. Without Soyong's influence, Bonghwan hated the king and was more interested in flirting with Hwajin lol
@@sarahs1829 Though the romantic feelings were coming from So Young but we are talking about Cheoljong. He fell in love with the crazy side of Bong hwan. Though we know in the special episode, king did like her and felt familiar with So young and it was like Love at first sight. But that's it. There's nothing more. He actually fell in love deeply with the personality of Bong Hwan. Actually the scene where he said that he felt like he lost something and was surprised how the queen started talking with him formally were all the adlibs of Kim Jung Hyun. I'm happy that he added those to soothe the feelings and curiosity of the audience and connect the scenes. Otherwise, viewers would have been angry with him for not feeling even a slight of change in the queen. But it does make me feel betrayed still 😢.
@@sejalstha3992 CJ didn't like BH's manners, he just grew to accept them because he loves Soyong. That's why when Soyong faints in ep7, he tells her that he'll forgive her strange ways and he just wants her to wake up. He doesn't love Soyong because of BH's modern mannerisms, but he accepts it as part of her. The adlib at the end is to show that CJ notices that Soyong is changing (again), but he'll accept her surprises in behavior no matter what. If you want to hear about Kim Jung Hyun's thoughts about BH, watch his insta live from after the show ended (2/15/21 I think). He answers fans' questions and confirms that CJ did not love Soyong because of BH.

The only body swap drama with no over acting or no logic scene, in most of the body swap dramas even tho they know the future, they don't help those whom they fell in love with and let the things ruin when they have the chance to change everything and instead of adding more misunderstandings, They were so straight forward and more realistic than reality itself
