That is really impressive. Fairchild is an absolute natural. Who would've thought this classically trained NYCB principal ballerina could have such an easy, relaxed, charming naturalness in a Broadway show? And comedic timing! Of course, she totally kills the dancing (triple pirouettes, anyone?) Having such a fantastic group of dancers backing her helps, always!
I wish I could have seen the show. It looks like so much fun.
Such amazing representation from Megan of the New York City ballet!! So magical seeing two outstanding art forms collide!!!!
I'm exhausted just watching her.
the ending with those turns is unreal. the speed she has to execute them is next to impossible
This made me cry not knowing when Broadway is gonna come back. Whoa, didn’t see that coming.
Can't believe I'm saying this, but I like her better on broadway than in a ballet. And trust me, as a ballet student myself, I never expected myself to feel like this- who am I kidding? Megan Fairchild is amazing at everything!
This might be only be a rehearsal, but I'm absolutely blown away! It just seems like like Megan never even touches the ground, but glides across the stage always an inch (or more 🙂) off the floor. And the way she melts from one move to the next is fascinating to watch. Her transitions are so seamless it almost seems like the entire dance is just one huge move instead of the series of steps they actually are. Stunning! Her acting ability is another pleasant surprise. And considering this is only a rehearsal, I can only imagine how great the actual performance must be!! I've seen a video of Misty Copeland performing this number and although I LOVE her to pieces, I actually much prefer the way Megan dances it. Misty is BEYOND amazing, don't get me wrong, I just think Megan can really connect with the audience in a way that very few dancers can. It's such a rare ability & I hope she'll continue to share it with us for years to come!! 👏

She's a ballet dancer, that's all. A lotta hours, a lotta years, a lotta sweat, a lotta blood, a lotta missed proms and lonely times--that's all it takes, plus a really suitable physique, well-shaped, strong feet, musicality, intelligence, dogged persistence, and a fair bit of luck. She's a working dancer. And how about all those other fantastic dancers on display here? Anyone who can possibly get to this show and doesn't is a fool.

Kathy Myers Ballet dancers and professional dancers of any kind can remember sometimes hours of choreography. They can have 2-3 ballets to perform in one night and have to adjust their character to each piece. That’s why they are such fascinating people! Not only incredible physical athletes, but mentally as well!

Actually, the choreographer for this 2014 revival was Joshua Bergasse, and the director John Rando. I saw the show in the theater, and their work was terrific.
